See how clean and civilized it looks now, let’s keep it that way, I hope the government would be proactive enough to take this one step further by deploying sanitation enforcement officers to be on that site 24/7, those tanker drivers have very dirty (unprintable) habits.

why not make all the country's port functional

This is just fighting the wind my broda. That is the solution but the FG want total control so we all suffer until Lagos collapses.

Well Lekki Deep Sea port is on its way to give Apapa Port a big relief

This is the best time to invest around the Lekki Deep Sea port and build ware houses to make money from importers. Incase you don't know Lekki Deep Sea port will service the free Trade Zone, Dangote Refinery and other International Landmarks situated at Ibeju-Lekki
.

Call the number in my signature for free Site Inspection. Our Lands are affordable and 100 percent free from Government Acquisition.

Lekki deep sea port will turn Lekki into a nightmare. Why Lago? Two ports and we have the longest coast line in west Africa. A complete waste of natural resources. I predict Lekki will be unattractive.

The solution still remains reactivation of those ports and incentives to get them working.

Easy for us to suggest ...do u know how marine industry is ? Do you know the state of debt Nigeria is in? Do you know the projects that have been abandoned for years ,do you know that a lot of what Nigerians keep shouting about have actually been paid for in other administrations and not done so to chase those contractor no be joke?
Do you know the state Nigeria as a whole i s in? Hmm
Stop making noise. If a cargo is not meant for Lagos it could be directed to a seaport closer to it. It can easily be done. The south south and Niger Delta ports are being sidelined because the plan is to cripple the Ibos. Full stop. By the way, I am not ibo.

why build ports and allow only one to function, isn't that waste of scarce fund Mr maritime?

In your ignorant mind only Lagos port is functioning when the while world know and applaud Onne port but I know you are not happy because of one irrelevant river port you wish to have in your enclave..... Useless lot. Always spewing trash so as to seem to be saying something.

I see someone saying “this is what they should’ve done”.

Nonsense. So government just woke up yesterday and said let’s put this park here to clear the gridlock and Gbam! We have this.

Is it not obvious that the government had been doing something about it for a long time co projects like this would’ve taken nothing less than 3years from initiation and design to this level.

Just like you didn’t know about this park same way you dont know about the one in east that is being delayed by the second Niger bridge.

That park is not too small when you factor in the kaduna dry port that is already functional and Ibadan dry port that is coming on board. Also the one in the east that is being delayed by the second Niger bridge plus the Warri port(which I read something positive about sometime ago)

You get time sha don't you know these children of hate just wake up and start spewing trash? Your first response to the idiot saying this is what they should have done is a pointer to show you they don't reason before talking and their ignorant comrades in stupidity will trumpet it foolishly.
I knew they will storm this thread to complain because they want some irrelevant river port in onitsha, it's only them that think government should abandon Apapa wharf for a river port.

I answered your question with a single line that “just like you didn’t know about this, there are other things going on that you didn’t know about”.

You, like most Nigerians don’t know much about the ports stories so it’s understandable.

I also don’t know much but because I once worked with a company that provided port security at our ports, I know some ports in the SS are functioning eg onne port, Warri port. It may not be to capacity due to some reasons but they are. The one in the east is not functioning because of the shallow waters that link the port to the Atlantic. The past federal governments has been making plans to dredge the river for a long time without doing anything but this particular government seem serious about it. The only thing delaying it is the construction going on the second Niger bridge.

you obviously don't know that decongesting Lagos port will increase traffic flow

Is this the only state that has sea port, why is the government of Nigeria, keeping other states like Port Harcourt sea, Calabar Sea, Warri sea untouched, Do we say, this government is trying, what is good for Lagos is also good for other states.

They should do well to create opportunities in other states, then just wholly developing Lagos, leaving others to decay.
Baba God is watching One Nigeria.
