I think sales or any advert that is sales or payment related is not allowed on the Car Talks board. You can still do your thing on the Auto board irrespective of the numerous car adverts and similar advert. It all depends on your packaging.

FACTS ABOUT VEHICLE LICENCE

A vehicle licence is issued by a motor registration authority in a jurisdiction in respect of a particular motor vehicle.

A current licence is required for a motor vehicle to be legally permitted to be used or kept on a public road in the jurisdiction.

Usually a licence is valid for one year and an annual licence fee is payable before a new one is issued.

A vehicle licence may be a paper document to be kept in the vehicle at all times or in the form of an adhesive sticker to be affixed or displayed on the windshield of the vehicle.

A valid vehicle licence in addition to those of roadworthiness certification and auto-insurance is required to permit a motorist use a public road in a jurisdiction.

However unlike the roadworthiness certification and auto-insurance, the vehicle licence is renewable annually and debts will be accumulated for non-renewal.

Change of Ownership with Existing Plate number

When you sell you vehicle, the plate number is yours forever (as in your property).

You are expected to remove your plate number and keep the original papers while you handover photocopies of the papers to the new buyer. He need the copies to process change of ownership.

This means if you sell your old vehicle and removed the plate number on it, you can use the number again on another (newly purchased Nigerian used) vehicle

1. Go to http://www.nigeriadriverslicence.org and click "Renewal of Driver's Licence" under "DL Application"

2. Enter your details and submit the forms. Remember to select 'No' under the Repeat Biometric Data Capture option (Except you want to repeat biometric capture which can be time-consuming)

3. Pay online using your Visa or MasterCard

4. Print 2 copies of the Driver's Licence Application Preview Page

5. Make 2 copies of your current driver's licence

6. Get 2 passport photographs

7. Head to your selected FRSC Capture Center with your original driver's licence

8. Submit the forms, pay N2,500 for the VIO test/CD, make all needed photocopies (Lagos State Only)

9. Collect your temporary licence and check back in a month for the new one.

As an insider I can confirm to you that it works.

I was prompted to give this tips after guiding a lot of people to renew their driver's licence by themselves online .

I should have added that you will give some roger to FRSC and any relevant government official. This na Naija!

You can actually renew your licence yourself.


I know many people who have done it themselves, they followed the procedure above.


I recently guided a nairalander who was having issues while he was trying to renew his driver's licence himself - In fact this was what prompted me to write the post above so that anybody can do it without guidance.

There are many factors inter-playing here that keeps compounding the process - If you know, you know!

PROCESS OF OBTAINING A TINTED PERMIT

1. Fill the Application form online to obtain an Application ID.

2. Complete the Application Process by Login in with email provided and the Application ID.

3. Complete the Bio-Data form when logged-in and provide the details of the Vehicle you want to obtain a Tinted Permit for.

4. Take the Print-out to any Police Command, to capture your biometrics and collection of your Tinted Permit Certificate.
