While I was in yabatech, there's a particular lecturer at the engineering department I think Mr loco or so...

His benz car was a 3 unit course because we must push his car everyday because of his useless battery..

Point of correction. Manual isn’t out-of-date. There are many modern automobiles that still use manual gear technology.

The only reason why a lot of people here condemn manual is because they don't know how to drive it or they didn't have their first experience with a good car.
I swear if you drive my Accord 2012 manual. You won't want to drive automatic again. Sometimes, I even forget it's manual cuz it just makes it so easy for me. And there is auto clutch which means I can rest my leg sometimes.
Please go and sit down if you are not a manual car owner, you are only driving a toy.

This is exactly what I was talking about in the post above.
My 2012 manual is so easy to drive that I can even sleep on wheel. And auto clutch means it even super cool... If I race past automatic cars... You will think it's asphalt game car.

It's a button on the side of your steering that helps relieve your clutch, thereby allowing you to shift your gears without pressing clutch. It generally renders the clutch automatic. Ask around, a lot of modern manual cars have it. Google it too

Automatic-How does it work?



It's a gearbox that can switch gears automatically. 

Main parts:

oil pump - pumps oil to valves

hydraulic valves - switch oil supply on and off to different clutches.

clutches - these engage and disengage therefore they select which gear will be active. 

gearwheels - lots of these in different configurations - this is why gears have different ratios.

torque converter - this is why switching gears is smooth - it is like a clutch that always slips (but does not wear off because it slips on oil). 

And lots of sensors for computing

Very old vehicles have 3-4 gears. 10-20 years old vehicles have at least 5 gears but newest have 7-8 There are some gearboxes that have even more but the advantages are not noticeable and gearbox is more complicated and expensive.

Repair and maintenance is very expensive

That means you don't understand Automatic, check the gear system, you will see D1, 2, 3, they are like gear 1, 2 in manual. Apply D1, it will give you the same Power as gear 1.

Oga what are you trying to say now? Oya explain it to us from your own perspective let's reason things from your own angle. The numbers 3,2, 1 in an automatic transmission are low range gears, same as your manual transmission to help you out of certain situations. They aren't there for play sake.

In Egypt, there are generations that know nothing about automatic transmission! Including grandparents! They are scared of driving these cars that move once you gear D, without control!

You can't get a drivers licence like that here in Europe. You take the test on a stick shift.

If you can’t drive a stick shift then you need to re-evaluate your life...........
