I don't quite understand what people enjoy in horror movies. Why terrify yourself when you can watch sweet comedies like Game Night?
At the bolded, so do i. But i think it's the thrills in it that makes people enjoy movies like that. I say so because at a time, that was my major motivation for seeing horror flicks(demonic possession & exorcism related flicks). But after my horror Marathon & it's effects on my subconscious for weeks, i vowed to steer clear of the aforementioned. Most people here laughed at me, calling me chicken hearted fellow, but the fact most people here don't know is that, as long as it's a horror Marathon, you must have nightmares, sure they might not be scared while seeing it, but immediate one shut their eyes to sleep, they are solely at the mercy of their subconscious, & trust me, once one has seen that much horror, that guy(subconscious) loves to be very creative, & trust me, he's sure gonna give you a show of a lifetime.

Then why not pace your stream of horror movies? Stop binge watching or marathon watching, as you say?

Sure, that's what i do nowadays, but it's mostly for horror movies that has to do with Zombies, vampires, Werewolves & some mythical creatures, as for demonic possession & exorcism, it's a no go area for me, my mind is just too fragile for the later, i sure know what i went through, before i got over the nightmares i got from seeing The Autopsy of Jane Doe.

Funny enough, I too have stopped demon possession movies. I feel they are too similar and repetitive. But gawd, they are scary.

So, I can understand how you feel.

Did you know that some people vomited after watching the exorcist?

There is a reason why we are scared of demon possession movies more tha anybother type of horror.

1. Just like zombie movies, it is closer to reality. We all know a mad person that behaves as if possessed. For zombies, an Ebola like disease could cause such morbid body horror. Compare this reality to werewolves and vampires who ate just not real enough.

2. It is a hopeless situation. Once possessed, even priests or shamans might not be able to save you. The priest and your family might even die in the process of exorcism. A slasher serial killer can be stopped with a gun. A werewolf with a silver bullet. A vampire with the sun.
Even if you get cured of the possession, you will still have mental scars that will affect you for life.

3. Religious indoctrination. Many Christians and muslims have been made to fear hell and its occupants. A very primal fear of devilish things. Seeing such coming to life on a screen will torment anyone with religious upbringing.

Glad you enjoyed 'em. Well the target audience for Polar express was more of kids, but nevertheless, it was a good watch though. If you want a more enjoyable matured themed animated flicks, then do see the likes of Rango, Beowulf, 9,Ratatouille etc.
Avatar the last Air bender, is on f z TV series dot net. I saw it all,its truly worth the time & mb. It's the one of korra i haven't seen.
For the search, just Google Avatar the last Air bender & f z TV series together, hit the search button & you'll get the page to the whole series.
I've seen Ratatouille, Rango and 9, but I'll rewatch 9 and Beowulf.
.
Thanks for the suggestion on Avatar

Wow, i just started watching The legend of Korra last week and about to finish season 4. Planning to rewatch Avatar too.
Search site to download anime on Google
Korra was too annoying for my liking, the girl no dey hear word and people that don't hear word annoy me. That's why I don't watch movies of teenagers. In season 2 of Korra, she obeyed and followed her uncle instead of listening to her father. The best season of Korra is season 3, now that was a dope season. Especially when Bolin learnt Lava bending

Seeing horror movies back to back. Thumbs up.
Next time, try following up a horror flick with an Adam Sandler film cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy
For instance I plan to see "It" and "Game Night" back to back.
Just an advice though!

I saw a video on youtube that some priest were brought to the cinema to bless the crowd (before they left the cinema) after watching the horror movie, it was the premier of the movie, and guess what the movie was all about? exorcism and demon possession.

I wouldn't consider IT as horror, if you want a good clown related horror flick, see Stitch it wasn't great, but IMO, it was better than IT . The day i saw the ring 2 for the very first time that was before my marathon stunt, i saw it around 8pm all alone in my dark apartment, it took me 2hours to finish it & when i did, i had to see almost a whole season of The Big Bang Theory so as to cushion the effect. But on that faithful day, which i carried out my horror marathon stunt, no amount of sitcom could cushion the effect it had on me, on a light note, i didn't sleep in my apartment that day, had to pass the night at a friends' & for the many weeks that crept by, i was constantly plagued with nightmares.

The shining

6/10

So I was reading the book, I was at the last chapters when I came to the thread and happened upon the horror movies discussion which piqued my interest in seeing a horror flick; being aware that the book had an adaptation I decided to see it. I read some positive reviews about the movie and even discovered it was dubbed one of the best horror movies but boy I was in for some disappointment. The movie does not come close to the book and the book wasn't all that great but it was miles better than the movie.
I found the movie to be decent and a let down at the same time, the only part I really enjoyed (SPOILERS AHEAD) was when the kid lured the monster into the hedge maze, ran to a certain distance, retraced his steps and got rid of his tracks to where he hid thereby getting rid of the monster by trapping it in the maze.

They should have stayed faithful to the book.

I am not surprised. Back in the day, I couldn't sleep when I watched the exorcist. I watched it when I was still a boy. That face haunted me

The movie is great. You have to account for the fact that it was made far back when horror movies where far and few in between.

Books usually come out better than the movies

There are some comic characters that shouldn't be adapted to live action.
Swamp thing is one of them.

Rating: 7/10
Unique take: mixing the buddy cop genre with fantasy elements.
Though so many supporting characters were wasted.
Waiting for the sequel.

You must be kidneying me. The Shining wasn't all that great ke?! That book is one of Stephen King's best books.

Take the words of a super fan who has read almost all his books, and when I say it is one of his best, it means there are others he wrote which weren't all that great. But the Shining? That is one of his unmatchable masterpieces.

Why on earth will you binge on horror movies?? Your subconscious will definitely regurgitate what you have stuffed with. In my case, I rarely have bad dreams when I watch horror films, but there are a few exceptions. Annabelle was worse than Hereditary, scared me more but did not cause me nightmares. Hereditary did. That film is just plain nasty.
