I guess I'm beginning to wake up to that reality.

Your mistake is associating the existence of a Divine Being with a particular religion.

The Creator of all that exists is not a Christian God, neither is He a Moslem God.

Once you understand that, you will realize that your first and primary duty on earth is to search for the Truth and not loyalty to a particular religion or sect.

Yes there are contradictions in the Bible. But I think this boils down to the interpreters .it's could be human errors. But that's not enough to suggest God does not exist though. I have seen things in this world that convinced me beyond every reasonable doubt that God exist.Years ago when I was sick,I was taken to one herbal Doctor.in the cause of treating me he told me many stories which I believe where true because he had no reason to lie to me.one of the story he told me was his experience when he went to fight spiritual war with a genuine Christian. He said he was a distance from the man's house when he started seeing fire burning on top the man's House, he had to run for his life. But he said he has successfully fought and defeated many Christians too.when I asked why he was able to defeat those ones he simply replied with this profound words."They have spoilt their hands with sin". Sincerely I was dumfounded, why a witch doctor was saying this was beyond my imagination. What I deduced from the story is that God protects with fire, but protects those that does his will and desist from sins.Even my life is a testimony too.I have survive too many attacks that also convinced me of the existence of God.my bro how wish I can see you one on one.
The question now is why would God entrust a book that is meant to bring salvation not just to Christianity, but to mankind into the hands of feeble men who could misinterpret what the book was meant to convey, why wasn’t the book written in a universal language? Why the concentration on only a certain part of the world in the book?

We need to ask ourselves some salient questions, I don’t think a god who wants everyone to be saved and escape eternal damnation would not so much as give a hoot about the instrument of the salvation.

First let me start with you are too intelligent.
Religion is so sad that's why I don't to enlighten people on it again, cos if ur eyes don't open today surely they will open tomorrow..
But I must say it even if it's for the last time...
My people please stop going to church...
U guys are the reason why they are buying private jets....
Forgive my English I don't have time to re read it

I am happy you have come to this knowledge.
Of course, I might delve beyond what you have come to, the Bible has so many things that don't add up. Lots of Christians know this but they have no choice, their mind has become enslaved. Let me share what I have come to:
The truth is whatsoever you believe in works for you, our belief births power, that is so because we are offshoot of God, God lives through us and through God we live. We have been taught to see right and wrong but there is nothing like right or wrong.
They say when we die in sin, we end up burning for all eternity, well that's a lie, no thanks to the Roman Catholic Church, there is nothing like hell, instead there's Reincarnation, we in Africa believed strongly in reincarnation except that now it's just the devil's doing, names like Babatunde ( father is reborn) are significant.

When a child is born blind, the child probably made someone blind in his past life. The Bible can't give you this knowledge because those that know seek to cage our minds with fear.

1.Jesus is the only way to God, John 14:6
This invariably means those who don't believe in Jesus have no business in heaven.
Christians worldwide have an estimated population of 2.4billion people
Islam records an estimate of 1.9 billion adherents, Hindu has an estimated 1.1bn adherents. The remaining world's population have their own beliefs which includes atheism.
If Jesus is the only way to God, what happens to those who don't believe in him? Hell? Well, the Bible suggests so.

2. There are a lot of complications and contradictory remarks in the Bible- a verse says don't drink, another says "Drink for your stomach sake", or "Do not drink wherein excess."
Malachi 3:10 a famous Bible verse on tithing speaks about bringing your tithe to the storehouse (church, maybe)
Deuteronomy 14:22-26 says otherwise, it says "you should drink and be merry with your tithe". I'm seriously beginning to doubt the credibility of the Bible. Maybe the translators' fault or God told writers different stories on the same issue. Read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John's account of Jesus and see real contradictions.

3. Does God answer prayers? Well, I'm not really sure about that. Someone might be suffering from malaria, the person takes drugs and still prays, the drugs work, but the person thanks God. Or a successful surgical operation, instead of thanking the doctor, they thank God. Some illnesses that would have been treated led to deaths because a certain congregation who were supposed to take the ill persons to the hospital, circled around praying. Faith without work isn't it still dead?
I remember when I had stomach ulcer, it was really terrible, I prayed and made several promises to God that if He took away the ulcer, I'd drink no more alcohol and will be more devout in worshipping Him. That didn't solve anything though, I stopped drinking and took to taking my drugs more seriously. Weeks later, I was well. I returned to drinking and after a few months, the ulcer resurfaced. That was when I realized I really needed to quit drinking. Prayers wouldn't have solved that issue.
I spent 80% of 2019 at home because of my misgivings about God's existence.
I really wish I could be convinced about God's existence because I'm not even happy to be away from Church because of the views of friends and family.

