this question was put to me once, my answer was, why do you think F1 drivers use manual transmission. with manual transmission you have full control of the car power. with auto transmission, it needs to feel that it has reached limit before upward shift or downward shift.

It's easy to know you haven't driven a manual car before. Manual is not that difficult as you make it. In towns where you don't have traffic like Lagos, e.g Ilorin, Abeokuta, Akure, there is almost no difference in the ease of driving an automatic or manual.

Automatics are cool but manual is better, at least for drag racing, I use to tell my friends, if you're in an automatic vehicle and I in the manual of the same kind of vehicle, I'd always win the drag race. Manual can be a punishment in traffic but when you want to go from 0-60 in the fastest time, manual is the best (it depends on the driver), many of the fastest cars in the world use manual (paddleshift) transmissiontransmission too.

Well, car manufacturers want everybody to buy their cars. Both Men and Women. Since the women are less technical with manual and gears and clutch, the manufacturers kuku made everything Automatic transmission.
Since people need more space to carry load/stuff, they shifted the transmission to the front.
My Dad's Peugeot 504 was Rear wheel drive. The axel in the back made the boot so small.
Today, my car and most others are front wheel drive. No axel in the back. The boot space is much larger than 504.

apart from the clutch , cable and down kit there's nothing else to fix in the manual tranny no useless TCU to contend with, 6yrs rolling havent touched my tranny.

They are not aware that even expensive fast cars like Ferrari, Buggati, aston martin comes with mostly manual transmission. Imagine leaving your foot on the accelerator pedal of an automatic Lamborghini for just 7 seconds, it just has to be manual as some of those cars can go 0-100 in less than 5 seconds. It just has to be manual so you change the gear yourself if you wanna fly.

You are correct but do not move backward when others are moving forward. we may be stagnant but eventually the technology will get to us and will will make use of it.

I have 3 cars and the are all manual transmission.

Automatic my foot. Until you get issues with your gear system, you hate automatic transmission

A friend of mine got a Toyota sienna tokunbo and he has changed the automatic gearbox within 6 months of steady cruising. Some manual cars don't develop gear issues in 20 years sef, my dad still has a 1994 honda concerto manual parked in his compound and nobody has touched the gearbox in 20 years! Transmission still smooth. I drive auto and manual but I just like manual -- full control.

I have been driving my manual for 5 years now and I haven't serviced my clutch for one day. Manual is as easy as automatic. I guess people clamoring for automatic have never driven a manual car before. Try using a manual for long distance, u will feel so happy with the way to control your gear system. Many European countries have many manual cars

All the luxury cars you mentioned use automatic and F1 racing cars drivers simply flick a paddle behind the steering wheel to change sequentially up or down. Formula 1 cars use highly sophisticated semi-automatic or seamless shift gearboxes. The era of automatic vehicle being slow and uninteresting passed ages ago plus they are becoming more fuel efficient.
