Lots of people have gone so negative about the probability of our dear SEs performance in Russia. Should one blame them? No! But I one thing I know for sure is if this team fails to win a game in the mundial Rohr should be sacked ASAP. Believe it or not, this team possesses enough personnel to achieve a second round place in the WC despite the 'toughness' of the group, or even surpass it. But over- conservation on the current managers part is pulling things backward for the team. And this should be a certain fact if both flops in the last game get to start against Czech Republic. Surely, Gernot Rohr seemingly lacks pragmatic thinking. I repeat, if any of the fat guy or the clueless Torino man start next game, then we only have a half-execrable coach in charge. 3 Likes |

Mikel Obi and Alex Iwobi have never been played out of position in the Super Eagles. Fact If we say Mikel Obi was played out of position because you're just seeing him play as AMF then you have have never followed Mikel Obi's national team career. This is not the first time Mikel Obi played the AMF role. He has played in there ever since the time he was seen as the direct heir of Jay Okocha but he struggled big time initially until recently he started picking up. Mikel Obi didn’t give good account of himself in the AMF role for donkey years until recently. Fact Alex Iwobi is an AMF/winger though he is more of AMF. Where was he played out of position? Did he play as a DMF or goalkeeper that he was played out of position? If playing Iwobi as a RW or LW is playing him out of position then he didn't give good account of himself in the the first two matches he played in that role. He was so poor and very average. It was in the second leg of our AFCON qualifiers against Egypt that Iwobi gave good account of himself but he didn't play as a winger. He PLAYED THE AMF ROLE. Fact. Even afterwards, Iwobi hasn't really pulled a string playing in that LW or RW. Shehu Abdullahi has never given a good account of himself in the RB position maybe saved the match against Zambia. And how long did that take him? After donkey years of trials and errors. Was it not the same Shehu that caused a penalty against Algeria in the second leg? If he has really given good account of himself, why una wan make Ebuehi take starter position from him? We should not come here and be deceiving ourselves. John Ogu gave good account of himself in what role? I don't think John Ogu gave good account of himself because I saw many lapses in his game which I no go talk. 3 Likes |

Players don't just say that. You play where you are needed in the team as a true professional. They understand they have to do their best whenever they are called to one of the roles they can play. Ogu did very well as CB in Super Eagles camp which is why I was not surprised when he played there on Saturday. Is he a better CB? it was hard to tell from the England match. Shows he showed up when called to play there. And he needed just one half, and in a big occasion (against England) for that matter to show he was also up to the task. Besides one fine grounder pass in his debut, Aina hasn't done anything noteworthy in SE colors. Etebo isn't a CM, but he showed up when he was called to play there, even in a big stage against Barca. True professionals know this that's why they say what they say. They may have a preferred role, but they know that they have to show up when called to the other roles. So let's just call a spade a spade. Aina failed in this regard. forgiveness: 3 Likes |

safarigirl:I wonder what he would say about Sane been dropped for Germany. Truth is Idowu's performance against Argentina sealed his place. Aina didn't wow anybody, and Echiejile is the only left footed LB we have plus his experience, longevity and loyalty to the team. Anyone wailing about Aina not making the squad needs to check himself very well. |

Icon4s:How dem treat am wey some people dey here dey cry? Left for me no player would be dropped out of that 25 but this is what it is. Apart from the fact that Aina has not really wowed us, the main problem I have with him is his casualness. No player in the team gives me such an impression not even Moses. on the whole it would have been fair for him to have been tried as a RB. But the question is if Aina were to be a naija born would this high cry have been heard? 4 Likes |

forgiveness: I don't care if he is in Turkey or Bulgaria, the bottom line is that he has played extremely well for Nigeria whenever he is called upon. His impact against Tanzania and Athletico is far more memorable than anything Aina has offered. Its becoming childish and very hipster the manner people put a glass ceiling on a good player because he doesn't play play in a popular league, even when the quality is undeniable. |

Joebie: Etebo played mostly as a CMF in the U23 and he won the player of the tournament and he has gone to play that role in his club. So, I was not surprised because that was not his first time doing it in La Liga and against England. Besides, players are different. Not all can play different roles but they florish/florished in the only role they play/plaued throughout their lives and are the best in it especially as a RB or LB. e.g Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Marcelo, etcetera. Do that make them unprofessional players? If you think Ogu did very well in the CB position, EOD. |

isan: Pep Guardiola is not an angel but Yaya Toure is a temperamental egomaniac. It’s really reaching to try to get us to believe that Pep was so obsessed with a squad player this season, which is all that Yaya was and that’s being generous. At 34, he must be whacked out of his mind to think he will walk into a top team's first 11. |

Aina did not grab the opportunity when it came to him. There is no running away from this. He did not clearly show that he was better than the alternative. He is still 21 and can still improve and play many years for Nigeria. We should not castigate him too much... 3 Likes |
