Too much hate speech ongoing...

I don't know how or why the admins of this board don't get worried about what their platform is being used for.

I don't know the commerce of these things but if it's about keeping the traffic, is it more important than the danger that the type of hate speeches that's allowed to go on here can pose to everyone and the society?

I'll never want to own /administer a medium that's used to spread hate from both sides in probably the same way it might have been allowed to fester in Rwanda, early to the mid 90s.

May I disagree with you Sir!

1. What he is about is a political campaign and not a state function. At political campaigns such statements are not out of place as they are simply meant to garner votes from his kith and kin of the SW geopolitical zone. His choice of forum - The Palace Of The Alaafin Of Oyo - could not have been more ideal! The delivery was as incisive as the stroke of a fang! The other day when Donald Trump made “America for Americans” his campaign slogan he knew what he was talking about. He was by no means and all that stands to reason taken to be angling for ethnic or immigrant cleansing! The slogan got the votes!!

2. It is not hate speech either! Hate speech is defined as speech that attacks a person or group on the basis of attributes such as race, religion, ethnic origin, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity. His speech was not an attack against any person or group on the basis of race, religion, ethnic origin, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity but an appeal to the race to which he belongs to do what he thinks is in their best interest. You may disagree with his views but cannot begrudge his choice of thought. He has not said citizen rights are to be made available on the basis of race, religion, ethnic origin, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

3. Strategy demands for you to meet your adversary stake-for-stake! The other day when Atiku was in the SE geopolitical zone to a well arranged and perfectly rendered “you are the SE geopolitical zone hope for a better future” hug of a lifetime by Pa Nwabueze no one screamed blue murder! For me, it was a plus for the Atiku Team as that picture speaks louder than a million voices amplified! It is sure to get the SE geopolitical zone votes for him!!! Osinbajo cannot be denied his turn at appealing to the primordial sentiments of his ethnic SW geopolitical zone. That would be unfair!

4. In any event, I see the Oyo event as an APC kite flown to take the eyes of the PDP off the real deal. PDP, the SE geopolitical zone and Atikulators would appear to have taken the bait as the Oyo event now has their attention as expected. They are red herring quarry!

5. All geopolitical zones must constantly keep in view that all politics is local which is why in politics there are no permanent relationships as local interests are paramount

5. Let the games continue!

This is not something to muzzle and sweep under the carpet anymore. Some people should be made to confront the hate they harbour in their heart for others as a way for us all to move forward otherwise their will be no permanent redemption and harmony for us all. Ask yourself what Yorubas have done wrong when we have always only played politics with maturity because we appreciate it is about permanent interest above everything else.

Which is the ethnic group that pledge alliance to a Party along ethnic lines, i.e PDP, and engage in the wholesale rejection of others also, i.e APC, out of ethnic bigotry? They disgrace Buhari and show disinterest in what he has to say yet want to be the head of his cabinet. They will attack Tinubu always and claim Ngige should not get votes of Anambra folks because he us running under Yerooba Party. Pandering to ethbic politics that is the common unifocation of their hate. Others have tolerat3d this from the Igbos for far too long.

Everyone else, be it the North or SW, don't ethnicise political platforms and merely see them as a means to an end. I am Yoruba and view it a good thing the PDP is out of the SW because the Party is a congregation of the worst Yoruba political leaders in the SW and not because I see APC as a Yoruba Party.

Yorubas are no longer entertaining self-righteous lectures from others and we won't play 'bigger man rising above the misdeed' of others anymore as we did previously . Igbo and their hate have finally tipped Yorubas over the edge in the modern era and made them radical. This is why Yorubas who are some of the most sophisticated and most well-read Nigeria has produced are now openly totuting Yoruba interest. We no send anyone least of all the Igbos.

Group cautions Osinbajo, Ajimobi against instigating Yoruba-Igbo feud

A pan-Igbo socio-political pressure group, the South East Revival Group, SERG, has urged Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State to exercise restraint in their utterances as the country goes into general elections next year to avoid pitching their Yoruba ethnic group against the Igbo.

The national co-ordinator of SERG, Chief Willy Ezugwu in a statement issued in Abuja, yesterday, recalled that “while speaking at the Alaafin’s palace, the Vice President had urged the Yoruba to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari to pave way for Yoruba presidency in 2023, but Governor Ajimobi took the narrative higher by declaring that the 2019 election was between the Hausa and Yoruba alliance on one hand and the Hausa and Igbo on the other.

“We condemn in strongest terms possible, this brand of ethnic politics and this unprovoked and unjustified attacks on Igbos by the two Yoruba leaders. Such utterances can spark ethnic cleansing or inter-tribal crisis.

“Nigerian leaders must live by example and avoid hate speech ahead of 2019 general elections. This is important because we must have a country first before we can think of who rules over its affairs.
“Nigeria is bigger than our regional ethnic sentiments. We should rather focus on issues of justice and peaceful coexistence to save the country from disintegration.”

Nairaland has published a disclaimer which puts commentators on notice they will be held accountable for their posts. That should be sufficient in the circumstances. In any event, this Forum gives the whole wide world a view of the innards of the commentators. I think the time is ripe for these never work marriage called Nigeria to collapse. Just take a look at the kind of insults useless and lazy youths who don't even know anything about Nigeria history are hauling at each others tribe. Yoruba miscreants are boasting of their superior army against the lbos. The question is this, is their army tested and proven, had Yoruba race fought a war against the world just as the Igbos did for 3years. Have they witness bombing before? Only the sound bomb explosion will send 2million Yoruba's into their early grave. Meanwhile Nairaland owner should start a serious campaign against hate speech in this very forum by removing the comment thread. So when u read you leave no thrash in the name of comments, because if care is not taken ethnic crisis may be instigated from this platform.

Ibo is not good at cerebral exercise assembling a logical, chronological chain-link of cause-effect events. At best they might have a good start but midway the mind strays and the thoughts shifts away from its intellectual engagement. Their mind behaves in similitude to their physique, quick twitches of brain muscle incapable of holding a thought or intellectual activity for a long concentration. The intellect has a very short endurance before it drops its cell electrons. Their physique is the same way. It lacks endurance for prolonged physical pressure before it yields. This is why they are good in contact sports or those events in which a quick jerk of the muscle is required. Any game of sports that require concentration and calculation to outmaneuver the opponent is not good for them, they fail in it. In physiology this deficiency is called ADD - Attention Deficit Disorder.

In discussion an Ibo will soon default to an emotional outburst, and unable to get his points across, he will all of a sudden resign to fate and conclude that he is being picked on, hated, stereotyped, envied, marginalized, singled out.

The genetic deficiency of ADD is truly at the root of his problem.

I can write a book on this topic of ADD and other deficiencies Ibo suffer from and its negative impact on their general mental and health balance.

It cannot be separated from their political output.

For this reason I will be an advocate of treating the Ibo demand for political inclusion the same way we would treat the demand of disabled persons for improvements in accessibility to public facilities. For indeed Ibo should be acknowdleged as a political handicap.

Just my thought!

I agree. These utterances can further fuel resentment among the ethnic nationalities. At the same time, the Igbo seem not to be smart politically. Always missing it. Why can't Igbo divide themselves into two camps... One supporting buhari strongly with 2023 in view?
They shouldn't expect SW to do all the work for buhari and then hand 2023 presidency to Igbo just like that.
