I hope Rohr has it in mind that we must beat Czech to regain team confidence before Croatia.

Onazi was not the only player who played poorly against England. Joel obi was poor, Shehu was poor, even Ekong had a dodgy first half.

Onazi has shown maturity and admitted his faults. No other person has done same.

Onazi was very good in the Cameroon double header. Especially in Yaounde, outshined Ndidi twice. He has the ability to play. I think people should cut him some slack.

What stops him from playing in popular league if his quality is undeniable?

Oh! Popular leagues are childish and very hipster the manner they put glass ceiling on a very good player like Musa Mohammed for mediocre players. grin

Welldone sir.
The bolded is a very poor line of thought. We all know the kind of clubs who came calling for Musa but due to poor management and selfishness he found himself in Istanbul.
I mean, even in a match rusty state against Tanzania, Mo' Musa was Aina 3.0. This is a testament to his natural ability.
Aina maybe a good player, but he's definitely not ready for International football.

Iwobi's Joy and passion playing for Nigeria makes me happy. After scoring that goal see the way he was jumping up using his hand to signal to the Nigerian supporters to Shout.
Body language matters in football, sometimes some players that are not so good starts ahead of the others because of their body language.
That's why LINGARD starts ahead of MARTIAL.
AINA's body language playing for us does not show enough passion maybe that was why he was drop.

Musa has better natural ability but poorly schooled especially defensively. I doubt Musa can play in a top league as he plays right now. Aina is better schooled but also has defensive frailties.

A fit Ndidi is a starter for me and Mikel should also start alongside but I don't know Rohr's mind.

If prefers Mikel as the AMF, Ndidi and Onazi are my starters but Iwobi plays the AMF role then Mikel and Ndidi will be my starters.

All depends on the formation because if we play 3 mans defence I expect Ogu should play as one of the CBs.
I don't want to see the Ndidi - Onazi axis against European teams. They'll just press the hell out of Onazi. Mikel's fitness is starting to look suspect to me. Will he have the energy to drop back and help dictate play??

No be only inverted, na inverter.
Iwobi's bright start at Arsenal was actually from the left wing. He can play at the left but likes playing as a 10 more. Simple.

With Musa's natural ability, I imagine he would have improved just like Ebuehi did. I recall Ebuehi saying initially in his early days he wasnt good enough yet for international football.
Aina with all the resources invested in him by Nigeria yet, couldn't acquaint himself. Had Musa been given equal opportunities like Aina and Ebuehi, he would have been ready because the ability is undeniable.

Apart from the fact that Aina has not really wowed us, the main problem I have with him is his casualness. No player in the team gives me such an impression not even Moses. on the whole it would have been fair for him to have been tried as a RB. But the question is if Aina were to be a naija born would this high cry have been heard?
if Aina were naija born, he would not have made the 30-man list and not a whisper would have been heard

Actually using the word flop is over the top but he's more effective playing from the middle.
On the wings you can tell what you will get. Today's he's up, tomorrow he's down

The reason why I like that Awaziem is that he's the most effective long ball player amongst our defenders.

I like good long ball players : they quickly switch the play, launch attacks and save energy.

Why be say our crosses dey dey without intent or conviction.

To cross our players must apply the curl - let the ball bend inwards as it travels afield.

Concerning the England Friendly, I think the main aim of playing friendly matches was achieved.
The aim is to see how prepared you are, but it has been crystal clear that we still have so much work to do.
In spite of the defeat what gladdens my heart is the midfield combo of Joel-Onazi; how the duo have been exposed. It is evident that we cannot depend on the duo and this will inform Rohr's decision going forward. See how much playing time Rohr has given Joel since rejoining the team hoping he can get it right.
Another puzzle that this match solved is IWOBI's Midfield role which many people have advocated for on this thread. In as much as he does well as a winger, I think he will do even better in the midfield.... His creativity is top notch. Apart from Mikel, I think Iwobi is next in terms of creativity (I stand to be corrected)

Bottom line:
Joel - Onazi combination is bullshit
Iwobi more essential in midfield
You don't stand to be corrected. You stand to be supported.

Just because u don't like Onazi doesn't mean u should run away from healthy reasoning. If all our players don't work their socks off we will come back home right after playing Argentina #Fact

Onazi should play his role or step down. It is as simple as that. He has no right to keep exposing the defence to unneccesary pressure to satisfy his urge to dash forward. If Onazi plays his role in the right fashion, I will praise him and not complain. I do not hate Onazi. I want our defensive midfielder doing his role. I do not care who it is but I care that the job is done well by whoever is playing there.

One thing Gernot Rohr still doesn't get enough credit for is his ability to switch tactics at will and change the game completely. Argentina didn't knew what hit them at the second half of our friendly. It was like they were playing a totally different team. The same thing happened in the second half against England although we were not able to get over the line this time. It's actually refreshing to see a coach who knows what to do to change the complexion of the game. It's been a while since I saw such a coach in the Super Eagles set up.

Unfortunately, the World Cup might just be coming a few months too early for Gernot Rohr and his team. I wish that we had an AFCON in March of this year, that would've given Rohr a chance to tweak and refine this team for the World Cup. All in all, let's see what he can do in the next 10 days because this team is NOT yet ready for Russia.

In addition, Rohr needs to have a serious conversation with these FOUR crucial players:
John Obi Mikel - No big man football
Victor Moses - No selfish and aimless dribbling
Alex Iwobi - No childish dilly dallying and more effort at the defensive end
Joel Obi - Quit trying to do too much. Let the game to come to you

If he could get those messages across, then be assured that we'll be fine in Russia.

O pari

Good point...however for me...why should he wait at half time to change tactise? If he gets four goals in the first half...he may have to climb a mountain in the second half....why not change personel or change play within the half...even if it means changing a player in the first half..that way pressure in the second half will be minimal

My brother I just tire. They say Joel and Echiejile's selection were based on sentiments. Now, they have forgotten the meaning of the word sentiment as they are crying for Aina.

Every foreign born that gets invited cannot make the team.

Aina is a young talented player and has a bright future ahead if he continues working hard.

Even post-Russia he will need to compete with our available Wing back options before he can command a starting place.
