If we had actually wingbacks playing yesterday that'd have eased our middle.

Players that should not go to AFCON 2021 and FIFA 2022

Akpeyi
Ezenwa

Balogun
Ogu
mikel

Onuachu (Doesn't look like a national team player) but his height would have been a plus if he knew how to use it. Maybe he should be tested more?

Shehu should move back to the midfield. Etebo should become the new mikel.
Another creative midfielder should join that middle apart from Iwobi.

Secondly we need to draft Musa straight to either 9 or FALSE 9. The. MUSA I KNOW IS A GOAL SCORER AND NOT A CREATOR PER SAY.

Lol

why do you want balogun out?

Idowu?? No please. I think Aina and Collins for LB ... Ehizube or Odubajo can deputize for Ebuehi at RB. Just an opinion. Musa Mohammed too should get sense na.

Idowu is better than Collins based on what I have seen. He offers both offensive and defensive play to his game unlike Collins who is only defensive.

Aina should be allowed to play in his natural position. Ebuehi should slog it out with him.

Odubanjo can be tried too.

Naija mentality at it once again, you see him as an old man, lol but he is just 31

As far as he is regular for his club and doing well why cant he continue playing?

Should i remind you that a 33 year old championship player bossed the midfield vs eagles yesterday?

The thought of a losing to an Arab team is paining me severely.

Senegal must beat Algeria.

We must also do our part to defeat Tunisia.

Unless Balogun starts playing regularly for his club or gets a new club, he shouldn't be invited again. No room for bench warmers

Its point blank simple. There's no way we'd beat Algeria with the system built around the kind of players we brought to the tournament. You might come off with the "..bbut we have attacking talents" . I say how would they attack if the middle can not join/connect with them
That is a 100 percent on Rohr. From the game against SA where he invited 3 midfielders - some of us here were screaming and begging him to try out midfielders but he didn't listen.
2022 is less than 3 years away. We should be trying out the likes of Eze, Igbekeme, Zubairu, etc.

Thanks.

No room for sentiments

Both Mikel and ogu played regularly for their clubs but age is telling on them.

We have alot of young defenders out there that must be groomed starting from after this AFCON

This is an international media.
Like I said he should have brought in Shehu to support Ndidi and move Etebo forward to Iwobi's position.
Shehu gives everything and he would have been of help to Ndidi with Etebo pressing them high up on the pitch knowing fully well there's a cover for him instead Rohr was seen on the bench drinking water when the Algerians were all over us in the closing minutes.
Sincerely yours no Nigerian coach would have behaved in such a non chalant manner.

Then remove Iwobi for Kalu, the game is there for the taking.
How can you suggest Mikel that has been losing balls and given away possession in such a fast pace game.

The same mistake he made against Argentina. It was obvious we needed reinforcement in the mildfield but Rohr was adamant to substitute any of the trio.. Mikel, Ndidi and Etebo whom he had only used in all the matches he played.

The same senerio played out.

Rohr should have changed the formation to 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 if he read the match and wanted to destabilise the Algerians plot.

Agreed. I was just talking specifically on yesterday's game.
It should be a priority now to get Midfielder(s) and Goal keepers

Immediately after the pk he should have switched to 3-5-2 with just one substitution. That calls to ask, what are his assistants usually DOING!!!

Anyway, its in the past

Dutch Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen have confirmed the signing of promising Nigerian winger Chidera Ejike.

The 21-year-old has inked a four-year contract that will keep him at De Superfriezen until at least June 2023.

Ejike was courted by Manchester City before undergoing trials at Champions League winners Liverpool in 2016, prior to his move to VĂ¥lerenga the following year.

''We are proud that Chidera has chosen us. We have been following him for some time and know his qualities,'' Gerry Hamstra, technical manager told SC Heerenveen's official website.

''With Chidera we brought in a player for whom the people come to the stadium. With his speed, dribbling and scoring ability, he fits perfectly with sc Heerenveen. "

Emmanuel Ebiede, Henry Onwuzuruike and Uche Nwofor have played for SC Heerenveen in the past

And you have seen how many people on this thread wants them dropped at these ages yet you want Balogun at 33 in the Nations cup /world cup.

Mikael and Ogu played regularly in their various clubs before the AFCON.
Selective justice huh?

how did I drift when this is your own post

With the talents at our disposal how do we play with high intensity when there's no conductor in the middle or even back

my problem with you is that you repeat one thing over and over with the hope it sounds more intelligent.
I asked you a simple question, how do we play with high intensity when a piece (Midfield conductor(s)) is missing?
Will Rohr groom one?

As I said before, it has to do with time and instilling the principles. You can write now we do not have a conductor but it is because we do not play that way for a while.

In reconstructing the team to play in such fashion, it will take teaching the team how to play with the tactics and thus utilising some players to play those roles.

A good example is Mikel, who I tell people is the best in dictating the game when the team plays in a possessive fashion.

Unfortunately, Mikel from his time at Chelsea and some era's of the Super Eagles Mikel did not play that role and many will feel we have a player who lacks that ability.

In recent years, we have stuck with Ighalo who does not press with intensity, while players like Osimhen, Iheanacho to an extent and Kayode can bring that to help us defend from the front.

So it is not about Rohr grooming one. It is that Rohr can not coach the system to pick the players to suit the system.

I did not expect an overnight transition to the possessive/offensive play fashion. Rohr had years. And in years, we can not play in such fashion.

Then you asking of players playing in particular roles when Rohr has never tried it or can not coach it is drifting. If an offensive coach takes over the team, he will train the team to play in such fashion and also identify players to fit in. Without sacrificing quality in the name of experience.

That is why Rohr can over look the likes of tactical players who can build up plays like Mikel (by not playing him in a deeper role to control the game), Raheem Lawal (when Rohr first arrived), Azubike, Nwobodo and to some extent, Kelechi Nwakali.

He stayed on the bench for the majority of last season, yet he was invited. One of Rohr's mistakes. Hope he learns from this too
