With Samuel Kalu, Onyekuru, Nacho, Musa, Simon Moses, I see Kayode falling down the pecking order. In the not so distant future, I see Onyekuru - Nacho - Success as our lethal setup in the near future and Nacho - Success as the ideal pair when we play with two upfront.

Chaaaiiiii... Success living up to his potentials will make this equation extra sweet. Chaaaiiiii... Another option is also Onyekuru-Nacho-Kalu... cheesy Such juicy potential striking combo options...

Now we talking potentially really super-duper scarily lethal firing squad... Kabayakatangantookabazookaaaaa!!!

Lol... Sure. They are most times wrong and sometimes right. ANS is another with hit and miss records also. Lol..

Joebie:
Of course they have gotten some in the past. This was a rare hit though considering a few would have guessed it.

Onyekuru - Nacho - Musa will make a more mobile, creative and lethal setup than playing Ighalo in the center. I always look at the Forward setup as a unit and we going with mobility, creativity and lethality as the ideal ingredient for it.
Will not work against a deep block and will depend on if we have a ball carrier behind.
We saw as much against Iceland till Etebo had a better half and Iceland opened up a bit.
Ighalo at the middle can hold and link up play better against a deep block

Why can’t Onazi be dropped from warming the bench? Granted, we are playing Seychelles, but aren’t we trying to be even a better team post-WC? Doesn’t mean he can’t be invited in future should his replacement perform below expectation.

We don’t need to temper with the core of the team, but we need to keep looking for players that can unsettle their regular status.

It is Onazi'spast exploits that are saving him for now

You need to watch the game again. When Ighalo came on, he hardly hard chance to breathe. Every moment he got on the ball, the Argentines pressed in droves and retrieved the ball from him. The only thing people can hinge on is that Ighalo won fouls but that was due to his inability to break down the opposing defence.

When Ighalo had the chances he missed, the Argentines were pushing for the win.

Gerrit?
Ighalo won fouls for us. He held the ball up reasonably well and was mobile enough. You're making it look like he's Giroud or something. He's quite mobile and can dribble pass defenders...something Nacho doesn't seem to do too well.

Eagles Get Saudi Arabia Friendly Before Liberia

Talk of a possible international friendly between the Super Eagles and Liberia’s national team, Lone Stars might be put on hold for now, as Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have agreed for a game with Saudi Arabia.

While Liberia were looking to have the Eagles grace a friendly in Monrovia to honour their president, George Opong Weah, the NFF are already in talks with Saudi Arabia Football Federation (SAFF) over a friendly between the two nations next month.

The proposed friendly is expected to hold on September 11, three days after the Eagles tackle Seychelles in their second match of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

A friendly between both teams would further cement growing relations between the two countries, boosted by recent transfer of Nigerian trio of Ahmed Musa, Joseph Akpala and Paul Onobi to Saudi Professional League clubs Al-Nassr, Faisaly and Najoom respectively.

The last time Nigeria and Saudi Arabia faced off in a friendly on May 25, 2010, a match in which the two nations battled to a goalless draw.
The Saudi Arabian team have won the AFC Asian Cup three times and won the regional Arabian Gulf Cup in 1994, 2002 and 2003 plus the Arab Nations Cup in 1998 and 2002.

In the latest FIFA world ranking, the Eagles’ potential opponents are ranked 70th, while they occupy the fifth position among Asian Football Confederation countries.

iheanacho worked against Algeria, the Algerian manager and an Algerian journalist hammered on Nacho's mobility being key to our success. Against South African, Nacho's mobility was there, caused the South Africans problems but due to lack of creativity behind our front line, we did not take advantage of it. That should be a plus but people repeatedly tried to paint his play as a negative which I disagree.
Nacho had an average game against Algeria. We've discussed this deeply for ages now.
Rohr would not have brought back Ighalo if Nacho was great as you say.
We saw the difference when Ighalo replaced him in the starting 11 against Cameroon and Zambia.

Cool down Royal one.

On Billing, he has to switch allegiance I think having represented Denmark U-21.

On Eze, well Rohr made up his mind on K.Nwakali even before Russia.

On Deji Beyreuther, let him play first naa... At least the Jamilu lad is playing and both are options at LB and look like fine prospects.

