Feelers from Eagles camp suggest Leon Balogun is sluggish and has been a shadow of his old self in training. There are strong indications he might not be getting automatic starting shirt in Russia.

E Don be for Simon Moses

JUST IN: Moses ruled out of World Cup

Only 29 players are left in the race to represent Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia.

Moses Simon, one of the players in the 30-man shortlist, has been ruled out the World Cup.

Simon who plays for Belgian Jupiler League side, Gent, will not be making the trip to London for the friendly against England, let alone the World Cup in Russia.

Rohr confirned to PREMIUM TIMES in Port Harcourt that Simon’s World Cup dreams is over

“It is unfortunate Moses Simon will not be travelling with the team on Tuesday because he is down with an injury,” Rohr said on Sunday

“The nature of his injury is such that he won’t be recovering quickly enough to make the World Cup,” he added.

The German tacticician is expected to drop four more players after Monday’s friendly game against DR Congo.

The question was just somehow grin

somehow:

I actually meant the Defence, i definitely know we have other left footers na.. hence the reason i only compared him with Idowu who is the closest to natural LB.

How many wingers do we have more in the team? Just Musa and Moses.. and maybe Iwobi. Rohr had said he picked 2 players in each position first before a meeting with all the rest of the staff to decide the remaining players to make the 30 man list. I want to guess that there might be a call up to replace Moses Simon. Success, Onyekuru? Have your guess.. unless Rohr is satisfied with Lokosa as a winger. Just thinking.

Oasis007:
We've not seen Simy plays in GWG, yet some are already wanting Simon dropped from the final List simply to accommodate Simy?! The same was expected of certain Player, I've forgotten his Name sef, he was rated so high for him to disappoint Everyone.

Simply to accommodate Simy and Joel in the final List, someone is already questioning what Simon brings to the Team...... like seriously?! Though Forgiveness wails a lot, but what's the difference between him and those making the Proposition I listed above?!

Simon ain't just a Team Member, he's an integral, core, member of the Team. Bar Injury, he's certain to be on the Plane to Russia. Aina ain't an integral part of the Team, same as Ebuehi and Idowu, thus if Echiejile must be given Yobo's Treatment, then either of the Trio should make way for him.

On merit Echiejile ain't supposed to be on the final List. He's diminishing at fast Pace, he ain't a modern LB who can transform to a LWB if the Formation changes or Tactics get twisted during a Match. He's not versatile like the other FBs - Shehu can play RB and DM, Ebuehi can play RB, RWB, LB, LWB same as Aina and Idowu, so what's the Essence of going to the Mundial with Echiejile?!

We keep hammering if Simy impresses in Training or in a friendly Match, then he must be selected in the Final List, what about Ajiboye that 80% Members of this Thread already blacklisted from making the Final List?! Why no one is saying if Ajiboye impresses then, he must be selected?! What of Lokosa, what of if he proves himself beyond doubt that he's super-ready to gate-crash? Perhaps Ighalo or Iwobi should be dropped?!

Let's be fair with Team and Players Analyses, also I seize this Moment to advise at the same Time caution Forgiveness?! Sir..... truth be said, you do over-flog Matters - Haba! Argue less and stop thinking you can convince anyone to believe whatever you believe in.

Argument ain't a do or die Affair, and you should know sometimes you win, while sometimes you learn. Also try to adjust and following the trend of the Thread. Concentrate your Energy on analyzing Players in Camp and the possible Players to make the List. Rohr is kinda a fair Coach who has proven himself with Players' Invitations and Selections for the Games.

Enough of labelling the NFF as a corrupt Organization also, coz I can tell you this present NFF Crews are the best we've ever got in this Country. They really meant well for the National Teams and on Course to bring back the glorious Days. Support the Team, the NFF Board and together we can soar higher in Russia.

Shalom, Salaam, Peace.

Alright. I will say what I observe but I will dem after the world cup. Thanks Man

With respect to the players in the team, I can mention some monikers that you can hardly tell where they are from based on their utterances as regards player selection etc.. what makes you a tribalist is the the behavior that stems from that strong loyalty to your tribe, not the loyalty itself, or as it is in your definition, an advocate or practitioner. I want players from my social group to do well (and that's not advocacy). However, if they are not measuring up I will say it as it is. So how am I tribalistic? Just say your are a tribalist and stop trying to rope everyone in. Where are you from by the way, so we can mark you.

Trying to know the tribe of a moniker in order to messure view, is tribalism. Because you will no longer see through reason but through tribe.

No player outside the 30 can be added to the team. The absence of Simon Moses is a blow because it limits our wing options. Kelechi Iheanacho has been deployed on the wings in training and has been the most impressive player in training so far.

BascoVanVeli:
Unai Emery sees massive potential in Arsenal youngsters Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Alex Iwobi

Pre-season cannot come soon enough for Unai Emery following his appointment as Arsene Wenger’s successor.

The 46-year-old impressed in his opening press conference as Arsenal manager and, with formalities now out of the way, work must begin on bolstering the squad he has inherited at the Emirates.

While Emery praised the ‘talent’ of his new players, there’s no doubt that the Gunners will be busy this summer, with the defence and midfield in dire need of reinforcements.

Chief executive Ivan Gazidis gave a glowing account of Emery’s performance during the interview process and has now highlighted the Spaniard’s forensic attention to detail.

It was Emery’s impeccable knowledge of every aspect of Arsenal Football Club and, in particular, his detailed analysis of youngsters such as Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Alex Iwobi which caught Gazidis’ attention.

‘What was really impressive was when you scratched the surface to go deeper and deeper and deeper,’ he told Arsenal’s official website.

‘If we were speaking about one of our young players, if we targeted Ainsley Maitland-Niles for example, Unai knows Ainsley.

‘He’s watched him, he’s familiar with his patterns of play, his capabilities, he’s very excited about his potential and was able to talk about how excited he was to work with Ainsley, to develop him as a player.

‘Very specifically, when you asked the follow-up question and the follow-up question and the follow-up question, you’d get more and more depth about how exactly he would do that, exactly how him and his team would work with an individual player to develop them into the best player they can possibly be and also within the team dynamic.

‘There are a lot of platitudes in the game of football, a lot, and people can speak at a surface level very easily to sound confident and impressive.

‘What’s impressive to me is when you scratch through that and you get deeply involved in what exactly they mean.’

According to The Times, Emery’s camp are also looking closely at Iwobi ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

It’s claimed that coaches in Spain were taken aback by the Nigerian’s performance against Barcelona in 2016 and saw enormous potential.

At the time, Iwobi was yet to even make his full Premier League debut but produced an assured performance in Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat at the Nou Camp.

While Iwobi is yet to fulfill that early potential, Emery is confident that he can get the best out of the 22-year-old.

Emery highlighted Arsenal’s rich history of producing youngsters following his unveiling.

‘I’ve never seen anything handed out for free in football,’ he said.

‘And in terms of Arsenal and their history, the young players have always earned those opportunities.’

My understanding is that your choices will be limited to the provisional list except for special circumstances.

Some teams choose 23 and standby... The replacement for the 23 comes from the standby.
