Hey guys

I want to grill some chicken 2mrw but I have a few questions

First off I've got an electric grill.... Which I'm not sure I'd want to take out of the box (too many things in the carton and my husband isn't in town to help me rearrange) so I've opted to use my oven but my oven doesn't have like a flat tray per say. It has the kibd of rails a grill has.

My question is, should I cook the chicken first? (it's my first time)

Also when in the oven, do I put foil all over the oven grill?

No. You don't have to cook the chicken before grilling because that means the chicken might end up being overcooked.
2. Yes put a foil over the oven rail so that way the juice coming out from the chicken while being grilled doesn't affect the oven. I usually use a foil pan most times when using the oven.
Also using a foil means the chicken grills more with its juice (spices used on the chicken)

Saw this on instagram.

I personally don't like the conventional "boil and fry" chicken. I want a little adventure. But when I check online or watch food network, the marinade is just something I can't get here.

So, is there anyone that has a different recipe as to how to marinade chicken to give it a different taste using realistic Nigerian ingredient. I would appreciate.

Ps: I'm a bombom and wing chicken crew too. I also like the legs and I prefer all not fried.

I've seen some recipes involving wine. Especially red wines. Try looking that up

For me.
It depends on the chicken I'm grilling. If it's the tough chicken, then I parboil before I marinate overnight. If it's broiler, I just marinate overnight and then grill in the morning.

If you'll be using the grill inside, then put a foil over the other tray at the bottom to avoid those sticky stains.
Or you can use a baking tray, so that the juice from your mix is fully absorbed into the chicken and nothing goes to waste.

Finally done....
Didn't like it much....
I over salted it.
Didn't taste as cooked as I like it to be....

Will just chop it up into pieces and use it to cook jollof rice.

Maybe next time I'll get it right

Sorry about that ma'am. Next time use almost the lowest degree of heat; that way it cooks well.
Also taste your marinade spice before mixing in. I add honey or ginger if it's too salty.
You'll definitely get better in doing it.

I hope this helps

Nice comment from MNDE18

You don't need to cook the chicken first, just apply small slits with a knife on it.They come out so juicy and delicious.

Note: If your pieces of chicken are thick, you may need to lower the rack to be sure they cook to the proper internal temperature. And make sure you always Preheat the oven. Enjoy tongue

Why did you placed the foil on the rack?

Thanks so much. I'll definitely try it again.

I guess where I made errors were that I didn't pre heat the oven and I didn't put small slits on the chicken like @chasers suggested. I also left my oven on the highest heat the whole time.

Thank you too @mariangeles

Why did you placed the foil on the rack?

I thought that was the best place to put it
The lower part of my oven is where you light the oven so I thought it wouldn't be appropriate there

From the oven photo you upload, I saw two rack. Nest time place the foil on top of the lower rack and your chicken on the first.

Another method :After the foil on the rack like you did, turn the rack over to the other side were there is no foil and place your chicken
