Civil engineering is an occupation in demand but not on prorata due to the sparse volume of applicants on skillselect. Since points are high at the moment and minimum points for invitation is currently at 70, it is in the interest of states to nominate such people at 55points to attract them to the state. Because there is no assurance that someone who can meet 70points to be invited be skillselect will be heading to their state. Maybe just 3 or 4 civil engineers get invited per round.

That's NSW site to know about 190 nomination, however, all you have to do is lodge an EOI on skillselect if your occupation is on their 190 list. You will get invite if they nominate you, nothing more.

1. My Spouse's occupation falls under Accountant-General. He will be applying for 189 visa. He will have relevant body assess his credentials. As a dependant, do I need to have my own credentials assessed by AIM since I'm not the principal applicant?

2. As a dependant, Do I need to write IELTS?

3. What's the minimum amount required as proof of funds for a family of 4 and when is it required?

4. Does my spouse stand a better chance (since he can apply under MLTSSL while I can only apply under STSOL (Human Resource Management) and I will require a state nomination)?

Good morning all. Stumbled on this thread yesterday and I'm so wowed that the thread has been going on and still active for almost 2 years.
Kudos to bellong and everyone who has assisted others here one way or another.

I will like to know the current total amount of money required for me, my wife and a kid to secure an Australian PR visa for skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) (Points-tested) stream. Either me or my wife will be the primary Applicant (that will be based on the outcome of the IELTS/PTE test).

Any particular reason you assessed your work experience with EA?It's been discussed here over and over again that it's not necessary as DIBP would still do their checks just curious because we didn't assess ours

I have barely made posts on this thread, but I have been following proceedings religiously!

Made a conscious decision to start the Australian PR process 20th November 2017 after much convincing by my brother @spyroxy1.

PTE 16 Jan 2018: SWLR 90,90,90,90 (Ist attempt)
EA positive Assessment: 3rd April 2018
Updated EOI: 3rd April 2018
ITA: 3rd April 2018

Points breakdown:

Age - 30 points
Qualifications - 15 points
Experience - 10 points (should have been 20 but EA removed 1 year from my work experience)
English - 20 points

Now I couldn't have achieved this without the support and encouragement from my brothers & sister @spyroxy1 @olalekankad @Alphadoor @Azy123 @Tuteso @frankdoch @MamaJazz. I'm deeply thankful to you all and I pray God crowns all our efforts in this journey.

I am currently working in a bank as a Customer Experience Analyst, precisely Service Audit and Monitoring. I have been working here for 3 years 8 months, although I have worked as an Accountant  and trainee Auditor for 7 months before joining the bank cos I studied Accounting at Ekiti State University and also writing my ACCA exams, though still at the skills stage.

Having gone through the MTSSL list, Customer Service Manager is the closest occupation, however, it is only available for class 190 (Northern Territory NT, Australian Capital Territory Act & Tasman) and 489 (NT & South Australia)

What is/are d implication(s) of the visa class 190 and 489?
Can I apply as a General Accountant? I have the qualifications except for the work experience which is less than a year.

Age: 30 points
Bsc: 15 points

I am not an expert but i know that if you've studied up to 2years in that country that you'll be given 2years work visa?

Accountant-G are on a long thing, and you should be striking them with actions by now.

Meanwhile...instead of coming back here, (for me), i will get july intake and continue studying until my Skill Visa arrives .

It means that irrespective of who the principal applicant is between you two, neither of you can get the extra 5points for spouse.

It all depends on who has the highest point break down and how competitive your respective occupations are. So, try and research on this before proceeding.

It seems I'll have higher points but my occupation is only eligible for 109 visa that requires state nomination. I think it will be longer process that may not come through in good time.

What do you advise?
