There is a difference between injured and match fit

“For me, it was a decision I had to take because when the opportunity came up to either go to Rio or play for Chelsea.

“I decided that Victor Moses, who was the younger and hasn’t played yet for the club, should stay back while I go to the Olympics.

“Victor stayed back and I went but when I got back the manager never spoke to me again and did not even put me in the team, so I had to leave the club. For me, my commitment to play for the national team will never change till I stop playing,”

The fact is his still our best striker and highest goal scorer for the AFCON qualifiers

Unless you want to dispute that

The best striker part is possibly untrue mainly because other players have not had the opportunity to show their worth.

However you mentioned that he is capable and experienced which I countered, that doesn't change the fact that he was our highest goalscorer in the qualifiers albeit with 5(?) goals against Libya, L-I-B-Y-A

I never said he was match fit, I said he's no longer injured

He may even regain match fitness before the first match, that will be decision of the coach and medical crew

Ighalo should have been declared fit before his name being put on the list. Instead, his name was put after.

No need. You have explained further that Ighalo might be ready for the AFCON. Does not change the point in any way. He is an unfit striker making the list. Rohr goofed there.

You are switching points. The Uruguayan team in 2010 was an offensive side. No way you can tag that team that had Suarez, Cavani and Forlan in attack as a negative side.

Oscar Tabarez sets up his sides to be solid at the back and depends mostly on the pace and brilliance of his attackers. That's the way he sets up his team

The problem is I’m doubting that quote. Which is why I’m asking if other matches have been played in Abuja be it clubsides or not. I will like to read a quote credited to Rohr as regards Abuja stadium, as he has been vocal about playing in other pitches against the NFF’s wish in the past.
forgiveness:

If Abuja was better than Port Harcourt why play in Port Harcourt?

Meaning we are going to the AFCON with an unfit striker in Odion Ighalo.

This is totally not acceptable. Simon was dropped from the WC squad because of injury now it is Ighalo's turn and nobody is saying anything.

Not as if he is a Mohammed Salah or Sadio Mane.

Call me an Ighalo hater if you like but I will always say what is right or wrong. Rohr has just lost my respect with this one. Period!

Not only ighalo was smuggled , Uzoho too...
Simeon case was more of conspiracy...

Every coach has his own boys.

Who told you ighalo is injured? if so are you really sure about this and what your source?

Super Eagles forward, Odion Ighalo has resumed full training with the squad as the team continues preparations in Ismailia for the Africa Cup of Nations, AOIfootball.com reports.

The Shanghai Shenhua star forward has been out after sustaining a minor injury in Shenhua’s 1-1 draw against Tianjin Teda in a Chinese Super League encounter and missed the Super Eagles warm-up friendly against Zimbabwe last weekend in Asaba.

The forward had some training sessions with the team in Asaba but was not dressed for the warm-up clash against the Warriors which clearly indicated the coach was still allowing proper recovery. Ighalo had said he would not rush the recovery process in order to forestall a relapse.

The 29-year-old however completed full morning training routines with the whole squad for the first time in the camp at Ismailia after working with his personal physiotherapist and also undergoing some rehabilitation exercises towards recovery.

Ighalo’s return will come as a boost to the team as they vie for honours at the Nations Cup in Egypt.

Is the super eagles camp now a top secret organization? No news, pictures or training videos. Are they trying to portray a level of top notch preparation or what? @ tbaba1234 & charlesemeka85

Oga, the guys have learned from their WC misadventure. Soccer is played on the pitch and not on social media. No need for unnecessary social media gallivanting

You are really having a good feeling about this AFCON?

Joebie:
They will score a lot if they can play as a team. I have nothing to worry. I don’t trust our dedicated full backs.
With Aina, Kalu and Simon as wingbacks, I’m comfortable. Our 3 CBS know their job. Our keeper would get good cover.

I can see some people whining about Ighalo, somebody that still played about 2/3 weeks ago, not months o and he's resumed training ahead of tournament that will start in over one week time, what exactly is the problem there? players have knocks and they come back from it fully fit. I know weytin they pain some of una, it's because if he had been dropped your favorite boy would have been picked sorry Ighalo will start at Afcon and he'll surely bully Burundi

as in I don't get it this is someone that is your best striker going into a tournament and you want him dropped because of a minor knock sometimes we need to take it easy on this thread not everything should be a conspiracy theory.
