his purple patch Is over? Are you serious? Purple patch that carried him from Chaleroi last season and continued this season in Lille?

If only people could be slapped via the internet, you deserve a resounding slap for this bile-filled rubbish you said. Nonsense and bitter leaf
Goan sit down...
Your opinion would have been valid if there were no competitor...
Hakimi and even Chikwueze are more qualified to win

This is an absolute assault on the beautiful memory that was Afcon 2013. So Sunday Mbah was better and more influential than Mikel in that tournament?? because of what?? A goal against Burkinafaso and against CIV??

Nothing wey Chukwuma no go see for Alaba international Market... Chaaiiii

Mbah.... Better than Mikel at Afcon 2013?? Sacrilege!
Sunday Mbah's performance and goals proved decisive in the out come of that tournament. If that's not influential enough for you it's ok. There's no compulsion to what you want to believe.

Chisos. Mikel was practically our best against CIV in that quarter finals game. He put up a show amd performance worthy of legendary mention. That was one of Mikel's best and finest games in an Eagles shirt hands down. Against Zambia, he was also very splendid even though he missed a penalty. He created everything we feasted on. Also got the sweet assist for Emenike's goal.

Against Mali... Mikel was again magical. That final pass into Musa's path for the fourth goal summed up Mikel's awesomeness in that game. Please if you don't remember Afcon 2013 so vividly but only remember the goals, then I suggest you do yourself a favor and buy that CD/DVD. E go dey for market. Go find am!

Thank you!

how many motm performance did Mikel put in that tournament?

Another Idiotic comment. So because you lack the ability to watch games now means the rest of us are as unfortunate as you are abi. grin Nonsense and Kendrick! Lol

Lille matches that I have seen this season since the first day Osimhen slaughtered Nantes with his first two Ligue 1 goals taken with awesome aplomb. The first a huge kick clearance by Fonte from his side's defensive half over the entire Nantes Midfield and defence that landed gracefully onto the running bulldozing chest of Victor which he brought down with skill and technicality and powered away in a run beating two nantes defenders beforr slotting past Alban Lafont in goal.

The second a huge firecracker of a goal that literally shook the roof of the nantes net and sent the Lille fans into crazy raptures. These are scenes I saw live and impossible to get from Livescores.

Sorry bro, you are not making any sense at all.
You will a make a good commentator I will give you that.....
But it's easy to have seen all this highlights on YouTube

Rubbish talk again. Sideways passes that found Emenike thrice for his goals... Sideways passes that found Musa for that final goal against Mali. Sideways passes you say??

When we had our biggest crunch time vs Tournament favorites and huge dogs, CIV... Mikel stood up and walked tall. He was a god in that Midfield that day. You even need reminding of that game?

Chaaaiiii.... You obviously suffering Amnesia. Lol

kendrick93:
metronome indeed....playing sideways passes....
Emenike and Moses were more instrumental, Fact....
When the crunch time came, you would have banked on those two to deliver, even enyeama has a claim to have been more influential than Mikel in that tourney...

What do you call nonsense? Nigeria's midfield was redundant durring the group stages of the that tournament with Mikel. Everybody wrote the team off until Keshi introduced Mbah against Ivory coast. It wasn't coincidence the teams played their best football of the tournament with Mbah capping a great display with a goal.
Same thing happened until the finals. Mbah brought life into that team with your Mikel.

We won that Afcon inspite of Mikel, not because of Mikel. That trophy landed in Lagos because of Mbah not despite Mbah. You're trying to tell me about influence like Mikel had any goals or assists in the tournament. Mtchew

CAF will always be CAF. Metronome he was and the fact remains. I guess Sneijder too was no star in 2010 since he didn't win the world best after doing more than everyone else in football that year Winning the UCL, the Serie A, the Coppa Italia and making the World cup final. Highly influential in all of these yet they gave it to Messi.... I guess too Sneijder was no metronome that year. Players are robbed no thanks to silly politics and Afcon 2013 was no difference. But ofcos that is lost on you. Lol

Nigeria's midfield redundant Are you just hell bent on continuing typing rubbish? Nigeria was struggling in attack. Mikel held things thick in that middle. Against Burkina Faso, Mikel was at the center of everything good and his fine creative long pass into the box to ideye led to that Emenike goal. The defence slept off at the last minute and Burkina Faso got an equaliser. Was that Mikel's fault?? Where was Enyeama and his defence?

