I school in the north BTW and I can confidently say that most schools in the west are merely living on past glories. They have nothing extraordinary to offer. And, more often than not, they turn out 'proud products' like you.

. He scored more than the merit requirement,the most painful part of it was that the Dean even told him that even if had scored 100% they will not admit him. The fact that an institution have an history of cultism and violence does not mean that all the students are cultist or violent,students should be given benefit of doubt as long as he meet the school requirements or better still they should make official by putting on their website that they don't want certain schools candidates for their program instead of the scam to extort innocent Nigerians.

It is for the same reason fergie was not signing African Players, many will say for racism but that is not true

The African players fergie signed didn't turn out well so he decided against it, for the benefit of doubt he still tried Mame Diof and Manucho but it was the same result


The school have been proven right over and again by the students from those schools, you may not know but Ede poly is not alone

Come back to modify your when you are thru with GNS classes. Fed. poly Ilaro, Laspotech and poly Ibadan are far better than your sec. school under polytechnic pretence

i fink i have heard of that b4, i fink it's partially due to issues of cultism from some of those schools listed above, most esp. IREE and KWARA POLY...and i heard that some years back a riot occurred @ d sch, after investigation it was revealed most of the perpentrators were from those schools above.

There was a time when the aforementioned polytechnics were notorious for violence and cultism, thus the school stopped taking students from those institutions especially Ire and ESA Oke. If your brother has good guarantors he could be offered admission. I know a few Polytechnic Ibadan students that were offered admission during my HND.

I'm very interested in this issue. Every school has 2 list of schools they admit and don't admit their students. There is the green list(the ones they admit) and the black list(the ones they can never admit). The above listed schools( including LASU) have a poor reputation due to their history of cultism, bribery and poor academic standards and of course are in the black list of schools with high standards. As far as I know, schools like OAU, UI, UNIOSUN, FUTA etc can never admitted products of those schools, except in some rare cases(if you know somebody that knows somebody). Even lecturers discriminate their fellow lecturers that graduated from such schools. If you happen to have a certificate from a blacklisted school, even if you score 200%, they won't consider you for admission just as the deen as said. I feel for your brother but pls find out about a school's reputation before applying because it not only affect admission process but also scholarships and job offer after graduation.

This semi-literate did only Pre-ND at Ede before he was chased out, that is a one year programme for dummies like him whose JAMB score and brain cannot cope with rigorous ND lectures. I did not school at Ede, but I have several friends who are worthy ambassadors of the school unlike the nincompoop that wrote the above gibberish. Imagine a miscreant like this downgrading Lagos Poly and Ibadan Poly, two institutions that have produced great scholars.

Let him use the one year and do some certification programme. God moves in a mysterious way I believe.

While it's in order for you to reprimand the guy you quoted for his infantile comment, what are you going on about schools in the West living on past glories just because you're schooling in the North? I see that as just sour grapes. On what metrics can you ever compare schools in the North with those in the West. The top 10 universities in this country, there's no doubt you'll find like 5 unis in the West on that list, so why are you trying to downplay them. Your overrated ABU in the North that the nepotistic Nigerian system allows to get the lion share of fundings in this country have never justified that. They can't be found on any meaningful ranking system, be it Times Higher, webometric etc. Please be guided in your submissions.

All schools have their internal policy in respect to admission that is never disclosed officially.
I heard unilorin does not admit graduates of kwasu for MSc, yet no one comes out to disclose such to you officially.
Btw, why HND He should go for DE or UTME afresh. I can't advise anyone to go for HND Niko, ND is even better than the HND in our system.

OK. Keep celebrating your mediocre schools. I've met hundreds of graduates from the west and I've always been disappointed. The only functional school there is Convenant university and that too is due to the fact that the students have every necessary infrastructure and support they need. I'm Yoruba myself and was once crazed over those 'past' schools before I realized they were nothing special.
Speaking of rankings, I can't accept a list released by a random foreign body that does not experience a tad about our schools and instead draws its conclusions from whatever junk it finds online.

But in all fairness, If you are in pursuit of good academic system, Federal Polytechnic Ede is a place to be.

And some other institutions in that category were the reasons for substandard polytechnic education in Nigeria.

If I'm the rector of Federal Poly Ede, I won't admit students from those institutions.

This information was brought to my notice as one of my brother who is seeking admission into the HND program 2018/2019 of FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC EDE.

He started the admission processes by doing the online payment of 15k, he sat for the written entrance exam and his exam result was even greater than the department merit requirement.

The admission list for both merit and supplementary candidate was pasted and his name was not among,he summon the courage to go and meet the Dean of student affairs of the school and was told today by the school Dean of student affairs that the school does not admit students fromm the following schools:

Polytechnic of Ibadan,
IREE poly,
Kwara poly,
Lagos state poly and
ESA Oke polytechnic for the past 15 years

...and my brother did his OND program in polytechnic of Ibadan.

My questions now is why don't they make it official as part of their conditions before prospective students apply for their school form,why the underground discrimination, does our concern educational sectors knows about this and lastly why is it that such atrocities given low awareness. This is not fair on us.



May be that just started...I know of someone who was admitted in 2015/2016 session..she aslo did her OND in ibadan polytechnic.She is doing her NYSC now in Kogi state.

If graduates from the Western schools are half-baked as you're alluding to, pray tell what graduates from your Northern unis are. Geniuses I guess? That the standard of tertiary education generally in the country leaves much to be desired is an indisputable fact; you shouldn't make it a Western vs Northern thing.
To your second statement about random foreign bodies ranking our schools, are you implying they're being partial against schools in the North since those in the West are ranked higher? Please educate yourself about the metrics organizations like Times Higher use in ranking schools and how to go about it and not trying to rubbish reputable organizations like that as being random.
