We are one Nigeria but we should understand that this is different territories merged into one country in 1914. As much as we want to be united, we must respect the peculiarity of each of these territories. You can't come and use the phrase "one Nigeria" to foist a policy that other territories don't want.

Ruga shouldn't just be suspended, it should be abandoned.

Things like land are ancestral and dates back to years even before the amalgamation of Nigeria. Yakassai and his cohorts have no right to insist we give our land for Fulani settlements under the guise of one Nigeria. Our land was ours even before Nigeria came into existence, we decide what we want to do with it.

It saddens me when a government can't make industrial/economic clear-cut driven policies.
The last I checked, land mass in the north part exceeds others even Sambisa has not fully been utilized, charity begins at home. I suggest it starts from there.

Why not simply pipe water from the south to the arid north?

They have wells there. Buhari should drill borehole allover for them.

Southerners make we get sense and start to venture into this cattle business oh. Once maga pay boys for street, make them buy land for inside bush and buy cows straight.
Most of the cattles in the south are even owned by southerners but the Hausas and Fulanis help take care of them. One thing is still dont understand is that the RUGA issue is simply voluntary for interested states why is it that those states who said they are not interested still complaining? Is it that they dont want interested states to adopt the scheme for fear of something or what? Just like sharia law, only interested states are practicing it against earlier speculation that it may be forced on the entire country. Abeg make una help me reason am

You are correct!

I hope the Fulani apologist are taking note.

President Muhammadu Buhari should not only suspend the unpopular Ruga settlement plan but in its entirety jettison the ideas.

Federal government have no land in the state except Abuja (FCT )

Why can’t the federal government create those ruga settlements in a particular location (either in sambisa),indirectly creating a Fulani state rather than spreading them to all the states, what’s the aim ?Create your RUGA in a particular location in the north rather than spreading it .

Even Lands in the FCT is collectively owned by the public, States, as we assume practicing Federation.

A person can't sit in Abuja to determine what land is to be used for

RUGA was death on arrival. Why is it coming up again soon? Any policy that will not have the safety of lives of Nigerians shouldn't come to the table to be deliberate on and so call RUGA is undoubtedly one of them. It can never settle the ongoing crisis between herders and farmers in the recent times. God will never allow it come back in Jesus name,Amen.

2016v2017:

Good one

*Please read. Very important*

*Baron Roy wrote:*

*QUESTION*

*If 12 northern states already signed up for RUGA, why was it then cancelled?*

*ANSWER*
*Because it was only meant for takeover of Southern Regions.*

*RUGA would have increased the population of the Fulani in the South.*

*With the new population, electoral victory would be decided by mainly the Fulani.*

*With the RUGA communities, Emirates would dot the South.*

*With the RUGA settlements, the Fulani Militia would have military advantage over their poor victims.*

*With indigenous Southern RUGA-made citizens, political positions in the South would start going to the Fulani.*

*There would be the possibility of Fulani governors Anambra, Fulani Senators from Ogun, Fulani Rep members from Calabar.*

*In another 200 years, indigenous people of the South would be an absolute minority in their Homeland!*

*No, RUGA wasn't meant for the Northern States; it was absolutely designed for the South!*

*They might have suspended the public establishment of the RUGA but would commence the surreptitious establishment by approaching individuals and communities offering them obscene amounts.*

*Information reaching me shows that millions of Fulani nomads have arrived in recent weeks and are just waiting for 'posting' to the different RUGAs. These people cannot go back to their countries (if they ever had one).*

*It is safe to conclude that we have crossed the Rubicon and there's no room for retreat for the newly arrived Fulani.*

*The suspension is a gambit to let down our guards; we are in very apparent danger now.*

*We must organize our regions to stave off the next wave of violent attacks.*

*They're here...and they shall come.*

*#thinkAgainSouth.

hmmmm cool

You still don't get it do you. You are looking at this whole thing naively. The real agenda is for the Fulani to take over the Southern part of Nigeria. It is simply why, despite the Northern States signing onto the RUGA scheme, it was cancelled. Do you think if the Southern States had signed on, it would have been cancelled or suspended or whatever? I don't know why we all do not have an appreciation of history nor do we understand that history has a way of repeating itself over and over again.

How did the Yoruba lose what is known today as Kwara state?

How did the minority tribes in the North lose their ethnic identity over time?

What is the origin of the Fulani people? How did they end up in what is known as modern day Nigeria and other countries across Africa? What have been their activities since?

When you understand these, coupled with the rhetoric and body language of the Fulanis in Nigeria since inception, you will have understood the real motive behind RUGA and why Southern Nigerians and the minority tribes of the North are against it.
