I can quote a whole conversation said by popular monikers here on this thread. Asserting the fact that GCAM 3rd party app crashes after 3 photos. And I wont call a 6gb ram phone a small ram . And the moniker made mention that he had to use the stock camera plus snapspeed

Btw I am not disputing the fact that Sseries users may request for Gcam. But they don't do it because the need it they do it because they want it. The economist will understand.

I know someone using a RN7 who shoots decent pictures with stock camera. He doesn't even know what Gcam means. People use Gcam because it shoots better pictures doesn't mean the stock shoots bad pictures.

Good, better, best... I hope you can relate? You're talking as if the stock camera shoots "bad" pictures and that's very wrong. If you can have an icing on the cake, is it wrong to go for it?

No no no I have praised and recommended Xiaomi on other threads. So I am not trying to discredit Xiaomi. Because I have nothing to gain from discrediting Xiaomi. It's only marketers that will enjoy discrediting a brand to promote the other. And I am not a marketer you can check my profile. Neither do I have an alternate moniker promoting Samsung. I have said it time without number that I hate the idea of creating several monikers.

And by the way Samsung doesn't have nor need marketers.

I only engage in convos to which I can relate to. And try to whet my understanding of devices.

Lol.

You engage in conversations with prejudice. It's obvious from your immediate wont to attack Xiaomi users at any given instance. Read through your messages and maybe you'll see through your true intentions. Remember when you said the corning gorrilla glass on Redmi note 7 is from an "unknown source"? That enough, coupled with other denigrating remarks, show where you stand.

Xiaomi isn't perfect. They might have a lot of imperfections (..and maybe more than Samsung) but it won't harm you if you give them kudos for some job well done.

PS: I don't use either Xiaomi or Samsung but I've handled a lot of phones from both makers and they both have their pros and cons. No phone is a "perfect phone." There's either one to dislike or one thing to love so dearly.

Cheers!

[s]You guys know the truth
Xiaomi may be good
But it is yet to perfect its software. And the deeply flawed software is negating how good the processor is. And that is why because the camera system software is bad. You need a better camera software Gcam to improve the picture quality. The camera hardware is good but the software is not utilizing its full potential

Same with the whole OTA Upgrade that requires complex processes and varies from region to region.

And if you will accept the truth the whole GCAM install is not really useful. Because I have read here that after taking 3 pictures at a time the Google camera crashes. The pictures taken after that are lost. So Xiaomi may be the best for those who love rooting their phones. But in actuality they have a long way to go

Please I am not trying to discredit Xiaomi. Please read without prejudice to my former comments[/s].

I agree with you. I feel in his mind, he's trying to point out Xiaomi's non-existent flaws and then trying to uplift Sammy in the process. It ends up backfiring 'cos he doesn't have enough know-how of how things is/was/or will be.

Yes Bro I get you totally. The Camera on the RN7 is superb but what I am trying to say is this ;Xiaomi makes use of the best hardware unlike the transsion devices that opt for mediocre processors yearly. But it should also be noted that without transsion the market prices of the major brands would still have been ridiculously high. In fact Xiaomi should be commended for opening the eyes of Nigerians. Not too long ago I have never had the need to look at the processor of a device before buying it. I used to take note of Octacore and quad core and camera thinking that was what separated flagships from entry level devices. But thanks to phone section, Xiaomi thread and the great minds in this thread I have been able to differentiate. And even understand more

And in my opinion Xiaomi has one of the best hardware but they are yet to perfect their software. Maybe some aspects in their software are superb like the gesture and interface. But the areas I have taken note of that needs attention on this thread are Camera , Upgrades , and some minor issues that have been raised by users in this thread.

And that is why I said those who root their Xiaomi phones will enjoy most. Because after rooting the software takes the back seat and the user is allowed to customise and effectively use his device to his hearts desire.
Thanks

Most times I keep my opinion to myself because of the backlash here. But I have tuned my mind to filtering out the negative and picking out the positive.

Sadly, it is an exact replication of what happens in the larger society. People are afraid of debates, and constructive criticism.
My greatest fear is becoming that which I used to loathe and detest. Being courteous, polite, and respectful doesn't cost anything.

The dude might have prolly downloaded a version which is not supported by his phone, but u just decided to spread hate.
2ndly,abt the software, no phone make can get it 100% right hence the need for OTA
Inconclusion, I'm not sure any1 is forcing anyone to buy or own Redmi phones, so stop spewing hatred abt MI

hello everyone, I have settled for a redmi 7 as I don't have enough funds for rn7 ( but there's no harm in helping, sha ☺)

I've gone through the reviews and I think it's pretty worth it (this will be my first Xiaomi phone).

I just wanna know if there's any other thing I need to, pros and cons inclusive and if there's a suitable alternative because some comments here are somewhat discouraging.

p.s. I'm just aware that Xiaomi phones don't come with earphones and the charger isn't the conventional 3-pin type I know.
Thanks

I use the Redmi 7 and I can confidently tell you you made the right choice. Redmi 7 is even more battery efficient than Redmi Note 7. The pros plenty ooo grin I've had guys ask me which iPhone am I using grin For cons, I'm yet to notice any. From the pictures I've seen here, many guys got the 2-pin charger but mine came with 3 pin (pix attached).

Turn off WiFi/Bluetooth scanning, set the sim that's not for Internet connection on 2G, reduce screen brightness.

Sorry bro,

But the whole post you quoted doesn't in anyway relate to the answer you gave. Yes I said Gcam doesn't worth it in another post. But in that same other post i said those who root their Xiaomi devices will enjoy the camera and the phone.

And it wasn't just a moniker but more than 2 major monikers on this thread asserted to this fact.

And to conclude why are you blaming for what I did not do, spilling hate to what monetary or physical gain?

I only referred to what your users had said in the past. If at all you should have any issue with what they said. You should have redirected it back to them, not me.
God bless us all
And when they were having that convo nobody that's feeling apprehensive now corrected them. On a weekend for that matter. I wanted to point out what they said but I left it to serve as what we call in law "Case Law". To be referred to in this near future.

Various, ranging from selfie camera not working, to green tint in pics produced using selfie camera, focus haunting & stability issues. Each one must come with one problem or the other & the only feature one really needs on gcam is the night sight, otherwise its totally not worth it.

If your stock cam produces decent images, then there's absolutely no need for gcam coz to me its a scam unless u get a stable one which is most unlikely.

The bolded is the reason you should get all your facts right before making an assertion.

Gcam is a third party camera port built on Google's algorithms, therefore there's no way a device will have only a build. The person you're referring to obviously installed a faulty build. Even you, if you do code can tweak it to your taste and it becomes a port for the device of your preference.

Lastly people don't use gcam because their default camera apps are crappy, like someone said they're going for the icing on the cake, personally I use my phone without any alteration and am fine with it.

Wouldn't you rather want a device with upgradable camera abilities than getting stuck with follow-come camera app?