4. Children of God, or so called children of God tend to suffer more tribulations, hard times and desperate moments, a lot of them scream "Vanity upon Vanity" when secular people live in luxury or spend extravagantly. God tends to turn his back on those who worship Him especially when they need Him most.
The 1933 Holocaust and mass murder of Jews to the tone of 6m was a clear indication that God turns His eyes against His people
Repulsive comments are highly welcome

"Your question is the most difficult in the world. It is not a question I can answer simply with yes or no. I am not an Atheist. I do not know if I can define myself as a Pantheist. The problem involved is too vast for our limited minds.

May I not reply with a parable? The human mind, no matter how highly trained, cannot grasp the universe. We are in the position of a little child, entering a huge library whose walls are covered to the ceiling with books in many different tongues. The child knows that someone must have written those books. It does not know who or how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. The child notes a definite plan in the arrangement of the books, a mysterious order, which it does not comprehend, but only dimly suspects. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of the human mind, even the greatest and most cultured, toward God.

We see a universe marvelously arranged, obeying certain laws, but we understand the laws only dimly. Our limited minds cannot grasp the mysterious force that sways the constellations. I am fascinated by Spinoza's Pantheism. I admire even more his contributions to modern thought. Spinoza is the greatest of modern philosophers, because he is the first philosopher who deals with the soul and the body as one, not as two separate things."

What makes you believe that studying the Qur'an is a waste of time? It isn't the same as the Bible you know... Most Muslims aren't facing the challenges you listed in your opening post because:

1) It doesn't make sense that eternal life is dependent on some god-man, who never claimed deity btw.

2) there's no contradiction or inconsistencies in the Qur'an if you read it carefully.

1. It makes perfect sense. What doesnt make sense is that somebodys sins are never atoned or paid for, anywhere, when God is supposed to be totally just.

2. Just because the Qur'an (supposedly) doesnt have contradictions, it doesnt make it true. Even most works of fiction need to be free of contradiction before they can be published, so that they will make sense to humans and fulfil human expectation.

The Bible is not trying to fit into human expectation because it is a divine work and human capacity to understand things of the spirit is limited. It only seeks to let the truth be known.

The op is just a canal man like every one of us. Does his father not warned him never take wines
or hard drinks when he was a child and when he gets older ,doesn't his father pour him little wine
to drink with him and yet he is still his same father!!.. Op,please try this little experience:
Try to take a long flight especially the intercontinental ones or join a ship and sail out from
Nigeria, perhaps from Lagos to Gabon. Try and sit nearer to the windows. After those experiences you
feel and believe more in God. The problem of Nigerians is that we don't know the limit of miracles.
God gave us herbs for a reason and when we are sick instead using the herbs-medicines, we pray!!..

Several times I have myself had to reconsider my belief about God. But then the next minute something happens and you feel this is beyond the natural or physical. But one thing is sure, there is God, the wayshe and thoughts of whom are higher than the ways of the most learned men.

Man, I share your view too.

But again, how do we human being and all other creation come into existence?. This is one other question that will make us want to believe in the existence of God.

A critical look at the creation of the world and all the inhabitants shows a very high level of planning and organization. Someone must be responsible for all these.

In my own opinion, I see religion as a tool to control human conduct and character.

But some have been using it for selfish economic and political benefits.

I always insist that every religion has their fault which can be considered as wrong teachings.

Humanity supercede any so called religion.

Religion is an enslavement of the mind (You won't be able to think outside your religious teachings and beliefs). That is why a particular religion command its followers to kill anyone that refuse to accept and practice its own teachings and the believers accept such awful teaching (Because their mind had been enslaved to see nothing bad in it).

Though we appreciate the one we met ourselves in, making use of the teachings to shape our lives and people around us for good.

But sometimes, I imagine if there was no religion, people will do things they like which might actually be more dangerous for human existence.

But humanity supercede all. That was why Jesus Christ said "Do unto others, what you will also like them to do unto you".

I THINK "HUMANITY" SHOULD BE THE NAME OF THE NEXT RELIGION WE ARE CREATING NOW.
Facts...
Humanity is already a religion to others.

But I must say this last truth..
God is not dead... Rather he doesn't involve himself with the matters of man any longer, which I don't know why...
But surely if you work for good you shall see good and vice-versa.
Don't forget to pick up your sword and rescue yourself cos 10000 shall fall by your left and right is a lie...

