The statement I am going to make will be more understood by an Accountant or Finance Professionals.

NNPC have the financial capability to pay the Transportation Fee of everybody that was interviewed at once.
But, in order to make their financial report look good and for the sake of managing their Operating Expenses (OPEX) effectively, the management must have been advised to spread the payment over a period of months so that their OPEX will not be too alarming in a particular month.

Let me give you an example.
Assuming NNPC made a sales of #1M in July when they started the payment of Transport Fee and the whole transport fee to be paid is 400k.

Note that NNPC have other expenses to meet. E.g Salaries of workers, maintenance of their facilities, Utility bills and other expenses I can't mention. Let's assume all these expenses equals to 500k.

This implies that if NNPC decides to meet all this expenses in July, I.e 400k + 500k = 900k

Then Profit of NNPC for July will be ( 1M- 900k) = 100k.

Therefore, a good financial adviser/analyst will advice NNPC thus:
The Payment of the Transport Fee for interviewees should be spread and be paid in Batches.
Let's say 100k should be paid per month. This means it will take four month to settle all the people interviewed.

Let now see how this will affect their profit in July:
100k will be paid as Transport Fee for interviewees and 500k will be paid for other expenses. All expenses for July Will now be 600k. Therefore the profit for July will be (1M - 600k) = 400k.
Going by this, you can see that a profit of 400k will speak well than Profit of 100k earlier reported when they pay all interviewees Transport Fee at once.

Other financial experts in this thread can attest to this as I drop my pen.

LOL. Why does this sound like what banks do towards the end of the month? They try as much as possible to lock in funds so that their deposits for the month would look good. Then the next month, the funds can vamoose, then they begin another frantic search for funds for the new month.

NNPC cannot do this. Firstly, the reimbursement was budgeted for. Secondly, they are bigger than that. So far, no one has been able to propound a convincing reason to support the haphazard nature of the reimbursements, but for those that will make it to the towers eventually, please help us ask Lazarus and the rest. They are in a better position to answer.

If you analyse the trend, you will notice a certain calm after someone drops a date (whether true or false).

Let people keep giving us dates, from july ending, to 1st week of August, to 3rd week of August, to September 9/10. It's all good. . Having something to hold on to, is better than nothing. #DamageControl

It's both ways, NNPC created the enabling environment and the nature of candidates invited ensured the process ran smoothly...trying to delve further in this discuss would cause another commotion here even though it's not intended.

Firstly, I'm engrossed in this thread mainly because of its nature (funny, speculative, the thrill - like abomb waiting to explode) and the turn of events,. I want to see how things unfold despite me being sure I wouldn't accept any potential offer. Maybe I'm different in that regard, but that's just how it is. Same way I paid close attention to discussions and results on my other applications for IT during my time in school even when I knew where I was going. It's the same here. Also, as a personal thing, I have gotten all jobs, scholarships I have ever applied to and would love to see that running. But you can be rest assured that I wouldn't be at NNPC. My scale of preference is Shell (if they miraculously conclude before my deadline to accept other offers ) - exxon offer - chevron offer
