Yes, once upon a time, Superman was undisputed in popularity, thanks to the Saturday morning shows; Superman:The Animated Series & Justice League, as well as the Christopher Reeves movies and the Smallville TV show. Batman was also a close second due to the Saturday morning shows and some movies as well. Spiderman wasn't really in competition with these folks until Tobey Maguire's 2000 Spider-Man movie blew his popularity through the roof.

In recent times with video games becoming a bigger medium than they used to be, Spiderman and Batman have well outshone Superman in this decade. Superman has only had one solo movie in 2013, no animated movie or series, no video game while Batman and Spiderman are basically saturating the media with movies, animated movies & shows and bestselling video games.
Superman may still be more popular than new upcomers, Iron Man, The Flash, Arrow and The Hulk but he now trails behind Batman and Spiderman.

One could argue that with 3 Iron Man movies, central roles in The Avengers and Civil War, Iron Man became the flagship Marvel character. Still doesn't mean he can currently touch Spiderman in terms of popularity.
Batman became the flagship character in the 90s, but it wouldn't be until the millennium before the age of The Dark Knight eclipsed the reign of the Superman.

P.S: Interesting fact - Schumacher's 90's Batman movies all but killed the characters box office attraction till Nolan resurrected it in 2005.

Nothing new here, it's basically The gifted series meets the X-Men movie.
Plot was cliché. Nevertheless, it was quite simple & dealt with some modern day issues prevalent in the society, acting & character development were decent, although i wasn't really that impressed with Stephen Amell's AKA Oliver Queen(Arrow) performance.
Special effects were quite ok. I really fancied the technological hardware's the cops fought crime with. All in all, it wasn't great nor outstanding, it was just a decent B-grade flick with few plot holes here & there.
