How many other strikers have played for Nigeria recently??

Do you still think there is time to invite new strikers?

Ebere Eze On Target In 4-1 Demolition Of Norwich City

Nigerian wonderkid Ebere Eze was on the scoresheet as Rangers come from behind to batter Norwich 4-1 at Loftus Road on Easter Monday.

The 19 year old was at his brilliant best producing a classy first half display showing as usual his flashes of skill and brilliance before capping it up with a superb goal in the 2nd half.

The hosts had gone behind in the first half through an own goal as Nelson Oliviera was adjudged to have gotten the final touch towards the target for the visitors.

But QPR responded inside 90 seconds when Massimo Luongo poked home into the bottom corner inside the box to even scores at 1-1.

Another brilliant youngster Matt Smith rose highest to head Rangers in front, before Nigerian Ebere Eze produced a classy low finish from close range after being teed up by Smith to make it 3-1.

The youngster latched onto Smiths headed down ball from Scowen’s long ball and then held off Ivo Pinto before slotting past Gunn in goal for Norwich
The Rampant Rangers didn’t stop there, however, as Ryan Manning got in on the act with a glancing header from Jake Bidwell’s pinpoint cross to kill off the game completely as a contest.

It’s the first time this season that QPR have scored 4 goals in a match.

Ebere has been in phenomenal form for QPR since returning back from a short loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers and has now scored 2 goals for the Rs
Calls continue to come in from fans of the Super Eagles for the youngster who trained with the Super Eagles in March 2017 to be included in the World Cup squad

he needs to win the support of big sponsors and save his hard earned money.

He will learn that through the process... Telling him not to go for it will look as if one is blocking his ambition.

Nigeria politics is crazy though

Well a good aspiration and good for him but he should remember that politics can bring his integrity down and financially it gulp money,so better for him to think deep unless someone is out there ready to sponsor him.

Strikers are judged by goals.. Marouane Chamakh was a hardworking striker at Arsenal but scored very little.... He can not be ranked among Arsenal most effective strikers.

Before Watford, Ighalo was NEVER prolific.. You have to go back to the Italian Primavera (youth league) to see Ighalo scoring several goals.

In la liga, he never scored more than 6 goals a season.. There is a reason why he never got invited until he moved to England.

That said, we want him to hit his best form but i can not be looking for other positives when a striker is not scoring..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zX3qj-vgl44

If so why is he considered a legend in Granada? Benzema is a prime example of a striker who does other things right apart from scoring. The fact is if u do the right things the goals will always come.

Kanu Nwankwo will have my support if he develops an economic team that will provide economic strategies that can pull our nation out of that financial crisis we find ourselves. Come up with ways to manage our resources and reduce wastage in the NNPC.

It is a noble gesture to want to run for President to set things right but the task ahead is too big than just having a good mind to make things right.

Good luck Papillo.

Kanu was not a top striker for Nigeria and he was usually a support striker. And yes, even then his goal return was poor but he had other contributions. Important assists and all.

Iheanacho is not ordinary..
Agreed Kanu was not a top striker but Daniel Amokachie, Samson Siasia,Osaze,Segun Odegbami,Emmanuel Amuneke were not top strikers in eagles even Stephen Keshi and they have good goal ratio.

Kanu goal ratio for eagles was damn too poor, check it out 5 afcons as super regular no goal,3 WC no goal.

I don't think being a supporting striker should be a yardstick to justify Kanu poor goal ratio in eagles.

Kanu overall contribution was awesome but goal ratio not good to talk about.

Yakubu, Martins, Agali, Ike Uche had better scoring rates..

Kelechi has had a better return in his national team career so far..

I support Ighalo and he has shown that he can score... I just want to see it in the super eagles
.....may be we should extend invitationn to Obafemi Martins and Ike Uche cos they are still active.

Goals don't always tell the story of how good a striker is, against Cameroon he scored, assisted and had that brilliant dummy he sold for Mikel on the corner goal. Against Zambia he unsighted the keeper and made a routine save into a world cup ticket sealing goal.
He was the brightest spot in our last 2 friendlies, against Poland he showed an entirely different side with his relentless pressing and his hold up play was better than Lewandowski's on the day, in fact if my opinion counted for anything I would say he was the best performing striker on the pitch that day. In London against Serbia he won more fouls in that half than probably any player in the entire game and his hold up was also on top notch, he almost scored on his butt if not for a great save by their keeper.
Lets worry about creating the chances before we start pointing fingers at the striker because to play striker for Nigeria right now is to suffer. U never know whether to position for a cross or just time a rebound. Once our player approach the box they go for self when they should be playing with their striker. These guys are not machines, u can't not pass to ur striker the whole game then expect him to bury the first half chance he sees, that might happen sometimes but not all the time.
You have chewed the kolanut on ALL the right spots. I love the way you put it: to play striker now for SE is just to suffer.

I repeat only strikers of the past (except Messi or one or two other players) can play in this present team and score goals in the absence of Mikel. Watch Weah, Ronaldo de Lima, Owen, Shearer dribble from the center or from around the box to score. If an attacker does what Owen did to score against Argentina at France 98 they will say he's selfish.

Andy Johnson played in a terrible crystal palace team but was still one of the highest scorers in the league.
A good scorer will take advantage of the scraps fed to him and yes sometimes scorers had to be selfish.

Alan Shearer scored plenty goals out of nothing and smashed goals from distance, He did not have to run with the ball to score than many goals.

The boy needs to be capped because it is just a matter of time before Scotland calls..
. This is the same mentality the English used in grabbing our players, thereby caging them and putting their international futures on a standstill. Just look at Tammy and the rest. Now what if Eze is capped by Nigeria and the same thing happens to him? What if he plays just one game for us and doesn't get to play again just because we were too impatient and fast to get him on our side. What happens then? Sometimes we should learn to be unselfish and also think of the players. If picking Scotland over us will favour him better and get him more games,I'm okay with that. It might not be good for the SE team but his own success and happiness should also be thought of at some point because he's a Nigerian and we all should wish him the best.

Eze should be given a call up for that number 10 role in our next friendlies though not majorly with Russia in sight. We need make him have that sense of belonging. That kid is good. But if he makes most of the opportunity, wow I just want a creative midfield in the absence Mikel pre Russia, in Russia and post Russia.

Lemme hop in here.

I'm glad you mentioned Benzema...

Ighalo has never, and I cant smell him doing or playing the kind of striker role that KB does for Madrid.

Why?

Cos on top of creating very vital chances and drawing players to himself, he has goals too that he worked out himself and then his shot at goal rate, however less successful is far better than what Ighalo does in the GWG.

In fact, so far, Ideye is the closest SE striker by comparism with Benzema and no one else currently.

If Ighalo can increase his shot outside the box and become a household name for it, and his positioning, maybe, just maybe I can start comparing.

They are far different in style. Ighalo loves danger play in the opposite box and it's not been fruitful so far.

Most times KB is not even in the box when Madrid attacks, always somewhere in midfield, but gbam, he scores and you wonder how he got there so far unnoticed.

He however has many missed chances than Ighalo would ever have in his career if he prolonged it for another 50years of play, and that's why KB gets me pissed off.

Why are you so comfortable to call Eze?

I know he is good but I want to know your intent since you don't rate championship. This question is for those in your shoes.

I'm sure its either he aggravated that injury or he wasn't playing well at full capacity...

That groin injury is not an injury that can go in 2weeks..its still lingering there..I hope his club can manage him well to recover fully...if anything give him proper 2 weeks rest and he should go the gym and put some weight on that groin..it would make it heal faster
