Seems good.7 billion isn't a child's sum,what's the status of the project?
The current president already commissioned "the commercial exploration of oil at Cape Three Point in the Western Region. and it is expected that the project will deliver an additional 30,000 barrels per day of oil and 180 million cubic feet (5.07 million cubic metres) per day of gas to Ghana". The oil field is one of the third after the Jubilee and all the TEN oilfields are all in the Western region. They have been two additional oil well discover this year in high quantity.

The gas from the project is expected to help Ghana generate 1,100 MW of additional electricity which probably maybe exported for additional cash since Ghana currently produce over 5000 megawatt. well , industrialization may change the plan.

You mean offshore LNG plant will be outside Tanzania? or what exactly will make it hard to prevent massive underreporting. All you need is to station engineering firm with specialization of monitoring the plant (not stove engineers) and also monitor the ships coming in and out.

Onshore plant may well be good - but that entail building ports and all the works.

In any case this is just the usual laggards taking their sweat time to get anything done.

Kenya that discovered oil in 2012 already sold it first oil. We expect FID soon , LAMU port is ready, all we need is upstream & midstream investment - and we are in business exporting 100-140k barrels a day,.

Kazikazi:
You don't understand. Mozambique opts for floating LNG project which is faster to construct but its too difficult to get proper revenues due to massive underreporting which can e done by companies,as u know floating LNG project are constructed in a deep sea! That is so hard to know how much gas have been drilled in a particular time.
Tanzania wants inland LNG facilities.

Ghana again

Agrictourism.....( One district one factory)

GRAIN processing factory in Volta region

The project has rice mills and silos, all about 90% complete has "massive potential" to meet demands in the country and export.

The project comprised three sub businesses- cultivation, cereal processing and agritourism, with the four metric tonnes per hour rice mill capable of processing about 20,000 metric tonnes of paddy rice per year in a two-shift cycle.

The company also has a 500-acre farm that served as a demonstration farm to support the agro-processing and agritourism sub businesses.

The agritourism business was primarily to draw more Ghanaians, especially the middle class, into farming, as a cool, fun and viable investment option using a crowd farming model.

Under that initiative, the company would develop an Agric estate and encourage people to invest in identifiable farm lots per season just as they would invest in treasury bills, but with the harvests as a return.

The company has 300 out-growers, 1,500 farm hands-on out-grower farms, 10 input workers, 15 factory hands, 100 farmhands, 15 administrative and management officials and 10 sales officers for its "Gogo" rice from the demonstration farm.

Don't trust an engineering firm or any firms to do checks on those multinationals! They are capable of even corrupting the same firm which you have trusted to do supervision. Remember what happen to south Africa's state capture corruption scandals? The same firms which were appointed to do checks were corrupted too.
So Tz LNG project isn't dead.gas companies have spent about 4b on explorations up to now.No company can let that massive investment going to ashes. There are some other things which are pending like how much gas should be used locally. Gas companies wants to export almost everything overseas, while the gov want a good amount to remain for local consumption.Tanzania wants the gas to power local industries.
Don't think some nations which were fast on gas projects have gotten a better deal.No.
If u do a quick look at their gas sector, you will find almost everything is exported, nothing is left for local manufacturers.Just imagine for a country with huge gas reserves, it still uses expensive electricity for industries! Not all quick deals are good deals!

rvp20182:
Yes considering Tanzania have been unable to nail their gas deal, Ghana is doing well in minning/natural resources sector. It's very likely South Africa will export natural gas before the laggards.

You should ask yourself which part of the city is located. that train station is located in rural area of Ghana. why should they spend billions of cedis building cosmetc project. and if you wanted to be bit smart, you will know it is not for urban Ghanaian

next time I will not reply if I realised it is not sensible. UK and Germany has rural rainline and it is just that way... That is UK rural train station below....

If you were smart - you would build the industry first - before making all those irrational demands - while investing nothing. Lindi/Mtwara won't be the last. Once the industry is developed - you can squeeze better deals in the next gas plant. You're not the only country endowed with natural gas - Ghana is already about done - Mozambique adding more - and South Africa could soon - even Kenya has some offshore prospects.

Learn to value time. Time is money.

Industrialization and for the purpose of making dollars . it good when you export more to the neighbouring country, they pay in hard currency.

Yes Mozambique is so much ahead - with so many plans. While Tanzania are stuck at 30B -- Mozambique is aiming for 95B

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. approved a $25 billion liquefied natural gas project in Mozambique that could help transform the economy of one of the world’s poorest countries.

Mozambique has more discovered gas than Tanzania. That 95b investment is due to huge quantity they have, its not anything about smartness
Multinationals companies can start constructing LNG in Tanzania even today as long as u give all the freedom to do what they want!
Mozambique is more corrupt than Tz,so they just give away alot

In GitHub’s latest annual State of the Octoverse report, developers from Africa created 40% more open source repositories on the software engineering marketplace over the past year—a higher growth percentage than any other continent globally. Among African countries with established developer communities (defined by GitHub as having more than 10,000 contributors to the platform), Morocco accounted for the most growth on the continent...
