Nigerians are too superstitious. This is why a lot of horror movies don't get shown in cinemas.

"Get out" didn't come out in Nigerian cinema. The first black horror Hollywood movie.

undecided

Get out, very wonderful movie although i don't regard it as horror.

If you're a big fan of ABBA, you'll enjoy the part 1 because while the storyline was weak to me, the classic ABBA ballads were strong enough to power it through, plus I think it's a "girlie" (I hope I'm not coming off as a sexist using that phrase) film. I think you'll love it. The songs got me reminiscing of my childhood days and made me remember it's been over 10 years since I last played an ABBA song.

Mamma Mia! 6/10.

I'll download the second part later today and see if it'll better than its predecessor.
Not a massive fan but I like some of their songs. Haha I’m not taking it as sexist, yeah doesn’t look like it’s groundbreaking or anything but it looks cute and cheerful. I’ll watch it eventually. Thanks!

You didn't add 1408.

1408 was scary, but Event Horizon and The Ring creeped me out for a long time after.

So, initially when I read about the plot and reviews about the movie ACRIMONY, I blamed Melinda for all the woes the befell her but now after I saw it, I shift part of the blame to JUNE(her first sister) , I mean they really convinced her to make her believe he still cheated on her the second time
Who is with me?

You're wrong to assert such. Nigerians are way too superstitious, but other horror movies have been shown in the cinema too, so Get Out not coming out in our cinemas had nothing to do with superstition, that's if you're 100% sure the movie was shown in the cinemas in the first place.

Ogbeni keep quiet. Get out did not come to cinemas in Nigeria.

I watch all major movies at the cinema. That is my hobby. I waited for "get out" to come to Silverbird or genesis cinemas but it did not come out.

I think the evil dead remake too didnt come out as well.

I'm not sure if i am with you about that, her sisters acted like any other sister who sees her younger one sacrificing everything for a man.
I feel melinda believed her sister because she was tired, tired of life, tired of love (though i believe she stopped feeling love and started feeling responsibility), tired of the sacrifices and responsibility that she would have believed anything and used it as an excuse to be free. I felt she just wanted to feel loved and appreciated once again.
Now, my opinion, i still blamed the dude and believe he never loved her. If he did, he would have tried his best to get her back which would have been so easy, all he just had to do was court her all over again, mske her feel loved and appreciated because that's all she ever needed, to be truly loved. A lady who went through all that for a guy should never be cast aside all because she believed he cheated, i mean, he knew the kind of woman he married that she can be so crazy when she feels cheated on. He should have just be persistant, he did for over 18years just to get his work acknoldeged, why not for the woman who stood by him through it all.

You didn't add 1408.

The one about a skeptic author that deliberately lodged in suite 1408 in order to debunk a myth surrounding the hotel suite, right? The film has an alternative ending, btw.

Supernatural and psychological horror movies are the best....

Slasher horror movies are now lame.

Lord knows I am done with horror after watching Annabelle: Creation. I will never watch horror movies again. It's messed up.

I've watched the Descent. Very nasty sad

There was something about 'It Follows' that didn't allow me go beyond the first five minutes of the movie. I didn't even know it was horror back then, but something turned me off completely and I've not watched it till this day.

I can understand why you couldn't watch It Follows. The film shares a lot of similarities with one the scariest of them all, The Ring. Their theme is basically that evil is coming for you, and you can only avoid it if you pass the curse on to someone else.

It's a horror, but of the psychological variety. Same way Silence of The Lambs and Se7en were psychological horrors. The themes have deep meanings behind them, and you're supposed to ponder on them afterwards.

And Upgrade is not a horror. It was marketed as a sci-fi, and that's exactly what it is.

My bad then, I thought it did. But I insist, it not coming to Naija cinemas had nothing to do with superstition. What's even superstitious about the movie that other horror movies that have been shown in our cinemas don't have? Or you think cinema owners give a hoot about any worthless superstition when there's money to be made?

my theory why it wasn't shown is; it's probably because it's a low budget movie and it had no major star attractions in its cast, hence no massive hype surrounding it before people discovered it's a nice horror movie. It's probably why it wasn't really considered to be shown in our cinemas then. I mean, I even initially refused to watch it due to I'd some suspicions over the movie and its lesser known actors until my cousin convinced me to watch it.
