Did you do upfront medicals?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Nobody: 6:59pm On Apr 26, 2018
Hi guys..

Regarding the question of having relevant academic or work prerequisite relevant to the program in the study permit questionnaire.. Are they talking of courses you've taken during your undergraduate degree??

Also, the question about having a relative in Canada.. Can I fill in the name of a friend who is also studying in Canada or I should fill N/A

Thanks

Third parties sponsors have scaled through without paying a dime. You must have not been paying attention to the testimonies here. It’s all about the overall credibility the applicant is able to convey to the VO. Why sponsor is sponsoring him and if there has been evidence of past support from the same sponsor if shown, is almost a slam dunk. If he can wait till May and June, I am all for it. But he has what it takes too to apply now in my best opinion. Every month that passes the application processing time is shooting up and some people that applied in June last year missed resumption.

True! A winning convincing letter of support, past previous support and proof of relationship with sponsor will make this scale through.

~~Documents Submitted~~
√Normal CIC documents
√Conditional Acceptance letter with funding information (Full funding covering tuition and living expenses)
√Letter of explanation (Financial) pointing out that I have a full scholarship and my paternal uncle will sponsor my airfare costs and miscellaneous expenses
√Above-mentioned uncle's bank statement
√Letter of sponsorship from uncle
√Undergraduate transcripts
√Undergraduate degree certificate
√WASSCE certificate
√National Service appointment letter
√My pay slips
√CV
√My birth certificate
√Letter of Explanation, elucidating on why my proposed course in Civil Engineering is in fact related to my undergrad degree in Geological Engineering. I also addressed the conditions on my acceptance letter, then a final paragraph dedicated to explaining why I want to study in Canada and not Ghana.

NOTE: Even though I submitted my uncle's sponsorship letter and bank statements, I did not list him as sponsor in the application form since he was basically only covering my flight expenses. I heeded @jnyuwa02's advice to unequivocally write "Full Scholarship".

I bless the stars for making me discover this forum. Ghanaians are a minority on nairaland, but all your supports make me feel like I'm part of the family.

God Bless you all.
It shall end in praises for all TRV hopefuls.

Wow, mighty congrats, glad to help and honored to be part of your story! Best of luck with your academics at York!!

Hi guys I’m new in the house, but I’m not new to this topic. I’ve been following this thread since Part 5 thereabout and it has finally reached time for me to apply what I’ve learnt so far. However I still need your help. I graduated last year and I’m currently serving but I want to go for my masters this Fall. I have secured admission to Carleton MEng Mechanical Engineering and I have gathered the essential documents for my visa application. My main question now is would Nysc be a problem because I did not mention it in my SOP.

Hello House, I am just curious. Is it possible for an applicant's TRV for schooling purposes be denied if one has scholarship from a Canadian University?

Okay. I have good travel history and my application is still pending.. it is almost 8 weeks
I applied March 9

Seems like having a travel history is a double edged sword. CIC is just so unpredictable, I applied 28th February , no medical request till now , just eligibility and background checks still under review and processing till now . My only trust is in God.

Currently serving is not a problem. There are many who secured admission while on service and were approved for a TRV. They never completed the service and left to Canada. So feel free to disclose that you are currently serving!! It won’t disadvantage you, rather it will help you!!

They are talking about courses you have taken in the past or any work experience you have that is related to the course you are going to be studying on Canada. So for someone working in the bank, having worked in a bank or run one’s personal business would be a requisite experience related to the course. Or courses one has taken in the past that is related to MBA. Economics, statistics, math, etc. Your friend in Canada is not your relative, so answer should be “none.”

To answer your question, yes absolutely one can be denied even with full scholarship from a Canadian university!! I have seen people on this forum with full scholarship denied student visa before. One that pained me the most is one student who got a full scholarship of 20k from USASK that was denied based on not having significant ties to country that would induce his return to Nigeria. It was a pity!! 20k yearly scholarship forfeited, applicant walked away a sad, a broken and defeated man! I always wonder what he is doing now!

Ps: people with full scholarship denied visa are clearly in the minority. A majority with full scholarship sail through.

Someone I met here received this exact mail and asked me. I did not know what it meant at first, so we waited and it turned out to be a denial. His passport was couriered back to him from Abuja with a refusal letter. He didn’t even need to go collect it normally with the yellow slips like before. It’s most likely a denial of your application after just one week if you have done biometrics and did paper route in VFS Abuja, but never called for medicals and did not submit upfront.
