Counter attack is negative football. I feel cheated when I hear or read this team being described as a counter attacking team. Counter attack means you are attacked first and you wait to hit back. If I'm a coach I will never play this kind of game. If you pass me, you pass me but I go attack oo, I will attack. Once you have a good midfield and defence why wait to be attacked before you attack?

Poor Agu. I feel for the boy the most. It was a very bad decision to drop him.

Since, Rohr wasn't confident enough to play Awaziem in the last 2 friendlies and even showed it by ignoring him for Ogu who he has converted to a CB, he should have been dropped for Agu.

The boy effort was just in vain. He's the monkey here. Yet Rohr wan use him as an object of mockery by turning him to training material and ball boy in camp.

Awaziem didn't contribute nada in the friendlies and qualifiers yet he's on the plane to Russia. Na wa ooooooo.



2018 World Cup: Ola Aina, Mikel refuse to be standby players in Super Eagles’ squad

The duo of Mikel Agu and Ola Aina have left the Super Eagles’ camp for their respective bases after they were dropped from Gernot Rohr’s final 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup.


Rohr had given both players permission to stay and train with the team as standy players, but they turned down the option.

Mikel Agu has flown back to Turkey, where he spent last season on loan to Bursaspor from FC Porto.


Aina, who knew about his fate even before the team departed England, decided to stay behind in London, instead of following the Eagles to their training camp in Austria.

Rohr has, however, assured the duo about their future with the national team.

NFF technical committee tackles Rohr over World Cup list

A member of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Committee, former Super Eagles midfielder, Garba Lawal, says coach Genrot Rohr did not consult them before announcing the squad for the World Cup in Russia.

Coach Gernot Rohr on Sunday made public a 23-man squad that will prosecute the Mundial, which begin on June 14.

Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, Lawal said none of the committee members was aware of the final list before it was disclosed to the public.

“I got to know about the list on the social media like every other Nigerian. And I was surprised that the technical committee was not told about the list before it was made public.


“It seems we don’t know what we are doing. Rohr is the one that can answer Nigerians why members like Fanny Amun, Victor Ikpeba, Mutiu Adepoju were not consulted.

“At this moment, whether we say yes to Rohr’s list or not, there is nothing we can do again since the final squad has be named,” he said.

The former defensive midfielder while reacting to the complaints on the inclusion of Ogenyi Onazi, said Rohr should be the one to answer the question.

“I am particularly sad that a player like Uche Agbo, who played week in, week out for his club, Standard Liege of Belgium was not given a chance to prove his worth.

“This guy is a utility player, who as a defensive midfielder, can also operate as a defender in the middle and at both wings. Yet such talent was dropped without a look in. I still believe there are qualities in the team that can make us proud in Russia,” he stated.

when Garba Lawal becomes coach, I will see if he will consult the technical committee before releasing his list, talk is cheap, rohr is paid to do his job and should be allowed to take the credit for success and blame for failure. If 170 million nigerians are allowed to make thier own list of players, we would have 170 million different list of players. chikena

that due process has always been on paper, no coach be it foreign or local especially keshi has ever followed that hell of a due process. You can't help someone to do the job you paid him for. All the technical committee members are bloody hypocrites, you think a victor Ikpeba or a muitu will submit his list of players to a kangaroo committee if they were the coach?

Wait - are we talking about the same Musa Rohr invited in his early days?? The same Musa Rohr organized private training sessions for?? The same Musa Rohr spoke about and encouraged him to leave his club to get regular playing time??
Musa was invited before Ebuehi if I'm not mistaken. Rohr probably didn't pay attention to him after he moved and still couldn't nail down a starting spot.
If we're being honest, apart from Echiejile and say Mikel when he was still at Chelsea, how many non starters at club level makes/made our first 11??(Uzoho is one but he plays regularly for the reserves I guess)

I think the decision to work with the technical committee is down to the Coach. If he wants their inputs, fine. If he does not, it is fine. At the end, the technical committee will not bear the load of any criticism that comes with the job.

Aina is a regular at Hull and had an above average season. Echiejile wasn't even getting starts at a second division Belgian side. How many opportunities did Aina get if we're being real?? Yes I know people will point to Ebuehi and talk about how he came and played well against Argentina but he was a bit shaky in his first game for us too.
Yes Aina hasn't killed it but neither did Echiejile. If we all agree Idowu is first choice LB at the moment, why not take a younger Aina to gain experience? His versatility might have come in handy.
