I found this online for those crazy about Gcam but not ready to root https://in.c.mi.com/thread-1459901-1-1.html ....I've not tried it yet but from the responses, looks good undecided Anyone adventrous enough to give it a go? grin

Cant spoonfeed people anymore abeg.

I just wondered too ....I've installed it now and it works though yet to notice any difference. On the RN5 camera, it allows me do autofocus/auto exposure sef ...so whats the hue about pix being blurry or what not? You need to adjust focus etc to get good pix. I taya joooor angry

There are some instances that the miui camera beats the gcam...
But the feeling here for some days now is that miui camera is unusable, lol

Which of them did you download? I can see two variants there.

For detailed guide on gcam...just read....straight forward, you dont need root but custom recovery is needed which means unlocked bootloader.

Android 9.0 variant won't work on Android 8.1 ....you can install the apk of June 2018 release

i know that feeling, it happened to me once, the miui camera just surpassed gcam with the same picture n environment settings, after that miui camera na mostly hit or miss, more miss actually. But with gcam i know more than 90% of the time the pictures will be lit

You need cam2api to be enabled before gcam can work....you cant do that with a locked bootloader on xiaomi.... some manufacturers have cam2api enabled by default but not xiaomi.

Rarely do i use my camera.its the least used feature on my phone after mi message.
