If you’re getting the Benz. I’ve read a post here about the stearing getting locked and it cost about 200k to get it done. I’m sure the Benz gurus will explain better.

Me saying you could use 10 hours to fix a 30minutes job is merely an assumption because we know Nigerians like to manipulate situations, I’m a Nigerian but I’ll say Nigerians are to be feared, me inclusive, however there was no misunderstandings wen I visited ur shop, I was quite surprised to be charged over 900k for fixes and part, then I thought to my self the car is just 2.9m - 3.5m for toks and I drove the car with only a noise from my steering from mainland to ur shop, d noise was caused by a mec putting a bigger ac compressor in the car than car’s specific compressor size, as I see the bill, I jejely run ohh, I’ve not mentioned any of such on this forum at all and I don’t intend to soil ur name or biz, I’ll probably delete this post cos I no want trouble or spoil anybody market

Edit: pls I’ve deleted my full post on the part you quoted, Abeg, pls, biko help me delete am from ur side too, I no wan put sand sand for another man/woman garri,

There's no problem bro, she's free-spirited and used to banter on this street. And besides you have a right to air your views without fear or favor on here. Even in the U.S, parts are relative cheap but labor isn't. Its a universal thing, so do get that w204 c300 and she just might give you cheaper rates.

Hot tip: always mention Nairaland

Kk, like I said b4 I was not directly saying you’d manipulate hours but rather, my statement was me asking a “what if” a mechanic wants to build mansion on our head and stay put on a job to get more labor rates, it’s good to know there’s a standard time for fixing a part or getting a job done, so “if” any mechanic that charges hourly were to try anything funny, I cld take my stand n object

Took my car to rada once, they gave me quote, I ran, the quote was almost half the price of my full car and they weren’t fixing much ohh

So if it’s 5k per hour basis, they cld decide to fix a car for 10 hours instead of the 30minutes it would normally take to do the fix? Thereby charging you madly

I doubt I wld be visiting them in the near future

This is not nice sir.

IS350 Engine is over 1 million Naira. Why not go for IS250 the engine is less than 200K.

Sorry to butt in, i just need some clarification.

Why is it that whenever the discussion tends towards requesting advice on the lexus IS350, the most common comment is 'the engine is 1million naira, get the is250'?

Is it that the engine is unreliable, and would need to be replaced frequently? I think (stand to be corrected) that the engine of those cars should - with proper timely maintenance, which shouldn't be that hard since you can afford the car initially - be able to last the lifetime of the car, considering the lexus/Toyota reliability reputation.

I'm just always surprised when the engine price is the first thing that comes up as a factor for not picking the car, is there a problem somewhere?

Boss look my statement well, I was making an assumption and asking a question, it’s only fair that there is an average to get a particular job done, because we know how things work in Nigeria, I’ve given someone a job to make a suit/coat for me far back, I was quite astonished when a suit job turned to 4 months plus

For house, I never do house project before sha, so my assertion might be wrong, I hear you pay based on how many blocks the pon pon carry or something like dat, if we were to base it on hourly, the pon pon guy mite do one fence for two years so his hourly rate would increase

No pun intended though, wen I wanted to fix anything in my car then, I always wanted the best because it was my daily driver, so I dint want to cut any journey half due to bad crap that went wrong but some prices cld actually be extreme

Pls forgive me, I don’t think I’ll be doing that at all, I feel bad already that my statement drew so much attention, I b low key type of person, I don’t want more attention from this ohh...

I always walk away most times a job or stuff was not done in accordance with wat was planned, some may say it’s foolish but that’s me for you

You’ve been of great help through the time I used the Lexus in question, I hope you would too wen I get another car, that’s y quoted u asking abt c300 or Acura MDX, I know just enough I need to know abt cars but me no be engineer so I’ll somehow someday need ur help or any other techie’s help

Bosch is OEM - they and VDO single handedly built most parts on your w210 and most other Benz's

I wanted to advise you againt changing from a Lexus until I saw this. Well, goodluck but don't buy 2015 C300 because of fire issues. The Mercedes CLA is a good one. My lil brother drives one. Only keep money for brakepad and disc. You'll have to get used to your bumper tearing from the car every now and then because of low clearance. Apart from this every seems fine.

Also there are other options you might like including the Dodge, Ford. Also if you must buy Germany, most BMWs are way better than their price contemporaries.

Good luck. See you in the Lexus thread by the end of this year. cheesy

If you visited our shop, you would know that's not how it works. First off, estimate is showed to you for approval BEFORE repair starts not after so we don't bill based on how long it took the mechanic.

On the off chance you really did visit us and there was a misunderstanding, here is the thread explaining billing that has been on Nairaland since the beginning. Feel free to post your car model and the required repair and I will screenshot the charges here for all to see.

https://www.nairaland.com/4672565/how-much-should-expect-pay#70221032

This is true, the last time I went for an oil change in April, I got my fuel, 6 litres.... I only paid for the oil change and a new filter.... I paid 10k, 6k for filter and 4k for the job done. I think that's reasonable charge for a good job. Though I felt the filter was a bit on the high side.

Guys, what would you do if a mechanic who was meant to repair your car, parked it in his workshop, got it to work later that night, took it out to a club and got in an accident that got the car badly damaged?

Wetin u go do? It happened to someone very close to me recently.

Note: You both agreed it was gonna be fixed the next day and he decided to go fix it dt nyt, took it out to the club/bar without your consent. Car got badly damaged at the front end. It was a head-on collision with anoda stationary vehicle. Car in question is a 2010 C300 Benz.
