I paid 7k plus in April to have my transcript delivered to one UK educational body. They didn't deliver. They didn't mail me. I mailed them like more than a month after only for them to tell me the address is invalid, they didn't say that before o, they waited for my mail.
They are not even replying to my request for refund as time has passed already.

Now I need my student copy, I can't get it. The student portal is not well set up.

And the record mail they gave out, the people on the receiving end are not competent at all. Imagine them telling me to goto FAQ and m apply from there.

I need my transcript before next week and I don't know what to do.

In my own case I paid 25k online for my transcript to be delivered to an evaluation company in the US. I started this process since May and it is yet to be delivered to the company. I am currently in the States thus I cannot physically go to Unilag Records Office to know what the issue is. I sent them several emails and its either they ignore me or reply me in caplocks that my transcript application will be treated accordingly.

So its five months and yet no transcript! Isn't that crazy? It's not fair as I believe this delay will encourage people (both student/alumni and staff) to indulge in bribery and corruption in order to fasttrack the system. I've already heard of people who got their transcript asap because they went to the Records Office to "fast track". The Unilag management need to stop this delay in processing transcript as it would only encourage corruption.

UNN iTranscript process is much better as I got my transcript within a space of 1 month. I got my transcript dispatched and received by an Evaluation Company and I did it from the comfort of my room! So I believe Unilag can do better.

It's high time something has to be done at the exams and records unit in un[color=#990000][/color]ilag. I applied for for transcript for the past 2 months,after paying 25k, up till now it's just showing application received on my profile. I think we really need to escalate this across various social media, maybe by then it will come to the attention of the Management.

The sad part is that, they have monetize the process of collecting transcript in unilag. Everything is money in that school .

I'm very sure that, if one has settled an official at the point of applying, one would have gotten by now.

What can we do people to escalate this issue, it's becoming unbearable.

Suggestion: Maybe we should try and get the email address of the VC or the Senate and bombered them with complaint mails.

The annoying thing is that thier pr is very bad. You send them mail and they take weeks to reply, only for them to give you responses that make you think it's one of the staff's kids that's being the system

I have also paid 25k courier fee for the past 2 weeks now no update.. I went there yesterday and was told that they often have to send them in bulk to save cost I guess. I have been told they only attend to people on tuesdays and thursdays for such issues.

I think you might need to reword the title of this thread so it can make FrontPage. Perhaps we can say: "Unilag VC: Why is There Long Delays in Getting Our Transcript Dispatched?" or if you have a better title.

Op, send a copy of the email to the VC, Dean, HOD, servicom, registrar in short anybody that matters. Tell them what has happen without mincing words. University management worth their onion will be bothered in this days of university ranking.

There is almost no school in Nigeria where you can easily get transcript via Mail, failure rate should be at 99.9%.

Better fork out some naira if you need your transscript asap, otherwise continue sending pointless mails.

I very well doubt if there is a federal institution in this country that don't have this transcript issue....

I work in a University and I understand the procedures.
The highest time an academic transcript should take is two weeks... that’s the practice here in LASU..
But if it exceeds that two weeks believe me the people who should work on it didn’t do it, probably because they want you to settle them because they know you will comeback.
Some of them were set up sometimes ago. They were caught they faced a disciplinary panel and were sacked.. since then the staffs are very careful because they don’t know who is who..

The problem is everywhere. I paid fees to have my transcript sent from ABU. I was kidding, it never arrived the institution! That was over a year ago.

But I want to focus on solution now, I applied a second time and because I could not physically be present in zaria, I asked a good friend who lives there to help me follow up, I begged him very much to endure the poor services and just collect it after they have addressed it to the foreign body. Note that I had paid for courier as part of the charges and they were supposed to send it but I know that if I am serious with my life, I can't trust the uni to send it, a lot could go wrong. In fact they said they would wait for it to pile up and can take them a month or more before eventually sending it, still, it would be asking too much for me to expect that it would even get to the destination.

The guy collected it, put it in another envelope and addressed it to me via ni post in Lagos. I then sent it through courier. It had arrived the destination in 2 days.

Next was verification. The body sent a mail to ABU asking them to confirm that the transcripts originated from the school but they did nothing. I kept waiting. I kept mailing the body and they kept saying Abu had not verified. Mind you, all ABU needs to do is send just an email!

Anyways, I contacted this good friend of mine again and he found out the office where the mail was to be sent from, turns out I have to pay. So we quickly paid and they sent the email. But the body never got it.

So, I sent my good friend who was leaving his job to help me do all that and I was getting embarrassed. He would go again and he had some luck talking with them, they would actually click the send button in his presence but still those ones didn't receive anything.

I begged him to help me go again and complain, he did and then they allegedly resent the email and copied me. But I didn't receive the email and at that time I was convinced that they had never done the right thing, cos if I can't get it, it means the one they've been sending to the body so never got there. Emails are so seamless so you can imagine the annoyance that they can't get that right.

Well, I waited for 2 weeks and mustered the courage to beg this friend of mine to go there again, then he did and he managed to convince them to resend and copy me, so they did again and for the first time, I received the email. The following day, the foreign body mailed me that they had gotten it and have proceeded with treating my documents. This was at the end of 3 months begging to just have an email sent!


Why did I take time to write all these? I was very frustrated during the period. And I'm writing to encourage others with similar experiences. I have also taken time to do this to let you know that you shouldn't fold your hands and assume that your requests will be processed, there are no systems in place to ensure that. So you must push, push and push. As you may have inferred from my case, pushing brought the results. If I had allowed them defeat me with their bad behavior and unprofessionalism, a major dream of mine would have died. So push.
