This is a pure rubbish teaching coming from a Catholic Bishop of gay kingdom.

Where did God order that we should do what this preacher said with our tithe? Nowhere. What God said in Malachai 3:10 is that we should bring the tithe to his house. He didn't say we should branch somewhere else with it.

Yes, the pastor's idea seems like a reasonably brilliant and kind one, but that doesn't make it right in God's eyes. Remember that the way man thinks is different from the way God thinks.

Man thinks it is a good thing to give the tithe to someone in need of it. But where did God say such about tithe? Nowhere. He only said to bring it to his house and from there it is distributed to the needy.

Think of it this way: You are on your way to the hospital with 100k to pay for your child's medical bills. Suddenly you found a needy man. Be honest with yourself, will you give the money to the needy man to the detriment of your child in the hospital?

I can bet you won't. So why do you now think it is right to give your tithe to the needy man? Remember, it is God's money and you have no right to decide how to help God spend it, especially when he gave you no such order.

Look, don't let people bamboozle you weird scenarios like the one given by the preacher. Always stand by God's command. The tithe is his, and the only thing you can do with it is to take it to his house, nowhere else.

They may even use your child as an example, saying what if your child is sick and the money needed for treatment is equivalent to the tithe money you have, which is your last dime.

What will I say in this case? Give that money to God because it is his. At this point many will be kicking against me. Little do they know that they are kicking against Jesus who said...

Mathew 10:37
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Why do you think Abraham is referred to as a friend of God today? Because he obeyed God by proceeding to sacrifice his son Isaac as commanded by God. He didn't think twice. But people who are not worthy of Jesus are the ones who will disobey him by doing the thoughts of their heart instead of his word.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

I disagree. How do you define the house of God? Its not a physical building as you have made it seam. We are the church, the temple of God. He said if we do this to the needy we have done same to him.

Also your analogy if your child in the hospital and finding a man in need of it is not applicable here, its completely off point.

Despite your long epistle you never quoted were it was stated explicitly we shouldn't give our tithe money to those in need.

In fact it makes more sense to give your tithe to those in need. That's how you win them to christ.

So sad that Christians nowadays will have dying siblings, poverty stricken neighbours and friend instead of helping they will be donating millions to church and watch those in need suffer.

The reason most people give tithe is for them to get multiple in return. They turn God to money doubler not because they are interested helping others

Sorry fella, we are not to wait till we die before we know where we are going to spend eternity. We who have been saved through believe in Jesus Christ know we already have eternal life as we speak.

1 John 5:13
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
What makes you think you are saved. In the last 2 hours alone you have insulted your fellow Christians over 3 times. Keep deceiving yourself

Go and sit down jor!!!
See the long rubbish u just typed.
So God will be happy with u for leaving an accident victim or sick person dead when u ignore them and bring the money to ur church that already has more
How does using ur sick child as example relates to God?
Is God sick or in need?

The purpose of bringing the tithe to the church is to help the poor, sick and needy in the first place.....so what's the difference if u help the needy u met outside with ur tithe?
U think God is a wicked God and think dumbly like u and other pastor puppets who are being clouded nd brainwashed with confusion and rightful reasoning

Nonsense!!!

Interesting. So if the money is of God. God should tell us a way we can give the money to him directly rather than give some preacher who you claimed or believe will distribute to the needy. If the money will be given to the needy, is it that same needy the man of God said you should give to? What you should have said is that, Men should be honest and unbias in given the money to the needy. And in the process of given that money to them, he or she should let them know the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The present day Christians are mostly selfish. Consider the risk and sacrifices the old Christians took in passing the gospel, is it same as today?

If you want to go by the old testament malachi please read from beginning to the end. Abraham gave tithe only once, from the proceed of looting (stealing). Tithing is under the law, we are now in the dispensation of grace, if you want to stick to the era of laws, then there is nothing wrong in a man having more than one wife.

Please loud it, so those that are deaf hear...infact it is moral, and divine to give to a poor desperate man in need, than to further enrich a wealthy man...this will help curb the frustration in the system.

2. You are the temple of the Lord- meaning God lives in you.
3. If you put your money in someone's life, it means you are giving it to the Lord.
Above all, make sure you have good intentions before giving i.e don't give and expect in return.

And yet another tithe debate.

The more you love God and your neighbor, the more you will give to help with the things of God and the welfare of others, be it your money, your time, your talents, even down to the excess possessions you hold.

You are not giving because of what you’re expecting in return, which is a selfish and childish way of thinking.

You are giving because the Holy Spirit has replaced (or replacing) your selfish nature with the fruit of love, which is a selfless nature.

You will eventually see the joy in giving, not because of what you’re expecting from God, but for the joy that comes with putting a smile on God’s face for promoting His kingdom, and solving the challenges of others.

And in that, we can truly say "THY WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN"

Happy Sunday everyone.