When a man has made up his mind on an issue, he doesn't need advice at all . What you are looking for here is to draw others along with you who you think have same mind with you. Yeah, you will definitely see people that have same mind with you. This is a clear indication that you have not received the Holy Sprit, so you are just confused and looking for those who as confused as you are.For sure, your types are many. One thing, you should understand is that even if the whole world should stop worshiping God, He's forever God. He can't be dethroned. You need to know Him with the Help of the Holy Spirit. He does not need to know you . The responsibility is yours. He had seen the birth and death of billions of men and women , yet He's still God and doesn't brag about his greatness. He had seen historians writting history upon histories, but He was there when everything started.
You're walking in confusion consistently and justifying it . I pray that the Lord will enlighten your spirit of understanding that you may know him for yourself. He has said He's the way the truth and the life , no man cometh unto the Father but by Him. God has exclaimed to the whole world, " This is my only begotten son, in whom I am well pleased. There's no salvation in any other name other than the name of Jesus whereby you must be saved". The acceptance of wrongs by billions of people does no make it right . It does not really matter how many people are in those religions. What matters is what God has said in respect to salvation. I feel so bad that you have never experienced Jesus for yourself. No wonder many walk in confusion about the scriptures, they study so much , yet no understanding. What a life !! You need the Holy Spirit
Do you have the holy spirit because what you wrote is a clear indication that you dont even know the god you claim to worship

The assumption that the bible is an authority on God is your No.1 problem. The bible is a European conceptualization of God but God itself has nothing to do with that.

Before you begin your journey to undersranding God, you must first shed yourself of the misconception of the bible or any other so called holy book as an authority on God. Believe it or not, you're already subconsciously doing so. And once you've completed the process, you'll eventually discover God on your own. You'll eventually realize that God is not and cannot be in any book or religion.

God has nothing to do with religion!!.
Facts well submitted. @Last paragraph

Which language would you regard as universal language? If it written in French and English man can't understand, verse versa .As for why God would allow feeble men to do the interpretation is what I have no answer to.There are many question that really have no answer. For example, why would God create satan when he already knew what satan is capable off?how come are we told God that sees and knows everything even before they happen didn't know Adam and Eve were going to disobey him?The truth is there are many questions that are begging for answers. But if we continue asking this questions we may gradually shift away from God,so its better therefore to just assume God knows what he's doing.

Hello.

I believe it depends on the scientist. Not all scientists agree that we have been here for 250 000 years. Some believe we have been here longer and others believe that we have been here for a much shorter time.

Nonetheless, the question will always be why anyone believes what they believe. I consider the Bible to be the only truly reliable authority on earth about anything really, so what it says is what I stand on. I am happy to use science and technology as far as it is reasonable to do so, but I don't find it always reasonable to rely on them.

HOUSEHOLD because those people were themselves A CHURCH at the time. The entire Children of Israel we're God's people and at the time didn't really have buildings where they visited to worship hence the term "place". It got to a time it was called " Zion", the church of the First Born (ie Jesus).its what we call "Churches" these days. And there are still prophecies about the terms "Place", " Household", "House", " Zion", "Church" that is being fulfilled now. "And I will dwell in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, FOREVER (Psalm 23)". Nowadays, we're beginning to see churches build cities like the redemption camp, winners canaancity where people school, work, DWELL and of course WORSHIP GOD.

I suggest you should turn to modern science to aid you sieve through the substance in religion. When I mean science I don’t mean the almost obsolete Descatian/Newtonian model that is still being thought in our schools. I mean look to modern discoveries in science and you will find God. You will find that mainstream science have found God. It will help you find meaning.
I will suggest you stick to your religion. There’s more substance than not there. You only need to train your mind to see the substance not the mainstream as it is now. Just like every other sphere of life. Take for instance the Descatian/Newtonian model of the story of human origin it’s completely debunked. It has been for decades yet it’s still mainstream; still taught in our schools same with almost every religion.
It’s like the evolution of wireless communication it evolved to what it is today because that field allows and welcomes innovation but religion most times prohibits it.
It’s yours to find deep truth. Don’t throwaway what you got and muddle in shark infested water of the unknown. Most atheists scientists have found God. Do same. Dive deep not from what your pastor who is mainstream teaches. Some of them know more than they can publicly acknowledge.
There’s a reason in your purpose of being here why you were born a christian in the first place. Your questions maybe the divine in you seeking to point you deeper.
Every religion is like a class/ level in school.
If you have grown bigger than class one seek promotion to class two don’t drop out altogether
Just an advice.
If you need me to point you to the scientific materials you can inbox me.

At this point, I cant see why I should trust anything you say.

You are still not getting the point. That the "Fall of the first humans" is seen as a metaphor by some people doesnt negate the fact that human beings are inherently evil. So what is your solution to that evil

How do we atone for the billions of sins that are being committed right now?
