Contempt of Congress 1. In America where we borrowed and copied democracy from, they have within their constitution what they call, Contempt Od Congress to specifically address and discipline people when they transgress against summon orders issued by the Congress. 2. The Nigerian Senate has similar authority, so why are they not sitting any relevant part of our constitution that says the IG must appear before them or face contempt charges? 3. They know they have zero jurisdiction based on the highlighted in the above quote and this is what Mr. Falana highlighted, the Nigerian senate obviously saw their own transgressions and shortcomings, hence their inability to sanction the ID or charge him with contempt. 4. It is very sad that this grossly incompetent Nigerian Senate is wasting our time and resources on silly and self-serving issues on an ongoing criminal investigation and trial of one of their members, something they should be a million miles away from, something they shouldn't be in any way talking about because of appearance of partiality and conflict of interest. 4. The Senate is off base because this issue has nothing to do with the Senate, Dino can address any ill-treatment by the Nigerian police by presenting his case before the judiciary for redress. Mr. Falana ave the clueless, ignorant and incompetent Nigerian Senate a face-saving way out and they really need t thank him. 1 Like 1 Share |

jamace:the truth is that it is not clear, the only wording supporting them is inefficiencies and others relate to waste or misuse of funds. Why I said it is because that constitution was a military imposed constitution and there are some ppl who believe it needs many adjustments. I see some even writing America, they know little about there country. The constitution is not perfect and has never been perfect. I can honestly tell you that the word inefficiency is ambiguous out of the four reasons given, three are about corruption or waste. 1 Like 1 Share |

If you read the wordings of the letter to the IG, it was primarily to embarrass the IG over the treatment of Dino Melaye by the police, it has nothing to do with carrying out their legislative duties The Senate went further to implicate itself by stating that the case is already before a competent court of law. The Senate is prohibited from deliberating on any case already before a competent court of law. 1 Like 1 Share

My greatest joy in all these is that one day IGP will account of his stewardship before his Maker then he will left with no choice. Amend your life while you have time |
