Hello. Happy Monday and I hope everyone is well. It’s a new week and brand new day again. First day of the week and a hustling day. I realized a lot of people are struggling to make end meet. There are people here who are tired and really needs things to happen quickly in their life. This is one great mistake that will emerge from the Table of Governor to be. Dont take the non graduate as nuisance or irresponsible fellow, thinking of employing graduates as drivers instead of checking for those with much knowledge,experience and skill is going to be a great mistake. The non graduates in Nigerian should not be sidelined it will surely increase criminality, kidnapping and all sorts of crime you can think of in Nigeria. Any certified Driver who has attended a driving school should be considered instead of you demanding for graduate. I want you to know that some are not graduate today just because they dont have any helper to finance their education. Politcians should balance our economy not just thinking about a particular a group of people. Mr Sanwo olu should be advised pls.

I think this is a good step.....graduates can make money and with that start up things that would make them leave the job.....to all those shouting it is not dignifying, if Dangote calls u as a graduate to come and drive him around won't you?.....even in western countries a lot of graduates do menial jobs while working on applications to better paying ones.

The average contract staff in a bank earns 60k and that 60k comes with back breaking work

Sanwo-Olu doesn't have sense...that's why it's always good to allow candidate to show interest in any position independently and not being handpicked by a godfather. You don't have any plan for graduates that spent years in higher institution except employ them as BRT drivers? Which developing country that wants rapid growth and development would contemplate doing such thing with her graduates? Smh

I don't get what is wrong with Nairaladers. However I'm sure the ranting is done by mostly the eastern slaves living in Lagos.

I hope you guys know the kind of business and career when govt get fully involved in transportation business. In US and Canada, graduates mostly man the buses, its a career, pensionable.
You can imagine for once what it takes for rouges and thugs having multiple houses all over Lagos with state of the earth cars without paying any tax all in the name of NURTW.
Government all over from Federal, State and LGs should fashion out an enabling law, environments and infrastructural ways to launch fully into transportation business, well regulated. Its a money spinner and could absorb millions of jobless graduates in offices, and back up services apart from driving.

Let's not be fast to castigate. Several chauffeurs are graduate.

I believe he is referring to those new buses. Graduates will do a better job driving and managing them for years, which would save the government some money. Moreover, those new buses shouldn't be left in the hands of those old BRT drivers. Some of them are so reckless.

Finally, if he would pay N100k as promised, it is a good deal for a graduate rather than roaming the street in search of a job.

This is an optional effort to improve and deliver better performance and service, they are not forcing your to drive BRT with your degree, the cooperate and allied fields are still there for you and other graduates. It's a free world, some graduates won't mind either because they love the job or the money, it's their choice to make, not yours.

It's not by force to criticize.

shut up ..what do u know? Even here in the US where i live , graduate work as driver and security, only in nigeria graduate want oil job and that is why there is unemployment in the country today

Even in the US they now flip burgers with degrees so better humble yourself and take what is on offer. If you are as good as the degree in hand you will naturally rise beyond bus driving but if you are one of the millions of degree holders not even worth school cert then you might not last even on this driving gig.

back in those days, graduates got good jobs, now things don’t work out like that. The economy has almost collapsed, so the idea of making them drivers for 100k tells us two things:
1. They become civil servants just like you.
2. They get paid more than the average civil servant.

However, better still, they have a job and that’s what matters. The role they play, and how dignified the job is, will depend on how they perform their duties.

I am sure it’s not a bad move at all, you need to support it. I know many grads who earn 15k. Govt cannot ignore that.

Typical graduates in America have worked menial jobs full time while going to school and pay their own bills and piled on student loans that they must pay back.


....but in Nigeria, they all want to relax in air-conditioned office because they are graduates, many of them are over pampered and they have flawed sense of expectation and entitlement.
