Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by mightyokwy(m): 3:08pm On Sep 13, 2018 |
Frankrobbn1:
mightyokwy, The content of an LOE can begin this way...
The Visa Officer, Deputy High Commission of Canada, 4 Anifowoshe street, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.
Sir/Madam,
Sub: Re-application for Study Permit
Mightyokwy. 2 years Masters in Computer Science University of British Columbia.
I applied for a Study Permit for Canada on the 15th of July, 2018 for my masters Programme in computer sciences at the University of British Columbia for the fall term 2018 and got refused on the 24th of August, 2018 the second time.
The Study Permit refusal was based on the following reasons;
• PURPOSE OF VISIT • CURRENT EMPLOYMENT SITUATION • LIMITED EMPLOYMENT PROPECTS • FINANCIAL STATUS/ ASSETS
I also ordered my GCMS notes and have gone through the detailed rejection reasons. I wish to offer the following clarifications with a request to kindly reconsider my application and grant me the Study Permit.
GCMS NOTES;
COPY AND PASTE YOUR GCMS NOTE HERE:
The ground for rejection of my Visa application and clarification are mentioned here under;
1-) PURPOSE OF VISIT - Discuss about the lucrativeness and reasonableness of undertaking your proposed program in Canada at a high expense when there are similar available program here in Nigeria. Show strong correlation between your previous studies, current employment status with your proposed program. Also provide documentations to evident your claims.
2-) FAMILY TIES IN COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE - In as much as we know that the visa officers are not custodians of knowledge, you need to provide sufficient ties that can compel your return back home like : Landed properties, business assets, investments, shares certificates etc. Go further by listing out the obligations you've here in Nigeria which you can't abandon for a foreign education. While doing this, provide documentations to support your claims.
3-) CURRENT EMPLOYMENT SITUATION - Talk more on the experience you have gained so far in your current employment and how it's translated to your intended program. Mention your duties at your place of work that have triggered your passion to further your studies abroad. Tender documents like employment letters, introductory letter, payslips slips, etc... in support of your employment status.
4-) Furthermore, pick out some points raised by the Visa officer from the GCMS notes, discuss about them and provide brief explanation.
I would be grateful if you reconsider my application and permit me to study Masters in Computer Sciences at the University of British Columbia.
Thank you for your time and reconsideration.
Your's Faithfully,
Mightyokwy
I hope this gives you an insight of what you seek. All the best! This is great. Thanks so much. |

Please can someone help me out? Awuuga: Good morning everyone,
I have followed this thread for a long time and it has helped me prepare for my application. Special shoutout to @frankrobbn1 oga Jeremy, Kyle from Ghana and everyone else who has helped the newbies one way or the other. My hope is that at some point we'll tell our victory story.
Now to the issue at hand, the documents for my application are almost ready, i wanted to run my sponsor's financial position by the house. My sponsor is my mum, she has paid half of my tuition fees (CAD 14,000), she has also paid in my living expenses for one year CAD 10,000 into my account. The closing balance in her company account which she is a primary signatory to ( its a family company) is 10 million naira, she also has about 8,000 US dollars in her dom account, landed properties evaluated at about 60 million naira and evidence showing a contact source of income.
My questions are 1) Is the financial profile above strong enough? 2) Is it absolutely necessary for her to pay the CAD 10,000 for a year's living expenses into my account?
I'd really appreciate your various answers.
Best regards. |

Best regards. Awuuga, 1-)Your mother's financial establishment is sufficient only if she doesn't have much dependents to cater for. Please make sure she gets a reference letter from the bank stating that she's the sole signatory to this company account. 2-) I don't think it's important for her to transfer money to your personal account, reasons because she is your biological mother and it's generally known by the Visa officers that parents can't leave their children stranded in a foreign country. Transferring of funds is a good option when you're making use of third party sponsorship, those who are not close relative (uncle, aunt, company or employer) to evidence funds accessibility to the applicant. Hence, your mom already paid first term tuition is adequate to proof her financial commitment. It's left for you, If you want her to effect the transfer... Fine!, but it's not compulsory. Even if she wants to, let it be in a dorm account to show that funds are already in convertible currency and can be easily exported to Canada when your TRV is approved. All the best! 1 Like |

makano: Sorry for ur delay bro, but let me chip this in. Ur profile is obviously good for TRV approval as against the reasons for ur refusal. One thing about this CIC people that I have personally observed is the VOs that attend to applications. Lets assume 10 VOs attend to ur Application differently, am sure 6 will approve you cos there is progression in Career in ur App, u have strong Employment prospect and also u have other visas stamped on ur passport. Personally I have seen peeps here getting approval without SOP or LOE, and also without statement of Account. Like one of my friends who is in Canada told me a year ago, he said this Visa Officers also work on application based on their mood, A VO that is angry from home and gets to the office, its obvious the first application(that is so tight) she will work on will be affected(Likely Refusal) based on her current mood. While a VO that got an increase in pay or got promotion and works on an Application that isnt really tight can because of her happy mood just approve the application bebe. So my point is that these applications are in the hands of the VO that attends to them. I have noticed that one prayer we fail to pray here is that God should make our application get to the hands of the right VO(the happy Vo). please order for ur GCMS note and patiently tackle the reasons, take ur time and do not rush. And ur next application will def be approved. I await ur approval in the next application. I do not think this has anything to do with the VO's mood. The system makes it possible for them to refuse Nigerians visa with flimsy excuses. An ICCRC certified Attorney once told me that over 85% of Nigerian applicants are being denied Canadian Study visa. I suppose these VOs are given monthly quotas and once they meet their monthly target they cast die or do oje-koje to decide on who to approve/deny visa. The system has been designed to create wealth for Canada's economy. 5 Likes |

