iuwe: Not really. If the sum total of your high glossing films BO is higher than your competitions, doesn't matter if your films are only 2 or 3 in number, you've won the year. In this regard Disney has already won the year. 2 Likes |
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Nobody: 5:54am On Jul 31, 2019 |
abduleez1: Disney is so far ahead of the competition this year, that even if it were to shift Star Wars, Maleficient and Frozen to 2020, it will still win the year with miles to spare. |

KoiceReloaded, help me with the link of The Avengers. Part 1 I mean, at least 720p quality. A friend needs it and I don't have the time to look for it. |

Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Nobody: 7:00am On Jul 31, 2019 |
abduleez1: Sony owns the distribution rights, while Disney owns the property rights, thus technically, Sony only claim to the film, and the proceeds by proxy, lies in the distribution contract. In other words, Spider-Man: Far From Home is Disney's, not Sony's. |
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Nobody: 7:29am On Jul 31, 2019 |
abduleez1: This year alone, Disney put 4 movies in the billion dollar club, with 3 more on the peripheral, and 3 more yet to premiere... I don't think Hobbs and Shaw will unsettle anything, to be completely frank. Disney owns the year... and the foreseeable future. That much is apparent. |
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Nobody: 7:36am On Jul 31, 2019 |
DannyKoice:Lol, what are you talking about? Sony made a deal with marvel/Disney. Everything about Spider-Man is owned by Sony down to the villains. Ask universal about hulk. You really need to do some reading. Read the circled area carefully, only the avengers does Disney have more rights but far from home is purely Sony

Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Nobody: 7:48am On Jul 31, 2019 |
iuwe: Lolz, that's not what the article said at all, it actually consolidated what I said, bro. It's a contract that allows Sony to ONLY distribute films that have Spidey as the protagonist. I see that you conveniently left out the part where it says Disney shares Spider-Man film rights with Sony, lolz. |
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Nobody: 9:56am On Jul 31, 2019 |
DannyKoice: Are you kidding me? Who made the Venom movie? What about the upcoming Morbius the living vampire movie? All this are Spider-Man villains and Sony property. You are right about one thing though, the deal with Disney stipulates that Sony has the rights when Spider-Man is the main character (please not just the protogainst), who was the main character in Far From Home then? All Avengers movie has the Disney Logo and all standalone Spidey movie has Sony. Go and look at the cover photo for the movie again. DannyKoice:Let me just drop this one here. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://collider.com/spider-man-marvel-sony-deal-explained/%3Famp&ved=2ahUKEwjF0Pyz497jAhUyrHEKHf9-BGoQFjANegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw2MHDremeQ8iQjg5gQMtG0G&cf=1 Carefully read the screenshot for proper information

JeromeBlack:orange is the new black was everything you would expect a finale to be, well written and good. |
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Nobody: 10:54am On Jul 31, 2019 |
iuwe: Since Sony is the primary distributor of Spidey movies, it stands within reason it should have it's logo on the cover photo. Netflix for instance, has it's logo on The Expanse outside USA because it's the sole distributor of the product outside the country, even though Amazon Primes has the proprietary rights overall. Anyhoo, The article reads, "While Marvel studios doesn't get any box office from Spider-Man: Homecoming and it's sequel, they do still owns the merchandising rights to Spider-Man, and thus if Homecoming is a success, that will no doubt extend toys, underoos, and other Spider-Man products available." It went further to state, "Moreover, ensuring Spider-Man: Homecoming is a good movie helps the MCU brand." The article clearly states here that MCU owns the property/merchandising rights to Spider-Man, and preceding Homecoming BO success, stands to gain even more control over Spider-Man property rights, or am I imagining it? What exactly are you on about, man? 1 Like |

DannyKoice:Merchandising rights is different from property rights please. Marvel studios still owns the merchandise rights like spiderman comics, action figures, stickers, posters, tee shirts etc, that is why Disney can do anything with spiderman comics because the profits is their but the property rights is solely Sony's. Do you think Sony paid marvel $10m in 2001 I think to be bossed around? DannyKoice: This is what I am saying, Far From Home is a Sony movie not Disney's, and all the box office proceed goes to Sony DannyKoice: |

Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Nobody: 11:32am On Jul 31, 2019 |
iuwe: Property rights is an aspect of merchandising, bro. It's actually the first stage of merchandising. iuwe: You deliberately misinterpreted the article to suit your narrative. The article said that Marvel shared the right with Sony on Homecoming. but didn't reap the proceeds. but as per the agreement, will have more financial reward from the sequels, which in this case is Far From Home. In other words, Sony and Disney will share the proceeds from Far from Home, while Disney will strengthen it's grip on the merchandise. 1 Like |

Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Nobody: 12:07pm On Jul 31, 2019 |
DannyKoice: Nope, property rights Sony bought was the entire filming rights. You cannot make a spiderman movie without Sony's authorization. No company would be stupid to sell character rights. Let's put spiderman rights this way, Sony owns Filming rights Marvel owns Character rights and merchandizing rights Disney owns Marvel but without Sony's filming rights. DannyKoice: And I read, "While Marvel studio doesn't get any box office from Spider-Man and its' Sequel meaning marvel isn't profiting from Far From Home.

Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Nobody: 12:34pm On Jul 31, 2019 |
iuwe: Marvel owns the Spider-Man merchandise, and used to have the sole proprietary rights to the merchandise, but after hitting a financial snafu, they sold part of the rights to Sony while retaining their full merchandise ownership. The stipulation being, Sony will distribute and have total creative control of any Spider-Man movie in which he's the main character, while MCU will have the distribution and total creative control in movies Spider-Man is a minor character. Thus, to all intends and purpose, they are sharing the rights to Spider-Man, just like the article articulated. So even if Sony receive all the proceeds from Homecoming and Far From Home BO, MCU and by extension, Disney wins either way, since it stands to gain millions of dollars from sells of Spidey accessories like toys, Underwears, regalia and whatnot (something Sony couldn't replicate in regards to Infinity War and Endgame). Bottom line, MCU owns the merchandise and part of the proprietary (filming) rights. iuwe: I guess we see what we want to see. |
