Sorry to say, but I like being candid. There's no where in world you can convince me that Iceland is better than Japan.
Please let's turn a leaf and stop these half truths, it won't get us anywhere. Look at one of the Iceland defenders, the young man worked in a Salt packing factory prior to the world cup, their number 8 is a bar attendant, this much was revealed by a comentator during their match against Argentina, about 4 others are medical doctors. Their goalkeeper Hannes is a professional film maker. I can go on and on...

I was ashamed being a Nigerian when people were going wild with jubilation after beating these guys. Beating these guys should be routine. Their famous results against England, Argentina and the likes is just the case of when a dog bites a man and when a man bites a dog...

Lastly, Colombia looks a better team and in better shape than Argentina in this tournament at least. Recently, Colombia defeated France in Paris, I will eagerly await the result of France Argentina to compare notes.

There's nothing in this article that suggests he is a part time footballer

Would Nigeria not have been a credible opponent against this France.

If we were why did we lose against Argentina?

In all sincerity France is not even playing anything against this Argentine, yet they are winning.

I thought we did well against Argentina, but watching France beat them with little effort now, and remembering how Iceland held them, I think it's a slap to our face. Eagles really screwed up

I doubt that

We would have been a tougher opponent

I'm sure. Although, France might have won but it wouldn't be a total rape

Nigeria played decent football however we were not just good enough. Yet.

France could only score 3 goals in the group stage, today they are 4 goals up against Argentina .

Croatia scored their highest number of goals in the group against Argentina, which was 3

Iceland got a point Argentina

But my Nigeria cry

I'll select the 23-man squad from this pool of players.

GOALKEEPERS
Francis Uzoho
David Nwokolor
Akpan Udoh
Dele Alampasu
Maduka Okoye

Doesn't make sense to have a 19yr old No 1 goalie and have backups in their late 20's and early 30's.

DEFENDERS
William Tróost-Ekóng
Leon Balogun
Chidozie Awaziem
Kenneth Omeruo
Olamilekan Adeleye
Tyrone Ebuehi
Musa Mohammed
Ebube Duru
Ikouwem Udoh
*Dominic Iorfa Jr
*Moses Odubajo
Deji Ousman Beyreuther

Notable absentees are Bryan Idowu and Ola Aina.

In my opinion, Ola Aina is not good enough. Bryan Idowu gets dropped cos of my preference for naturally left footed players as left back which is covered by Ebube Duru, Ikouwem Udoh and Deji Ousman Beyreuther.

MIDFIELDERS
John Mikel Obi
Wilfred Ndidi
Oghenekaro Etebo
Alex Iwobi
Kelechi Nwakali
John Ogu
Uche Agbo
Okechukwu Azubuike
Anderson Esiti
Tosin Kehinde

Dropped are Joel Obi and Oganyi Onazi

ATTACKERS
Paul Onuachu
Ahmed Musa
Moses Simon
Samuel Kalu
Taiwo Awoniyi
Henry Onyekuru
Sadiq Umar
Cyriel Dessers
Junior Lokosa
Victor Moses
Noah Sanreren Bazee
Isaac Success
Victor Osimhen
Kayode Olanrewaju

Dropped are Ighalo, Iheanacho and Simmy Nwankwo. Not good enough for me.

Balderdash assessment.

I agree with 80% of your list.

However Idowu is a good defensive player whether you choose to use him as a LB or not.

Simy did not clock enough minutes
at the World Cup for you to judge him. Going by friendlies alone, he is relevant.

Leave the U20 players to focus on the U20 task: Okoye, Akpan and Ukuowem.

Players should be given a chance to compete in the role(s) they play in their club. That is only fair. The likes of Aina, Joel Obi (seems he was never given an offensive role in SE) and Shehu.

My reservations on Adeleye. I will pick another CB from the Atletico friendly. Ajana is his name I believe.

It’s high time we gave Ajagun a look in.

Osimhen is not ready. I’d rather have Olayinka.

Players we need to make a move for: Adarabioyo and Phillip Billing

Adarabioyo not good enough.

He is surrounded by quality players that defend as they attack.

He has not really smelled the first team in any meaningful game.

Watch him when he goes on loan if any better club will have him.

A guy who works in the off season in a salt packing factory is a professional player?
Even Ezenwa does not work in a factory during the NFL off season.

Please Uzoho cannot be compared to Enyeama yet. Under no circumstance must there be this comparism for now.
I recall Enyeama saved more than 8 shots from Messi similar to the one that beat Uzoho back in 2010. Uzoho still has a long way to go.

A BIG THANK YOU FOT SAYING IT AS IT IS

No Sane coach will discard Achor, Aina, Simmy and Olayinka plus Billing. Forget Adarabioyo he isn't interested, I would rather captie Tomori and send him down to the U23s.

I would give both Chinedu Ajala and Steve Eze chances ahead of Adeleye. I would give Deji and Ikouwem chances because I wasnt impressed by Idowu.

Tomori not good enough not better than Aina.

This thread should be pinned to the top of the Sports section
There are many reasonable and reliable info being presented here which can be a immense benefit to the NFF
Furthermore, there is need for our players to get regular playing time for clubs they join, enough of bench warming players.
Heard MoSimon knocking on Liverpool door and Kel Nwakali on his way to Porto on loan, how i wish Uzoho will move out of Serial B into a premier league side in Spain.
Nobody of Nigerian descent should be begged to play for us cuz we have abundant talents begging to play for the SE

How do you measure abundant talent by world standards or Alaba market standard.

So tell me the abundant talents and clubs they play for please

It was on this thread the larger majority concluded that KC was better than Mbappe. Thar he was a world class talent.

So tell me the talents please.

Second to none.

If he doesn't prove himself this coming season, then I'm afraid his downward spiral may only continue

Going by their statements Uduokhai is the more likely. But he doesnt seem to have made a decision between Nigeria and Germany. I think with the German boys, Rohr will be the first to know as regards any updates.

I don't believe any of these guys are actually better than Dominic Iorfa.

But despite thier open and continous shunning of Nigerian SE we still begging them. But for reasons unknown Dominic Iorfa has been side stepped and ignored.

He made a commitment clear and open last summer but no invitation.

Double standard operating here why

I watched them at the Euros and they were pretty tasteless. They always had 9 men behind the ball and relied on set pieces because they lack the talents to go toe to toe with anyone.
Their captain admitted as much that they frustrated the life out of teams by parking the bus during the qualifiers because they lacked personnel to play real football.
I choose not to rate a team of semi professionals ahead of a traditional world cup team and continental champions. It's a travesty for Nigeria to celebrate defeating the Icelands of this world. How the mighty have fallen.

The draws were made since late last year and you never mentioned a single word about they being semi-professionals. I am sure you even tipped them to beat Nigeria.

To you any team Nigeria beats are a piss team.

Talking about parking buses, every team has a strategy that works for them. After all defending is also part of the game.

I am sure if Nigeria had won this World Cup you would have called other nations that took part semi-professionals.

The boy needs to be loved and Pellegrini could be just the coach for that. Also there is Patrick Viera in Nice who coached him at youth level. I remember Iheanacho saying how much confidence the man gave him.

Do you really think that there will be clubs queuing up to have him after his abysmal season and shambolic world cup.