It is a shame that Liberia lost the president's son to USA.
That said I am sure the NFF will get good money from Saudi but the Liberian sports minister confirmed their friendly last night on Soccer Africa. We could split the team in half. It would be a good way to get guys playing time. Liberia would just need some big name players so maybe a popular guy like Iwobi goes with a few Homebase lads.

Ebere Eze and Etebo play in the same league, their respective teams have been losing but while Ebere has started and completed every match played by his team, Etebo has been a bench warmer that makes only cameo appearances, yet, Ebere was over looked for Etebo. This is the same thing Keshi did with Oduamadi and Isariemen Ebagua when both were playing for Brescia in the Serie B, while Ebagua was the goal king in the entire league, Oduamadi was finding it difficult to see game time talk more of scoring goals, yet Keshi was inviting Oduamadi instead of Ebagua for reason best known to him.

So it's 2 matches as a sub you are using to call Etebo a bench warmer?

It’s gonna be hard for us to come up with a standard of measure if going by our arguments for so many pages is anything to go by. One man says we should rate players based on the league they play. Has Etebo suddenly become a poor player Warming the bench in the Championship? There are many factors to look into. Opportunity is the keyword. You never know who is better than who though there’re are indicators which are rather suggestive than conclusive.

Funnily I know about the back and forth, but my knowledge of mathematical modelling will help and bring all relevant parameters to be considered and used in this new standard. I'll however love if stats gotten from playing time be majorly used. still an ish ba? well lemme sit and model grin

You people should leave Kelechi out of your discussions for once. It is not always Ighalo vs. Iheanacho or Kayode vs. Iheanacho

So, let us say you want to drop a forward. You will drop Kelechi before you drop Ighalo, abi?

What can Ighalo offer you? Put their stats side by side. How many goals? How many assists?

Ighalo has 22 games, with 4 goals and 1 assist

Kelechi has 20 games with 8 goals and 4 assists

Kelechi dey like bumper package of Ighalo. If Ighalo is Camon X, Kelechi is Camon X Pro. If Ighalo is Android 7.0, Kelechi is Android 8.0

So, please, allow us to complain about the weakest forward in the team. Forward that does not give us hope of goal, forward that once he enters, we know say we no fit win match again. Forward that cannot inspire confidence, what are we using him for?

Ighalo again? Are we going to hold up play against common Seychelles? I'm still ruminating on the disappointment he, Victor Moses and Rhor caused us in last world cup.

Anyway, what am I even doing here! I'm out.

Has Etebo lost quality overnight? The season has just started. You can make a case for Eze, but it’s too early to conclude he is better than Etebo. They play under different coaches, with different teammates and probably different style of play, meaning if Etebo were in QPR he may be a regular, and who knows Eze may be benched in Stoke. hence, you can’t make that conclusion PREMATURELY. The keyword remains opportunity, or we would never know. IMO, Eze definitely deserves a look to replace Etebo as soon as the latter starts to slack in the GWG.

Even if Ighalo scores a hart-trick against Seychelles, would it really count in his favor? That’s the big question oh. Rohr seems to want to prove a point with Ighalo, but I don’t think any invited player can prove a thing to me against Seychelles, unless until we meet a formidable team. We are not going to AFCON to play teams in the caliber of Seychelles.

The homebased players are rusty due to the NPFL season on hold.. Nigeria can field another set of players based im Europe for the Liberia game, all expense paid by the inviting associations — nothing to lose, lots to gain. We have a plethora of players who deserve opportunity to show their stuff.

Lookman hopefully on the move to Germany permanently

Ademola Lookman transfer: Everton star edging to £25million RB Leipzig move after being left out of squad

The England Under-21 winger impressed on loan at the Bundesliga club during the second half of last season

RB Leipzig have made a fourth offer of around £25m for Everton’s want-away Ademola Lookman.

The German’s have had two bids rejected and a third of £22m last Sunday met with a counter proposal from Everton demanding £28m plus add ons.

Leipzig hope Everton will be willing to compromise and that their improved bid, a record fee for the Bundesliga outfit, will finally be enough to see them land their man.

Forward Lookman, 20, has been left out of Everton’s squad for Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth with his exit understood to be imminent.

The Toffees initially declared Lookman not for sale when the issue of his future was first discussed this summer.

