Obiano also recontracting Esther Obiakor road started by Mbadinuju

I think Esther Obiakor was as far back as Ezeife regime. Esther Obiakor estates were among the first duplexes seen in new Awka from the expressway during Ezeife administration. Although they appeared shortly after state creation, they became abandoned and it took decades to complete them

I don't know the deal Madinuju and Ngige had with Chris Ubah's family on Alex Ekwueme's dual-carriage road Awka? I learnt they were the ones that started the project, Peter Obi avoided working on this road, Gov Obiano light up campaign in Anambras when the team got here, instead of them using the street light poles already installed the had to install new ones by the side of the road

Mbadinuju almost ruined Anambra state.
He could have signed a deal to cede the state facility for 100 years to those crooks.

I am glad the light up Anambra simply installed working street lights on the side and moved on. These roads and other buildings will forever remind us how much Anambra was robbed and handed to mere thieves for decades. I am happy those are now in the past. Obiano should extend that road into an Awka ring road to open up new areas of Awka for development.

Governor obiano, if you are reading this contact this man and give him an appointment as soon as possible. This is one of the brains needed to take anambra to a whole new level.

You know when you read the suggestions proffered on this and other Igbo related threads, it becomes clear that the wrong type of people are being appointed as commissioners and special assistants. If all these suggestions we've been giving all these years are being implemented to the letter, the South East would have been the best developed region in the country.

You get the felling you're being strung along, and that all these appointments and policy statements being made are just playing to the gallery and being done to give a semblance of governance. We all know what governance (at state and federal level) is all about....it's all about answering your excellency, honourable or distinguished, and spending the whole day looking for and awarding contracts to swell your bank balance and steal the one that even your great-great grandchildren wouldn't be able to chop finish in their lifetime!

You are right. I don't see the essence of having these appointees if they don't bring anything to the table. It would be better if the governor works directly with the civil servants or consultants rather than these redundant/brain dead political appointees.

Stop misleading people here. Esther obiakor avenue was started by Peter Obi while the GRA Road was started by Ngige. Obi came and also continued work on the GRA Road. The contracts extending the GRA Road to join Esther Obiakor avenue and the construction of Esther Obiakor avenue were awarded by Peter Obi.

Classic example of how out of touch appointees are. You have the Mbanefo lady as commissioner of tourism talking about caves instead of working with what's on ground. You have loads of cultural events people key into like Onitsha Ofala festival, iwa ji of many towns and imo awka yet no support from govt.

For imo awka the govt should work with awka villages to create a presentable festival with tents sponsored by corporates, branded food kiosks, put up a website describing the festival, profile participating masquerades, musicians, and dance groups and provide, security and places to park. Have the governor visit to declare it open. Market it on social media by having people vote for the best masquerade, dancers, car decorations and award prizes. A well organized festival will draw not just people in Awka but loads of visitors.

Continue from where to where and awarded when? This is 2018. It was Mbadinuju that started the project.

I am looking how great Anambra will be in 5 to 6 years time!.... We need people with passion for development in the govt of Anambra state if we are going to see Onitsha hosting major headquarters of Igbo businesses and competiting with major cities of the World!

We need more hang out joints in the SE especially in Awka. Something similar to Ibari-Ogwa in Owerri that doubles as an entertainment center and restaurant. It is part of tourism development which our people tend to overlook and just concerned with things like Ogbunike cave (Which is also good).

Sometimes, when folks come back from abroad in the village, its so frustrating that there's nothing to do except attend weddings and funerals.

That is violent. People are either injured or killed and cultist use it as an opportunity to revenge and cause trouble. The government should regulate it and make more enjoyable. One gets flogged even when you dont partake in it or not an indigene, One should only flog his peer who is interested not anyone he sees on the road. Government should do something about it.

A master plan is theory without implementation. Over 1,000 buildings are constructed in Anambra cities every year yet the state govt responsible for approval is nowhere to be seen. Then add in the fact that road infrastructure barely sees even 2 streets a year in these same cities. It's no wonder Anambra cities look like shtholes.

There is a correlation between organization and development. Enugu was practically dead until Sullivan Chime cleaned up the city. Now money is rushing there for classy buildings. Contrast the new plazas of Okpara Ave to the rubbish you see in Onitsha. Contrast the buildings you see on the refurbished expressway in Awka to the slum like buildings of Ziks Avenue Awka.

Infrastructure and policy is the difference between primitive and sophisticated business.
Stop equating what you see around Upper Iweka and Iweka road as being same all over Onitsha. Have you seen the new plazas springing up around Main market and other places?
Which money is rushing into Enugu that is not rushing into 3-3 Onitsha, Obosi, Ogidi, Oba, Nsugbe, and Ozubulu as we speak except you are trying to be mischievous.
What do you say about Ogui, Asata, Coal camp, Iva valley etc all in Enugu since you claimed Sullivan cleaned up the place?

I will not give Peter Obi the credit for Onitsha mall, Agulu lake hotel and Onitsha hotel.

Obiano deserves all the credit for completing them.

It is very easy to award N1.5 trillion naira project knowing you don't have the funds to do it. But just playing to the gallery. The credit must go to the guy that struggles to find funds to build it.

This is the same problem Enugu international conference center suffered. Nobody wants to take the pains to complete it because despite their suffering, our people will give the credit to the man who merely flagged off the project.

The Enugu international conference center was even at a far advanced state of completion than Onitsha mall, Onitsha hotel and Agulu hotel were in 2015.

See 2015 shots of Agulu hotel,
Onitsha mall
and Onitsha hotel pull from skyscrapper.com.

It is clearly obvious Obiano completed the edifices.
