The Flying Eagles held hosts Katsina United to a goalless draw in a friendly played today at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina.

The Nigeria U20s created the better chances, but could not find the back of the net.

Peter Eneji’s overhead kick missed target after 10 minutes and the Plateau United winger was denied by goalkeeper Yinka David after 22 minutes.
In the 39 minute, Eneji’s shot from distance crashed against the crossbar.

Katsina United also threatened through Tasiu Lawal.

In the second half, Flying Eagles striker Jerome Akor’s header off an Eneji cross missed the mark before his goal-bound strike six minutes from time was cleared off the line by Usman Barau.

The Nigeria U20s are preparing for a 2019 U20 AFCON qualifier against Guinea Bissau later this month.

Flying Eagles coach Paul Aigbogun has said he hopes his team go past Guinea Bissau in a 2019 U20 AFCON qualifier later this month.

The Nigeria U20s will face Guinea Bissau between May 11 and 13 with the return leg in Nigeria a week later.

“We created chances, but unfortunately we did not score,” he said.
“But it was good to see how the team play against a high level team.
“It would have been good to win, but it was also important that we did not lose.”

Katsina United held the Nigerian team who are presently gearing up for their African Youth Championship Qualifiers tie against Guinea Bissau two days ago, bringing an end to their winning streak in friendly games.

They bounced back to their form prior to the game against Katsina United with a convincing win secured by a brace from Wikki Tourist forward Idris Guda and just like in their previous games Jerome Akor was on target again.

Akor who has emerged as the main man for the Flying Eagles in attack since joining the team in camp a month ago also assisted Guda for his second goal of the tie.
The Stroemgodset of Norway trailist is heavily favoured to lead the line for the team in two weeks time when they take on Guinea Bissau in their first qualifier game for next year Africa Youth Championship.

How Peter Eneji Stole The Show For Flying Eagles In Stalemate Against Katsina United



Plateau United of Jos forward Peter Eneji showed why he is so highly rated with a performance which got the spectators screaming his name in the Nigeria U20 0-0 draw against Katsina United.
Eneji only recently returned from an injury lay off and the 19 year old B player of the Super Eagles of Nigeria was handed a start by coach Paul Aigbogun in the friendly tie.
He justified his starting position with a strong showing by ghosting past his markers with ease and keeping the defence of the Nigeria Professional Football League side busy all through the duration of the game.

The left foot whiz also had two efforts which crashed off the bar during the course of the game which ended 0-0 . His all round performance made the crowd to mob him after the game.
Chants of Eneji, Eneji, Eneji rent the air after the game, which came as a surprise considering the fact that he was playing against a team, whose fans are known to be very passionate about their team especially when playing at home.

Kano Pillars Super Kid Resumes Training With Flying Eagles After Brondby Trials



Kano Pillars super kid Nazifi Yahaya has resumed training with Nigeria's U20 National Team, the Flying Eagles, following his trip to Scandinavia, where he underwent trials with Danish Superliga outfit Brondby.

The Dabo Babes Academy product has not yet attained the age of majority, and a top source close to the deal confirmed to this website that Brondby will continue to monitor his performance, with a view to handing him a professional contract as from the January transfer window of 2019.

''Nazifi is back in Nigeria, he arrived around 12 midnight this morning. He is now with the Flying Eagles, '' he told
allnigeriasoccer.com .

''He is going to be eighteen in December. He performed wonderfully well during his trials with Brondby and we expect that he will be offered a contract after the World Cup.''

Atletico Madrid, Club Brugge plus Turkish teams were earlier linked with a move for Nazifi Yahaya after putting himself in the shop window at the Guateng Future Champions Tournament that took place in South Africa in 2017.

Danladi hails Flying Eagles; upbeat team will overcome Guinea Bissau

Member of the NFF Technical Committee, Barr. Isaac Danladi is confident the current set of players paraded by the Flying Eagles have what it takes to go past any opponent they face.
The Nasarawa United chairman, who spoke to AOIFootball.com after watching the Flying Eagles defeat his side 3-1 in a friendly, further hailed the technical hands behind the team’s good play.
“Obviously, they are a good team and I’m satisfied with the technical play of the boys. They showed good composure on and off the ball and I’m sure they will bring smiles to the faces of millions of Nigerians.
“They are a team in progress and will continue to develop, I believe they can match any team with the way they play. Kudos must be given to the coaches for putting up such a young and vibrant team to represent the country,” Danladi said.
The Flying Eagles defeated Nasarawa United 3-1 in a warm-up game and will play another match on Monday before departing for Guinea ahead of their first leg tie on May 18.

