Everton in major fight to keep £20m star who has never played for club
Date published: Monday 11th March 2019 10:17
Everton are ready to hand Henry Onyekuru his Premier League debut next season, but the Nigerian will need to be convinced to make the move.
The 21-year-old was signed by the
Toffees 18-months ago from Belgian side Eupen – but he has never played for the club due to work-permit issues
But now Onyekuru would likely land a permit, as he is a regular for Nigeria and is one of the top-scorers in Turkey.
Galatasaray would like to keep the player – but there is a major interest from elsewhere, including Paris Saint Germain.
The French giants have been long-term admirers and they are ready to offer Everton a £20million deal, but they are not the only interested party as we understand fellow French sides Monaco and Marseille are also keen, along with Borussia Dortmund, Napoli and Sevilla.
Everton will be left with the decision to make, as their scouts have been issuing glowing reports on his progress back to Marco Silva and his staff.

Onyekuru should just avoid PSG. That club changes players like shirts. They are like spoilt kids in a supermarket buying any shining toy they see.

The competition for a place in the squad of PSG is too tough.

Sir, I beg to differ, Manu Garba's calling is U17 football. At the U20 World Cup, in our first match against Brazil, we were playing the same formation with the Brazilians. No holding midfielder, transition from defence to attack with over 3 goals in the first half (I think). The Brazilian coach brought in a holding midfielder (bocelli or so by name) in the first half. The game changed. Many Garba had no answer, he was moping. Except he has improved himself since then. In my opinion let him stick with U17.

Nice addition.

The solution was not putting a holt to the process but beefing up the tactical acumen of the Manu Garba. Also doing same for his backroom staff.

Instead of building on the process, we slid backwards.

don't forget that garba Coach the u20(ihinacho,saviour,success etc) team to world cup that we lose to German

I talked about small gains and big gains. With a long term strategy, we will gain big but looking at crashing out early from tournaments will only hold us back.

I think Monaco and Dortmund will be good choices as this are clubs that have history of developing young players

Wonderful ability is not a guarantee of quality playing time at PSG. There was a time Di Maria did not have a healthy run of games. Munier is one of my best right backs in the World. He too has also been on the bench for a large amount of games.

My best creative midfielder in the game of football today, Javier Pastore had a bad spell of not playing games at PSG.

So it is not about quality but competition.

I say Dortmund because they did a fantastic job with Aubameyang, Dembele and now Sancho. With Sancho most likely leaving the club soon, Onyekuru will stand a good chance to develop there. The club also has a refreshing history of playing attacking football which will favor his goal scoring attribute.

ON POINT...i believe that Manu Garba and Nduka Ugbade should be our PERRENIAL u17 coaches...they have too successful there.. LET THEM KEEP THE PRODUCTION LINE WORKING..A perfect exampl of this style is Jose Pekerman...he won three u20 world cup for Argentina...they left him to be in charge of PRODUCTION..And he did not disappoint....Watch out his players Riquelme, Cambiasso,Burdisso,Gago,Banega,Di Maria,Aguero,Mascharano,Pablo Aimar, etc

Nice one but Pekerman was also insanely brilliant with the way he developed the Columbian senior side. Remember how brilliant they were in the Brazil 2012 World Cup.

Not progressing the U17 coach deters the cycle of progress. It must not always be Manu Garba. Amunike did an amazing job with the likes of Osimhen, Chukwueze, Nwakali (still have not giving up on him), Okoronkwo and others.

I would have liked to see what Finidi had to offer, then promote him to the U20 and continue a cycle. Instead, we deterred most of the work we did with Manu Garba the last time.

@ the bolded, that depends on the player's background.

If you are from a Nigerian background then you should be worried.

You need to do a research on why players like Isaac Success chose to party away their abiliies. Or why a player like Iheanacho has refused to work on his bad first touch which he has not gotten right since he came to limelight in 2013.

It gets into their heads.

The back ground matters. Our press should focus more on constructive critique of our players rather than empty hypes.

That's all down to player management.

You think foreign players don't have issues too. Look at Marco Verratti, Neymar, Rooney, Balotelli, Aubemeyang, Dembele, Bellerin etc Hell look at Diego Maradona.

Managing football players who actually have the talent properly, ensures they keep performing at an appreciable level. Hype or Not.

He should return to Everton if he can get work permit I prefer that to psg

That same guy that have been insulting him for being in the Turkish league will not hesitate to insult him if seen in psg bench which is likely to happen

I see nobody benching mbappe and Neymar at psg ,so what are onyekuru hopes there? Even draxler is a bench warmer there .

EPL maybe too physical for him like it affected Musa

I don't normally use media posts to anchor my opinion in its entirety.

We are largely anonymous here which is great.

However, what you don't know is how well, l may or may not know, the coaches at Liverpool and thier off the record comments to me. Or what Alex or Critchy may have said about him.

Solanke remains somewhat of an enigma to me. A good player who hasn't proved anything or done anything beyond showing potential. But was somehow sold for near £20 million to AFC Bournemouth that's completely baffling to me.

He was sold 20 million because he was English
