New face of Amawbia roundabout

Below is what the new roundabout stands for..

Behold standing at the "Amawbia Roundabout" is A Beacon to Guide All. It is a tower - a prop for a light show that will shine, glow and beam the Light of the Nation; the Bell will gong at determined intervals to awaken the Anambra Sprit; the base commemorates the Eke [Ego] Oyibo, reference to the significance of the neighborhood market known for the exchange of Ego Ayara to Ego Igwe (Ego Oyibo).

The structure also serves as part of the implication of His Excellency's desire to dot the landscape of Anambra State with memorable monuments.

Fivestar Golden Tulip Agulu Lake Resort Anambra. My cousins came back from Canada for holidays but by the time we got to Golden Tulip Agulu Lake it was already booked completely despite the fact that it is a very pricey hotel resort, though it's worth it. We got lucky that someone was checking out that evening, that was how we got in. This is same story across Anambra particularly in Awka where almost all the hotels were fully booked by holiday makers.

I always felt the hotel was a bit small...considering it would be one of the best in the state and wouldn’t lack for customers! They need to commence construction on a even better and larger capacity annex ASAP, as time is money! Ceasers Palace on the Las Vegas strip started of small like this, but had to build a even bigger and grander annex when their business improved!

If the airport is actually delivered by the end of the Obiano admin’, it should be expected demand for hotel accommodation in the state would shoot through the roof as even more diaspora, tourists, entrepreneurs and workers/contractors troop into the state en-masse!

Good point. There are also a lot of lands to build a bigger structure, develop the area and build some beautiful mansions. That vicinity has beautiful scenery

I totally agree with you that Obiano treats Nnewi like a town outside of Anambra state.

Basic things as intra-city roads in the city need to be tarred.

Town planning agencies should go around downtown areas and markets to ensure that no commercial building is extended to reach the gutters. Else the part of the building extended to the gutter should be demolished.

You cannot shriek your responsibility as a government that collects taxes from the area and turn around to blame the crazy landlords building all sorts of illegal extensions to their building.

To begin with, Nnewi deserves a real urban renewal drive whereby all internal roads in the city are resurfaced and tarred with side by side gutters on every road.

One thing that often make Igbos appear backward or primitive is that we fail to do things decently especially how our cities look. Our cities are replete with beautiful houses but the entire place as a whole often seem like a sh*t hole. We must change this mindset so that our people can begin to find our cities as decent places to invest and live.

A city like Nnewi that has a lot of industries and businesses should be made to look decent and appealing for external investors to find the place appealing. Not to leave it always to the indigenes of the place like the rogue military administrators of Anambra state did in the past. We are now in an era where we should build and develop our cities to look decent and stop making excuses about the government ineptitude.

YOU are contributing to that ''shitholeness'' by your suggestions for primitive open gutters ''side by side'' on every road, or whatever you said.

When will you Nigerian Morons understand that open gutters and roads without sidewalks are PRIMITIVE AND UNACCEPTABLE ANYWHERE ON EARTH?

This is a poor neighbourhood in Kigali, Rwanda:

Do you see any open gutter ''side by side'' on any road there?

Do you see any street without pedestrian sidewalks?

Do you see any sand on the roads?

RWANDA still recovering from genocide and civil war KNOWS how to build roads and streets but Anambra State does not?

What is the point of your education and exposure, including that of your governors, if you still think it is ok to build primitive nonsense with stinking open gutters and no pedestrian access apart from sand and dirt?

TUFIA.

Do you know how many people visit Las Vegas? 42 million. How many visit Anambra State every year? 200,000 million diaspora? Obiano and friends should work on things that will bring people to the state otherwise an airport when Enugu Enugu International Airport is less than 100 km away and Asaba 10km away is a white elephant.

This is what will bring people to the state:

1) Conference Center. If it holds 5 events bringing in 3,000 people and 20 medium sized events bringing in 1,000 people and 30 events bringing in 500 people that is 50,000 people visiting the state per year. If each of those people spends at least 50,000 naira in the state that is a cash injection of 2.5 billion.

2) Large Industries. Hero alone contributes billions to the Anambra economy via all the people coming to buy beer from them and all the people it employs. If the Anambra State government attracted more large industries to site in the state then more people would be visiting for business.

3) Attractive Markets. Onitsha with its over 12 markets should be cornering the market for people buying goods from the South-East, South-South and parts of the South-West. However, contrast the experience of millions that go to buy in Dubai to those that go to buy in Onitsha. Onitsha markets are extremely primitive and difficult to deal with. This is where the state government should help overhaul the infrastructure of those markets. Do they have easy to use parking facilities, conveniences (food, toilet), banking, transport? Imagine if over 1 million people from outside the state would be attracted to buy from any one of Onitsha's markets. Thats how you grow your GDP.

Rwanda has law and order. Anambra cities are full of wild animals called keke drivers, barrow hawkers, corrupt police people. How come Rwandese are not dying of hunger because they are not constituting a nuisance in Kigali like poor Nigerians? The few states in Nigeria that made that effort benefited. Contrast Lagos and its chaos pre-Fashola to what happened when he kicked all the degenerates from under bridges and from the sides of roads and cleaned the place up? The investment in Lagos exploded. Why are people running away from Aba? Filth and chaos.

In Anambra the number of Keke in the cities causing chaos is alarming because the state doesnt license a limited number. The people selling in wheelbarrows in high traffic roads has exploded the minute they saw Obiano would do anything to them or that government agents can be bribed. How come such does not happen in Lagos with its teeming millions? Its in Anambra you find mama puts selling egusi and other soups without a single water or sewage connection. All the dirty water and pure water sachets goes into the gutter after they collect money from the customer. In Anambra you find landlords collecting hundreds of thousands of naira from loads of tenantes without providing water connections or septic tanks. In Anambra you see markets operating like from the 16th century generating billions built haphazardly without decent supporting infrastructure like parking, water, waste management, security or toilet conveniences causing nuisance.

The lesson, Anambra should fix its cities, provide infrastructure, clean them up and get all the lawless degenerates out if they want to attract private investment and for the state economy to boom.

You should stop visiting this thread with your lies. Last time it was a case of fenced building, today it is a case of airport.

For goodness sake why are you lots from there jittery that Obiano is building an airport?

If the government of Obiano feels that airport is needed in his state let him build it reduce the stress of travelling to Enugu or Imo to board a flight.

If you can't bear the sight of him doing so, close your eyes and ears whenever it is mentioned.

As for centres for conference, learnt he is doing that so what's your matter?

Every time when I visited anambra I saw and I saw that....same anambra dey build airport you are here ranting up and down.

Oga stay in your state and stop visiting. You not needed.

YES. Because you people are THICK, COMPLACENT, and THOUGHTLESS.

Why is it that all of you accept the building of roads with no pedestrian access and open gutters. You travel abroad everyday to the US, UK, China, Germany etc? Do you ever see ONE street in those places built without pavements and covered drains? Yet you come back here and demand govt builds your streets with ''open gutter side by side'' as that other oaf suggested.

Get this, dummy. OPEN GUTTERS ARE UNHYGIENIC AND PRIMITIVE. Building street roads without pedestrian sidewalks is UNHYGIENIC, IGNORANT AND PRIMITIVE. It is not done ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.

It is not a 'luxury' to build sidewalks. it is a RIGHT of pedestrians. Road infrastructure is meant to serve drivers AS WELL AS pedestrians, who also pay taxes. You MUST have DESIGNATED and OFFICIAL spaces for them to walk. There is NOTHING DIFFICULT about implementing these policies. All that stops it is IGNORANCE and BONE HEADEDNESS among supposedly educated and exposed people.
