what - I am surprised Apapa is that small - Mombasa this year handled 31-33M metric tonnes and 1.2 TEUS. Very cooked GDP.

Seriously, if we take Nairobi out of Kenya, what does the rest of the country become??

How evenly spread is the development in Kenya?
I'm not talking about just roads and electricity oo..But industrialization too....

If we take Lagos away from Nigeria, we still have Abuja that's the political capital ..We still have Ogun state that's has nearly more industries than Lagos... We still have cities like Ibadan,Aba,Onitsha,Kano,Enugu and Owerri with a lot of industries too...
We have calabar thats the tourist capital...
Further down south, there's Uyo,Port Harcourt, Asaba,Warri, and Benin city... Heck! even Kaduna and Jos can boast of one or two industries..

I'll be really glad if the Kenyans can list other cities (or towns or whatever) in their country that has a strong economic influence apart from Nairobi...

Which industries are those you're talking about? What is the industrial output of Nigeria? Stop being hilarious.

If Ibadan, Onitsha et al are what you post of the Lord have mercy. A city is not just size and population. Without Nairobi, Kenya has Mombasa, Kisumu, Nauru, Eldoret, Thika, Kisii, Kakamega, Nyeri, Machakos et al.

i like how u think every country on earth runs like urs. U're a country that builds one big airport (JKIA) and seaport (mombasa port) and divert all traffics to d two institutions leaving the remaining ones in shamble.

Nigeria on d other hand has more than 5 ports handling different tonnage capacity. Even lagos has 2 ports, apapa port is the only one u're viewing.

Check ur second busiest airport and seaport, check their capacity and what they handles, check naija's second busiest airport and seaport, see their differences.

Ur second busiest airport handles less than 500k passengers per annum, nonsense. I dont even think u have any other major seaport.

The 500B GDP giant gorilla highest ever was 1.6M TEUS in 2014 - and they are now doing anything 1.3-1.5M. In gross tonnage - they are doing I think around 60M tonnes from all their ports - Apapa, Tin can, Port Harcourt.

“The record year for containers in Nigeria was 2014, with throughput of 1.6 million TEUs. That has been the highest so far in the history of this country".

Like I alluded their economy is about 2.5 times kenya with about 1/3 of it oil-based. At best theirs is 200B economy.

South Africa with 320B economy - in Durban alone - process 2.5M TEUS.

All your ports are struggling to hit 1.6M TEUS - now at around 1.5M TEUS.

Happy New Year loser grin

Why do you always think you're dealing with halfwits? Lagos before 1960 was more built up and developed than Nairobi of 1963. Check stock photos liar! Your economy was more than 5 times Kenya's. Do you think the British were colonizing you solely to civilize you? They were doing serious economic activity. They had even built bridges like the CMS bridge in the third photo and your roads were good. The only thing they never did is settle outside Lagos like they did in Kenyan White highlands (because naija weather is only good for your black skins). You're not going to lie here to save your ass. You have failed woefully since the British left you.

Nice pose by the horned naija wizard in last photo grin

Chaanga new year to you too my friend grin. The truth hurts, you paid the whites to leave you alone with the best infrastructure in east Africa , now you are claiming to have received nothing? cheesy. Stop your lies you stupid fool. The British left you with more than what they gave west African colonies .

Mombasa capacity about 1.6M TEUS. When current expansion is completed - it will be around 2.2M in 2023 - around 2.65million TEUs - that is where likes of Durban are.
Mombasa now handles 1.2M TEUS annually -and more than 30M metric tonnes.
Lagos port complex alone has a capacity of 3.9m teu. Fact.

Link. Lagos port complex (Apapa & Tin Can) combined capacity is mere 1.5M. Mombasa officially has more capacity than that. And you're struggling to process 1M TEUS annually - and let not talk about how inefficient the whole port is - it takes nearly 3 weeks to get your container out of that confusion.

Why do you try lying in the information age?
The two seaports in Lagos – the Lagos Port Complex Apapa and the Tin Can Island Port Complex – have been jointly listed among the top 500 container ports in the world. The ports, according to a survey released by the World Top Container Ports, have a combined capacity of 1.5 million TEU.
