I laughed when Nigerians says Dangote refinery is the biggest capital investment in west africa or Africa... ""one of Ghana former president achievements include one of the biggest gas investment in recent times and the first of its scale in West Africa. It amounted to a whooping $7 billion in the Sankofa Gye Nyame Fields where the agreement on the offshore Cape Three Point project was signed in early 2015. The project was projected to produce 50,000 barrels of oil per day by 2017 and 180 mmscf/d of gas by 2018. Two development well were drilled as at September 2015. Key commercial agreements of this project , including a gas sales agreement, a multiparty deed agreement, and a sovereign guarantee were signed between the OCTP partners and the government of Ghana"" 2 Likes

According to Credit Suisse ,Global Wealth Report Databook 2019 , kenya lies 110 (Nigeria 143, Tanzania 141, Ghana 129) in wealth per capita/ individual. O Kenya is only third after middle class countries of South Africa, Namibia and Botswana in Sub-saharan Africa. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_wealth_per_adult In terms of total wealth Egypt — 898 South Africa — 770 Nigeria — 443 - OVER-COOKED GDP IN POVERTY CAPITAL OF THE WORLD Morroco — 305 Kenya — 249 Ethiopia — 163 Tunisia — 112 Tanzania — 82 Ghana — 66 All indications are kenya will soon join middle class - possibly by 2025 - definitely before 2030. 3 Likes |

Carmit:Okay bro. Lemme just take some few seconds to enlighten you. Development assessments are focused on four themes which shape the built environment named as place, mobility, technology and urban system. Their are also other indicators that can determine a developed city like population and demography, Economy( talk of GDP, employment,...), stability( talk of terror threat , petty crimes, and overall stability ratings) all those are used to determine a developed city. Now back to skyline where your problem is. In the past, skyscrapers used to be symbols of developed cities, industrialisation and urbanisation. But currently they are also symbols of prestige and technological development. They are not scientifically the 'only' indicator of developed city but can be found in developed city and they can become symbol of development. In 2018 they came up with list of skyscrapers worldwide and South Afriaca, Kenya(minus GTC, parliament tower, CBK,upperhill chamber, hazina, e.t.c which are currently topped out) and TZ were the only representatives of Africa. So you can't say skyscrapers are not indicators of development. About Tec I rest my case, I guess we are at position four just behind Egypt, south Africa and you guys.

Yes considering Tanzania have been unable to nail their gas deal, Ghana is doing well in minning/natural resources sector. It's very likely South Africa will export natural gas before the laggards. Jonraid: 1 Like |

vaxx2: Vaxx, the dangote $12b project is bigger than our octp project. The dangote project consists of a 600,000 barrel refinery,a 3 million capacity urea plant and 1100km subsea pipeline infrastructure capable of handling 3 billion scf of gas per day 2 Likes |

rvp20182:You don't understand. Mozambique opts for floating LNG project which is faster to construct but its too difficult to get proper revenues due to massive underreporting which can e done by companies,as u know floating LNG project are constructed in a deep sea! That is so hard to know how much gas have been drilled in a particular time. Tanzania wants inland LNG facilities. 1 Like |

achimotan:Sure , Dangote refinery investment is much higher but on the gas exploration investment, no country has ever implement such on a large scale in west africa .. As at the time dangote unveiled its plan in 2013 , it was estimated the refinery will cost 9 billion dollar of which dangote pledge to source 3.3 billion dollar on his own and secured the rest thru loans and others.... but time factor and other technological enhancement may have change the current price. the funny thing , it has been postponed till 2021. I agree, it is the best project that has ever come from Nigeria as an oil producing state. |