Akpan Udoh hopes to make up for Flying Eagles flop


Israel-based goalkeeper Akpan Udoh has told SCORENigeria he is grateful for a second chance with the Flying Eagles as he was part of the team who failed to qualify for the last U20 AFCON in Zambia.
Udoh shone as Nigeria won a record fifth U17 FIFA World Cup, but was also part of the Flying Eagles who crashed out to Sudan in the qualifying tournament for the 2017 U20 AFCON.
It was the first time in many years that the country’s U20 team had failed to qualify for a tournament they have won a record seven times.
“I appreciate my recall to the Flying Eagles,” he told SCORENigeria
“I promise to achieve what I couldn’t do the last time with this team.”

The Bnei Sakhnin young shot stopper is now battling with Kogi United goalkeeper Detan Ogundare for the No 1 shirt as the Flying Eagles get set to take on Guinea Bissau next weekend in a
2019 U20 AFCON qualifier.
Udoh is playing regularly in Israel, where some of the country’s top goalkeepers like Vincent Enyeama, Austin Ejide and Dele Aiyenugba started out.

Ex-Nigeria U15 Invitee David Kasumu Makes League Debut For MK Dons



Teenage Nigerian midfielder David Kasumu made his league debut for MK Dons in their 1-0 win over Shrewsbury Town on the final day of the regular season in League One.

The 18-year-old came off the bench in the 80th minute for his maiden appearance for MK Dons in the league, a reward for the youngster after impressing for the youth teams.
Born in London to Nigerian parents, Kasumu won MK Dons Academy Player of the Year at the club's End of Season Awards held at Stadium MK on Tuesday, May 1.

He has been named in MK Dons' match day squad on ten occasions since making his professional debut against Newport County in the League Cup in August 2016.

Kasumu is being monitored by the Nigeria Football Federation with a view to a call-up to their youth teams and was handed an invitation to train with the Nigeria U15s in June 2015.

He penned his first professional contract with MK Dons in December 2017.

Flying Eagles Pick Up Another Friendly Victory With Gata, Tijjani & Maxwell On Target




The Nigeria U20 team of coach Paul Aigbogun picked up another morale boosting win with a 3-0 victory over Pars FC in a friendly game played at the FIFA Goal Project.

Hot on the heels of their 3-1 win against Nigeria Professional Football League side Nasarawa United, they continued from where they left off with a display that saw them open scoring through Enyimba’s forward Junior Maxwell.

Muhammed Tijjani of 36 Lions made it 2-0 to the Flying Eagles before Akwa United Adeshina Gata rounded up what was a comprehensive display by the coach Aigbogun tutored side, despite his decision to play some players who have not been given enough game time since the start of their camping and subsequent friendly games.

A decision on the players who will make the trip to Guinea Bissau for the first leg of their African Youth Championship Qualifiers will be made tomorrow ahead of the game in less than two weeks time.

Failure to qualify for the last African Youth Championship means the current team are under some sort of pressure to ensure that Nigeria doesn’t miss out for the second year running.

Ahhhh. He's been on fire for Villarreal C (their U-19s side) and recently got promoted to Villarreal B. His performances of late have been very good Chief... He is in form and on the right track.

Highly rated former Nigeria U17 Star Samuel Chukwueze who is now a member of the U20 team has been promoted by Spanish LaLiga side Villarreal.
Chukwueze joined Villarreal officially after turning 18 in May, a news first reported by Owngoalnigeria.com and he was immediately sent to the U19s where his progress will be monitored before elevation through the ranks.

Already he has taken to life with the U19s like a duck to water with dazzling performances which included a hattrick among the six goals he has scored for the team alongside seven assists as well.

His progress hasn’t gone unnoticed hence he has been elevated to Villarreal II who are campaigning in the Spanish Segunda B, and he has already settled down in his new surroundings with two games under his belts so far.

He featured in the 1-1 draw against Sabadell on the 15th of April before making another appearance on the 22nd of April in their game against Badalona which ended 0-0.

The coach of the Nigeria U20 team Paul Aigbogun has listed a squad of 20 players who will prosecute the first leg of their AFCON 2019 Qualifiers tie against Guinea Bissau.

Aigbogun picked Bnei Sakhnin shot stopper Akpan Udoh as one of the two goalkeepers, and he is also the only foreign base player in the squad for the tie, which is the first leg of the second round of qualifiers for next year Africa Youth Championship.

Team captain Ikouwem Udoh lead the defenders listed for the game, while right full back Michael Zarumma who did very well in the two legged friendly game against Egypt also made the squad.

Kano Pillars wonder boy Ibrahim Alhassan was listed among the midfielders with the likes of Peter Eneji, Wasiu Alalade, Idris Guda and top striker Jerome Akor made the squad as expected.

The team will depart for Lagos tomorrow from where they will connect a Royal Maroc flight to Guinea-Bissau on Thursday by 6pm Nigerian time for the Saturday clash.
