Buhari is certainly an ethnic bigot, but picking 4 international airports to focus on doesn't necessarily mean he deliberately set out to discriminate against Igbos. You would note that there are 4 airports being revamped at pace for the 6 geopolitical zones. You failed to factor that the North East are disadvantaged too. Kano's airport would basically be serving the massive 13 states of the core North in the NW and NE. In geopolitical calculations, the SE due to its location on the Nigeria map often gets grouped with the SS. Which would make sense seeing as we're in close proximity (you could basically group both the SS and SE together as a united SE) and are the 2 smallest regions by landmass, with some elements of cultural affinity too. Anambra, Imo and Abia are closer to the PH airport than Edo or Cross River are to PH even though Edo, Cross River and PH are in the same geopolitical zone. Those SE states are closer to PH than Kaduna or Zaria in Kaduna state are to Kano's airport, even though Kaduna and Kano states share borders. These are practical considerations.

Another hard truth here is the role that Stella Oduah played as Transportation minister. Woman should be stoned for her incompetence and disloyalty to her zone. It was under her that the Enugu airport runway degenerated so badly , arriving passengers were swimming in flood to get to the terminal and she did some woeful cosmetic touches in the name of renovation at inflated cost.

On the day of independence, there were three major ethnic groups of Hausa-Fulani, Yoruba and Igbo, and there was the federal capital and regional capitals in Kaduna, Ibadan and Enugu. Each of the three major ethnic groups had cities in their regions which they nurtured and saw as the pride of their regions. The Yoruba had Ibadan, and when the federal capital moved to Abuja they moved in to claim Lagos as theirs; the Hausa-Fulani had Kaduna and Kano; the Igbo had Enugu and Port Harcourt. The machinations by the other two against the Igbo in the lead-up and during the uncivil war eventually removed Port Harcourt from Igbo influence and handed it over to the Ijaw, while encouraging the Igbos left within River state to deny the Igbo heritage.....this now left Igbos with only Enugu. Now any neutral reading this would say in the interest of fairness and equity that Enugu should be given equal status as Lagos, Kano, Kaduna and Port Harcourt since that is all they have left, but not the likes of you! You'd rather Ndigbo go down to Port Harcourt and share with the Ijaws, Ogbas, Ikwerres, etc! Share with people who haven't hidden their disdain, suspicion and hatred for Igbos! If you were in the shoes of Ndigbo, would you accept this? I know for a fact the Yoruba and Fulani wouldn't and would kick up a storm if forced to do so!

Fact remains that Nigeria is a jungle where it's every man for himself, and if you argue that Ndigbo should be dumb enough to forgo fighting for a int'l gateway in their region of equal status with the ones in Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt, while the other two major ethnic groups are sitting pretty in their own regions with 1st tier int'l gateways, then you are nothing short of wicked! Remember you lot have connived to take away Port Harcourt from us, so you should quit you bad-belle and allow us face what we know to be ours.....ie, AIIA Enugu! The stupid argument of landmass or no landmass is neither here nor there...why should i as an Igbo man go without b'cos the north has useless large landmass?

On the issue of Senator Oduah...you couldn't be further off the mark even if you tried! Ndigbo love that woman for all she did....and tried to do before being prematurely hounded out of office before she could complete the actualisation of the vision she had for airports in the country! In addition to giving us a new int'l terminal at Enugu, it was under her watch that the first int'l flight since the late 60s landed at Enugu! I remember the runway at AIIA was done too during her tenure as aviation minister, but as we've since learnt, the job wasn't done satisfactorily...and i put this down to the kind of people we have running things in the civil and public service. The runways integrity was compromised either through incompetence or blatant corruption of those responsible for monitoring quality of work done. I'm sure if she had continued as minister, the issue of the runway would have been revisited and done properly. A country cannot rise above the mentality and quality of personnel running its affairs; whether in politics, business or the public/civil service!