Against Zambia... Mikel again stood tall and gave the Zambians a game in midfield with Onazi even playing RB that day. Mikel again found Emenike with a defence splitting pass that Emenike easily tapped in. The midfield doing its job through Mikel again. Redundant you say?? What of all the chances Emenike and Ideye also squandered after fine work by the Mikel led midfield offensive? Redundant indeed... Rubbish!

Against CIV, MBA came in for Nosa Igiebor who clearly wasn't helping Mikel with the creative bird and it even brought out more of the best of Mikel as seen in how he marshalled our plays from the middle that day. He set up the first goal for Emenike that day simply rolling the freekick into Emenike's path to shoot in.

He bossed Yaya Toure and his midfield lieutenants ball for ball, grit for grit, skills for skills... He even contributed Defensively with a last gasp tackle/interception to deny Lacina Traore from tapping in for 2-2.

Mikel was simply unplayable that day.

We won the Afcon down to Mikel's huge influence. No way Nigeria would have conquered Africa without him in the middle. Absolutely no way. So all you say is still rubbish.

Two things in football. Either you're creating a goal or you're stopping a goal. How many goals did Mikel create or score at that particular tournament playing as the attacking midfielder as the most "influential"?
You're yarning okpaks probably thinking football is a popularity contest.

He also created the goal for Ahmed Musa in the Semi finals.... Damn! You are really ignorant of what happened at afcon 2013. You didn't watch those games... Those games watched you! grin grin

It is very clear Mikel was robbed out of being the best player and most influential star at Afcon 2013. But because we are so used to eating Nonsense served from CAF towards us anytime Nigeria is involved, some of you don't even bother to think and ask if it is right.

Same CAF that will award the best player award to a player from the winning team decided to rob Nigeria and Mikel of such honor and pride in 2013.

In 2019, please tell me how many goals and assists Bennacer had to win the Best player of the Afcon. He scored no goals... But had 3 assists... Mikel had more assists than him and in less games sef. Yet Bennacer was crowned Africa's best at that tournament not so? Why not award Mane then who scored more, assisted and even reached the final for Senegal. No sense fell on them and they picked a player from thw Winning team.

CAF has always picked a player from the winning team for player of the tournament, so it was clearly Robbery to have ignored Mikel and compensated us with Mikel in the team of the tournament and giving Moses the pepsi award.

Abeg... CAF will always be CAF. No be today the robbery start.

I don't know what anyone thinks but I have always had this notion that CAF awards usually favour Franco-Phone countries more. Most probably because they are more in number.

Osimhem wasn't even a regular at the Afcon while Hakimi has a first team spot in the morrocan NT

The French ligue has been on break dude. Should he score at home? He possibly has done that but we wouldn't know yet.

How has Hakimi been putting in MOTM performances in the champions league? The only reason Dortmund still are in the UCL is because of Sancho, I watched their two legs against Inter and against Barcelona and dude wasn't really a prime Marcelo, not by any stretch of the imagination, he is good but definitely not this world beater y'all are talking about else he would be a starter in Madrid and not Dortmund

When I said Tammy is playing at a higher level than Osimhen, some of you did not understand me. Awards will always come down to the popularity of the players contesting especially when there is no clear cut distinction in the performance of the players going for the award.
No one will pick Osimhen playing in Lille over Hakimi in Dortmund, especially when Hakimi is also putting up top performance.
Time will sort out everything, Osimhen's time will come.

This is gross miss representation of facts. Emenike scored 2 free kick goals at the Afcon. One against Ivory coast and the other against Mali in the semi finals. While Ideye assisted his goal against Burkina Faso in the 1-1 first round draw with a sumptuous back heel.

Your phantom theory that Mikel assisted 4 of his 5 goals already looks nonsensical at just a glance. Get your head out of your ass man.

People will always complain of CAF, FIFA or UEFA awards. It's a rarity an award will be accepted by everyone. The last time Nigeria won the African player of the year award in 2000 by KANU, it was unmerited because Osei Kuffor was one of the best midfielders in the world at the time, winning champions leagues and German titles with Bayern Munich while KANU was a bench warmer at Arsenal.
Yet, Kanu won but I'm sure no Nigerian complained about it. Even when Ikpeba won the award, so many people believed Taribo who came 3rd was more deserving. When these things favour you, celebration is allowed, when it does not simply move on because sometime in the past, it favored you ahead of a more deserving winner.