Beautiful sir

The bible says that it's note blessed to give than to receive. The Greek translation of blessed as used in that verse is "happy, fulfilled, better". What that means is that as a child of God in whom Gods love exist in fullness, you should feel happier giving to others and to his kingdom without expectations of anything. God ain't a money doubler and he isn't the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

However, the pervasive greed among Christians has made this scripture to be hijacked by men of God who should know better. So they tell people that to receive Gods blessings (which is normally free of charge as he makes his rain to fall on the just and the unjust), you need to sow. They replace hard work and diligence in ones handiwork with sowing seeds and tithes. All lies.....

Tithe is an instruction to be given to the priests, the tribe of Levi.

They have no inheritenace, God is their inheritance in Deuteronomi.

Every true servant of God has been crated into that lineage tru the son of David, Jesus.

There is a place for sacrifices and offerings.

There is also a place for alms.

I won't call you names but read 1 Corinthians 6vs19 20 it said that our body is the temple OF God the priest said that we should save that temple with our tithe. If I investigate you properly you will be some of these criminals deceiving innocent people of God and robbing them of their hard earned money

It makes sense. Infact giving to the poor and needy is the only type of giving that Jesus said could determine if someone goes to heaven or not:

Matthew 25:34-36 (KJV)

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Matthew 19:21 (KJV)

21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

Luke 12:33 (KJV)

33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

But never tithing, for there was never a time in the whole Bible, not just in Jesus' teachings, it was said or even suggested that giving of tithes could be factorial in anyone making heaven or not.

In fact, if anything, it was shown to be very inconsequential in that respect, as the Pharisees who prided themselves so much in the giving of tithes, and used it to condemn others who don't tithe, were portrayed by Jesus as the chief candidates of hell during His ministry on Earth:

Matthew 23:15 (KJV)

15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

Matthew 23:33 (KJV)

33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

So if you're someone who over-emphasizes tithing, be afraid for yourself. Or if you know someone else who does, be afraid for that person, for so did the Pharisees.

God bless.

Amen
And God bless you too.

Unfortunately for you, the pastor is right. The same bible you read states that God doesn’t reside in houses built by men. Your church is a house built by men. Jesus also said to the rich obedient man; “sell all you have, give it to the poor and follow me.” He didn’t tell him to pay any tithe. Plus your pastor is keeper of the house, so if he says you can donate your tithe elsewhere, you can do it. Stop supporting unnecessary settings.

No where in the Bible did they record Jesus paying tithes. The synagogue was a place to teach, not to record who has more money than the other. I’m not saying you shouldn’t pay tithe, the poor widow did. But helping the needy stands above everything. If the tithe is meant to help the needy, then why can’t you give it to them in a situation like that.

Paying tithe is a way for additional blessings according to Malachi, not a must. It says that they rob God but withholding their tithes and offerings. Not by spending it on helping the needy. Withholding is different from donating it elsewhere to what is quite humane (I guess that’s the word you guys use).

Las las, you’ve tithed to the lord if the lord is in your heart. Paul didn’t pay tithe (there’s no record). Peter didn’t either. Paul commended his converts on their charitable donations to him. He didn’t force anybody to pay tithe to him. He said help each other with what thou hast.

If you think God needs your 10%, then you need to up your BK. He actually wants you to show that you’re not greedy and not withholding what he gave to you. You’re blessed to bless others. So yes, if your tithe is the last money you have with you, and you see a man begging to eat genuinely, then if you possess empathy, you can give it to him.

“For that which a man gives with hope of returns is less than what he gives without hoping to get it back.” You’re hoping that God would bless you for giving tithe, but you’re giving to that man so he can survive for another day. Which will your God expect you to do most?

Apination:

You are ignorant. If you want to follow the Malachi teaching you are so keen on propagating, make sure you quote everything:
"Bring your full tithe to the Temple treasury so there will be ample provisions in my Temple. Test me in this and see if I don't open up heaven itself to you and pour out blessings beyond your wildest dream."
The tithe is not for the pastor but to the temple treasury and giving tithes is to support the levites who had no physical inheritance and is tied to the land Israel received . The priesthood of the levites does not apply to any Christian if that was the case, christ would not have come. Tithes are part of the old covenant and have no place in Christianity which teaches sacrifice and free giving

Thanks for this. I wonder why there is still confusion among Nigerian Christians on this tithe issue.
I see a number of well to do Christians who are big generous givers in the Church but extremely stingy and mean to the every day folks, including their employees. I believe they do this because they think that giving to the Church will ensure salvation for them. I think they are mistaken.

can you point out anywhere in the Bible where Jesus paid or received 10%? his apostle paid or received 10%? the early Christians paid or received 10% .
no matter what you guys say tithe is now old fashioned. tithe can no longer meet it original purpose.
the priest in Israel time did not use the tithe to build mansion or run the synagogue nor did they use it to fund their personal life.

Well said my brother smiley

If anyone does make a substitution, both the animal and its substitute become holy and cannot be redeemed.’ ” 34 These are the commands the LORD gave Moses at Mount Sinai for the Israelites.