But they have changed their minds following the arrivals of Richarlison and Bernard and especially the early displays of the former, who has scored three times in his first two appearances.

With the Brazilian duo added to the squad Lookman’s playing time would be further reduced and Everton fear his value will only fall if he remains at Goodison Park but is given minimal playing time.

New sporting director Marcel Brands has proved to be a tough negotiator in the deal by making sure Everton will receive a fee well above Lookman’s current market value and the £11m deal they struck when they signed him from Charlton in January 2017.

Brands is also ensuring Everton are well-rewarded if Lookman does well in Germany by insisting on a number of performance-related bonuses in the deal.

Lookman made a dream start to Everton career when when he scored with his first shot for the club on a fairytale debut, a 4-0 win against Manchester City.

But his Everton experience turned sour under Sam Allardyce last season, prompting him to force a loan move to Leipzig in the second half of the campaign.

The signings of Richarlison and Bernard have all but confirmed his fears about his prospects at Everton.
And, having reiterated his desire to leave this week, boss Marco Silva has now accepted that it is best for all concerned if Lookman is allowed to leave.

Feels great to be back, says Onyekuru
By Ayo Olu Ibidapo

*Player relishes Super Eagles return

Super Eagles’ forward, Henry Onyekuru is elated after being handed a call-up for Nigeria’s upcoming game away at Seychelles, saying that he was happy to return to the Eagles’ fold, AOIFootball.com reports.

The 21-year-old attacker, who has been in form with new club Galatasaray, told AOIFootball.com after the list was announced earlier on Friday, that he will give his best if handed an opportunity to impress on the pitch.

“First, I’m extremely happy to be back with the national team and I’m ready to give my best on and off the pitch of play.

“I know how important this clash is to the country following our loss to South Africa last year; hopeful, we won’t disappoint Nigerians when we square up against Seychelles next month,” Onyekuru said.

The Galatasaray striker last featured for the Super Eagles in their 1-1 draw against Algeria last November, subsequently missing out on Nigeria’s World Cup party in Russia due to injury.

First a furrow of the brows, then a blank stare, then a rush to Google.

That was largely the reaction to the name 'Jamilu Collins' as it was read out at the press conference which announced Nigeria's squad for the Africa Cup of Nations 2019 qualifier against Seychelles.

The 24-year-old is the latest member of the Super Eagles, and a legacy of a long search for the solution to a problem position: left-back.

Born in Kaduna, the defender earned his professional stripes with Croatian side Rijeka, whom he joined at the age of 18. After spending some time in their youth ranks, he bounced around on loan in the Croatian second division with NK Pomorac and HNK Sibenik, before finding his way (via another loan move) to the top division with NK Istra.

Rijeka, however, were unconvinced, and after another brief spell with Sibenik, they let him go at the end of his contract in 2017.

Their loss would be the gain of German club Paderborn, then in the third-tier of German football, who promptly snapped him up. With his strong performances from full-back, they won promotion to 2. Bundesliga last season.

His efforts have apparently not gone unnoticed, and he will be expected to provide a lasting and final replacement for Elderson Echiejile, who has held the left-back spot for over half a decade.

While the mere fact that he is naturally left-footed (unlike Bryan Idowu, who filled in at the World Cup) and younger than Echiejile are points in his favour, Collins is a strong contender in his own right. A physical player whose aggression will serve him well in African football, he is also capable going forward.

He possesses reasonable speed and favours low crosses along the turf, either to the near post or across the face of goal. His frame means he is not easily outmuscled, and he can go shoulder-to-shoulder with most players, whether in a defensive or offensive capacity.

If there is a worry about Collins, it is that he can be sometimes too aggressive. However, it is a welcome change to have a natural wide option to stretch teams. If he takes to the challenge of international football, Rohr may well have scratched one of his biggest itches.

Ighalo yet to have an explosive game or offensive force as Nacho.

Finito.
Explosive in what aspect?? Ighalo has had better performances in his first season at Watford in the epl if we're being objective.
Nacho is a better finisher and has a final ball. Anything else he lags behind Ighalo. Ighalo was turning CBs inside out in his first epl season with the "Ighalo scoop". So abeg don't make it seem he's like Jan Koller or Giroud
