The best players from the Nigerian team were Orji and Ndifreke. Ndifreke, just based on effort. Orji looked like the only player that could make something happen upfront. Defense struggled in the first half but were better in the second half. The left back looks interesting. Azubuike had an ok game. Not to the level of his hype though. The goalie did well when called into action. Who else? 1 Like |

TheSuperNerd: I wonder ooo. Certainly the latter statement is the case and I am happy that the Players proved them wrong at the end of the day. One wouldn't crucify them for their postures though because such attitude of theirs is usually borne out of their passionate support and desire for the team to succeed actually. Giving by the fact that we were trailing the opposition thus, building up the tension forcing out the critical commentaries we have read so far. And I want to believe that the story would have changed after K. Nwankali had put NIGERIA in front from that wonderful Free kick as well as after AWONIYI got the last minute extention to the scoreline that made it end in a superb 3:1 win over the Zambians Since I haven't read to the latter pages. By the way, Congratulations NIGERIA and to every soccer loving individual out there for the believe, trust and confidence reposed on the Olympic Eagles to bounce back from the Lost against the Ivorians. Looking forward to another 3 maximum points against SOUTH AFRICA come FRIDAY same time of 7:00 pm Nigerian Time that should ensure our qualification to the Semis. Although the other match between ZAMBIA and COTED'IVOIRE shall hold simultaneously at the time too. Enjoy yourselves ladies and gentlemen while I rap up with reading the remainder of the post on the thread already pilled up waiting for my digestion since I always prefer staying glued to the TV until the end of football matches before giving my overall appraisal rather than wailing during the games for things could turn around easily in football making one eats His or Her word at the end. 3 Likes |

You forgot K.Nwakali and Awoniyi ![]() You also forgot to single out Ozornwafor for some praise. The left back Bitok is from one of those obscure leagues you criticised oooo... Now you find a player from there interesting? Hmmm... Interesting too. ![]() tbaba1234: 2 Likes |

TheSuperNerd: I have already said enough about Nwakali. No more to add. I thought the main problem with the defense was organization, particularly in the first half. Ozornwafor was ok. Not necessarily outstanding. Much better in the second half At this kind of level, the likes of Bitok is fine but i want our best players for every competition. 1 Like |

On Nwakali... Just give the lad a break. Even you can see his importance to the team. And yes, the defence didn't play as a unit in the first half especially in those opening minutes. Individual interventions from Ozornwafor and Ndifreke (all the way from his behind-the-striker role) blocked off the likes of Daka and Sakala from doing more damage in that first half. They did improve as the half wore on and really stamped their authority in that second half. In fact, Ozornwafor makes Olisa Ndah's absence seem like nothing. Finally, I want our best players too. I believe even an Alhassan Yusuf of IFK Goteborg ought to have been called up. Their league is over. The others, well, just to select a good number that will take us through without stress before their returns. I believe the coaches got their calculations wrong regarding the number of players they need till the 19th (Day of the Semis and official end of the international break) and those that can still feature beyond the 19th. They went more with a squad that will be available till the end of the U-23 Afcon only allowing room for Zubby to leave after the 19th. I think having Okereke taking Faleye's place, and Ejuke taking Olabiran's place while they return after the 19th would have been okay and will leave us with Okonkwo, Awo and Sunusi going into the final/third place on the 22nd. Anyway, the deed is done. And we just have to stand with the team now. tbaba1234: 1 Like 1 Share |

ChrisKels: I saw mostly the first half. The defense was a bit jittery in the first minutes due to little time to gell and changes made. Olisa Nda and Mukairu were changed for Ozonwafor and Seth. They grew into the game and assumed great confidence. The department was the most improved. The midfielder of Azubike and Nwakali also struggled ,especially , centrally and attack-wise. Azubike was full of battle as usual with his pinpoint crosses, blocks and tackles...the boy is a very confident player that can literally play anywhere in the midfield. Nwakali struggled because of little game time but we must not throw the bad water away with the baby in it. He scored a lovely free kick like he always do and his confidence and vision grew. He started doing his trademark passes and crosses....Nwakali is a bundle of talent and he does it so effortlessly. However, Nwakali is far from fitness and it showed because an inform Nwakali can singlehandedly destroy any team from the midfield position...It comes to him naturally. The attack is sorry...Orji Okonkwo, though, scored yet didn't show signs of a great finisher. As for Awoniyi, he knows he didn't have a great game. 1 Like 1 Share |

I don't know if Awo will leave after the 19th depending on what the Crew discussed with Mainz concerning him. He doesn't really get to play that much for them so I think they can do without him till the 22nd. But Zubby will return to Istanbul BB after the 19th. gamaliel9: 2 Likes |