Do TA positions which are part of university funding also form part of the 20 hours work for international students? Pls clarify. Frankrobbn1:
olaxmatic07,
The properties which you intend selling, will the funds be sufficient to cater for your first year tuition and living expenses in Canada? As a Canada study visa candidate, you're meant to show proof of financial sufficiency for your first year of studies in Canada without working and no recourse to public funds. By doing so, the consular officer will also check the source of income and the possiblity of funding for future years of study in Canada. At this juncture, you will need a guarantor that will stand to provide strong financial backing for your proposed 5- years program(Bsc Civil Engineering) in Canada.
As an International Student, you're entitled to work 20hours per week during school hours and 40hours during school breaks mainly towards the spring/summer. Working and paying for your tuition, as well as your living expenses while in Canada as an international student is very difficult. I would rather say it's impossible, considering that you're heading for a lucrative undergraduate course in civil engineering. You will always need continued financial support from your guarantor at least to for your tuition, while you handle the rest of the expenditures yourself like.. Housing, feeding, transportation and taxes etc.. Be guided properly that getting a job as new timer (fresher) is also very difficult, in as much as most employers in Canada require employees with Canadian working experience. Many students stay up to 6-12months prior to securing a job in Canada. Therefore, don't have the mindset that once you arrive Canada, you can get a job straight up and commence work immediately.
Now to the aspect of staying back after studies. After successful completion of your degree program in Canada, you will be eligible for the pgwp program (post graduate work permit), this allows you to stay back and work legally without restrictions as a foreign graduate in Canada, while making plans for your permanent residence.
All the best! |

There is no qouta, so far someone meets the minimum criteria and requirements , you have a 70 percent chance of getting your TRV .some people don't go you school after getting the study permit and some find it difficult to pay tuition fees and they submitted bank statements with big closing balance.We are a third world country and they know we might not come back after the program . Most experienced professionals dont come back if they have visas to all these first world countries. |

Are these number of persons (5) still under her care? If there are some that are already married or working in their respective offices, then her financial resources is sufficient. Moreover, the era of insufficient funds for CIC has passed, you're left with a big task to convince the visa officer beyond reasonable doubt that your intent of travelling to Canada is strictly for studies and would leave after your authorized stay by providing sufficient ties back home. |

Toritseyemi: Good morning everyone, this is my first post. I applied for a Canadian study permit online and these have been my timelines:
Applied online: June 10th Biometric request: June 12th Biometric done: June 20th Medical exam request: August 23rd Medicals done: August 29th Last change on status: August 31st; showing medicals.
I spoke to an IRCC agent on the 6th of September who said my application was being processed in london. I had sent several CSE's to CIC with no response asides the automatic response. Sent CSE to London VO twice, no response. Sent several emails to Lagos, Abuja, Accra, just receive automated responses.
My school resumed on the 4th of September, deadline extended to the 17th of September. Still no change. I have a valid Candian visa, when i get the final decision, can i travel and get my permit activated at the POE or i still have to drop my passport? Congrats!! Only a matter of time before your approval shows up. I have had a hard time too contacting CIC lately. No response. They are not hard-pressed concerning people whose school has started. They indifferent to our pains cos they don't walk in our shoes. They just take their sweet time it appears. I am dealing with someone presently who travelled on a visitor's visa and visitor visa got converted to student visa at POE. I met him here in the house and happy to hook you up to him if you are interested. But I will advise you really wait for CIC and I am expecting your visa to be out very very soon. You will have to resume another one week or two weeks at most, extremely late. Better late than never. Or if your deferral lifeline is not all used up, you might want to defer to winter. Ps: I have decided henceforth to seriously reduce my contributions in the discussions here. It is apparent many people come here come with a feeling of entitlement to the information they are getting here. And at the end of the day, they don't appreciate it. Henceforth, I will chip in only to the most serious questions possed here. A couple of times a week henceforth will be my just service. 4 Likes |

Sorry MBBS is not given to foreigners in Canada to study!! Your kid sister can take course from pharmacy or nursing but not for MBBS Can you please say what you know?? Getting into an MD or DO school in Canada is tough for Canadians. Most of them actually apply to US medical schools. One of the reasons a foreigner won't be considered is finance. Medical school can cost as much as $400k/year..that is 120million naira per year. Most Canadians attend Medical schools on loans.. Pharmacy school cost roughly the same.. Getting in is also very competitive. The vast majority of Canadians are in US pharmacy schools.. Optometry is also the same.. I think (not sure about this) that Canada has just two optometry school. Least I forget. Medicine,Dentistry,pharmacy,optometry and even law are all postgraduate programs. You require a bachelor's degree to get in... 1 Like |

Your sister can't get into pharmacy school If she doesn't have a bachelor's degree.. Getting into a nursing program might be very difficult if not impossible... I would advise she tries any of the life/health sciences, then switch programmes when she gets to Canada.. If this part doesn't work out.. She could do the 2year graduate option for those with bachelor's... Midwifery in Canada is an excellent field. More autonomy than nursing... She should consider it. |
