Good for finding stuff local.

I prefer it to eBay.

Buying from real people meeting them and stuff not from an account

Typical council tax in England will rise by 4.7% in April

Typical council tax bills in England will rise by 4.7% in April - the second biggest increase in a decade, official figures show.

The levy on an average Band D property will go up by £78 to £1,750, the government said, in part owing to the cost of policing and adult social care.

Thanks Lexus430.
But imagine a car sold by Davechapelle for £600 being advertised on Autotrader for £2000
Makes me think those eBay, Gumtree, preloved websites etc may have overpriced cars.

Please, any Nairalander who wishes to sell at sub-1000 just like Davechapelle did should hit me up.

You have to be systematic in your search. Don't buy from a dealer, buy directly from the owner/associates...... Dealers would prepare the car, fix any fixables and some would even offer warranty + capital tie down interest (all this comes at a price).....

Lots of bereaved kids selling dads/mums car, at giveaway prices......

In my banger buying days, buying a cheap car was like a degree course...........

I was desperate for cash. Eventhough there was nothing wrong with the car. Other than higher insurance, a little boredom, a bit juice greedy. Webuyanynonsense offered me £200. I really wasn't logical selling for 600, but in reality, i couldn't brush up the car like the dealers did, and didn't want to incur a new annual insurance bill. But great car, if i was in Nigeria, would have given it to somebody

whaooo, this is really beautiful. see as the car be like Aeroplane, chai.

Welldone Buddy, you've done well for yourself, happy cruising...

DaveChapelle:
i'm sure you'd have thought the car had a problem.

Yeah but i think those are only better if you are going on low budget.

Personally, buying a priced car from individuals on those sites is risky. You've got to really know what you are doing to take that risk..

Banger Tips........

- You must have time to view and test drive
- Be prepared to pay for vehicle data checking
- Have enough time to search through all known classifieds
- Narrow your vehicle search to particular brands/models
- Read vehicle reviews online
- Be familiar with documented faults
- Check through previous MOT history, check through failures, mileage etc etc
- Check for cost of road fund licence
- Check cost of insurance
- Service history is a good feature
- Number of previous owners is a good indicator
- Have a present value indicator, for different types (dealer, part exchange, used good, used bad etc etc)
- Never rush to buy the 1st car, another better car is always around the corner
-Never believe what the seller says, do your own checks and tests
- Know your pocket size
- Test all knobs, switches and everything (if something us not working and you like the car...... Bargain time
- Properly test the AC
- Test drives very important, don't let seller dictate the pace (be reasonable
- Take along with you, an OBD11 scan tool (for some brands, different scan tool is required)
- Check that tyre thread is within the legal limit, on all 4 corners
- When you finally buy a car, NEVER drive it home without road fund licence and insurance.............. All this can be organised in 20 minutes........

When I remember more, would add......

if u like it so much, there are many IS 200s on autotrader...the A/c in mine wasn't working anyway...blown fuse or so....there are some for less than 1k, but i must say, if u r the 1st time UK driver....the insurance is pricy....and it has a high fuel consumption. I would advice you look for a good VW golf 1.6 litre. that's the other car i might have gone for, they are fun to drive, i hear Seat Leon is also a spanish golf of sorts
