By the way , you are not better than the Yoruba...to non Nigerians you are all the same. This thread is becoming nauseating

This is a sick and disgraceful suggestion. Within Igbo there is discrimination....in the 80s Anambra parents frown at their children marrying particularly from Imo. Fix your home , firstly

Let’s assume that what you said is true, how does it apply to today in 2020? I have been to so many weddings and have seen igbo men and women marry from all parts of Igboland.

How does your comment even make any sense?

What is your agenda?

Ok defender of the Yorubas. Please tell the people you are defending to stick to their women. Maybe they may be your people... who knows after all anyone can claim anything on Nairaland.

You can’t hate igbo men but come to marry igbo women. Tell them to have a little dignity for themselves.

Pure truth but today the story is a little bit different.

I specifically sought out an Anambra girl and married her because I don't want to hear any foreign dialect in my household

The statement is a fact but quite funny.

I'm more inclined to include Cross River Igbos before other groups, many of them have always been vocal about their Igboness as boundary adjustments put them in a non-Igbo majority state.

The State contains several Igbo villages and is home to an annual cultural festival.

Former Governor of that state is one of these Igbo subgroups.

Agbo/Legbo are not Igboid, let alone Igbo. They are Ekoid people.

A little bit different? Really Meles? There is nothing I won’t see on this forum. Chaii. Your multiple accounts are entertaining sometimes. grin

In my personal opinion, it's good for Igbo from anywhere within the SE to mix up, it brings about a greater sense of unity.

You mean something that has been happening even before colonial times. In fact the civil war igbos fought together led to the most inter-clan marriage in igbo history. People running from one village to another were forced to meet each other at survive together.

After the war so many taboos with inter-clan marriage was broken down and has continued to weaken since then.

This is an Igbo forum I rightly belong and will always say the truth....Okenye ada ano n'uno, ehu amuo na ogbu.....thats to say Okwu ahu okenye n'aso anya....onye ya ekwu ya...

Let's always put issues in their right perspective.

The name should be turned down. Someone that Identifies himself as Delta or Niger delta and has never identified as Igbo even Igbo functions automatically now takes place of SE because of one name.

Godwin Emefiele has never identified as Igbo and will outrightly deny that now wants to play ostrich and wiseness.

The appointment is purely against SE interest and should be condemned.

Was it categorically stated that he is representing the south-east? If so....and he’s never identified with Ndigbo -like say Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Pat Utomi have- then he needs to be rejected by the region! It’s time to play hardball!

WE AS A MATTER OF URGENCY NEED A MEDIA WING WITH WHICH WE COMMUNICATE WITH OUR PEOPLE AND THE WORLD.

FORGET NIGERIA.

THIS IS WAT IPOB REALIZE, THAT THE MAIN PEOPLE THAT WE NEED TO COMMUNICATE WITH ARE OUR PEOPLE AND THE WORLD.

WE NEED A MEDIA WING THAT DOES JUST DAT.

This is rather funny. Some of our dialects can be interesting to the ears to say the least.

Even with that, Igbo are still marrying from different states within the SE. Especially once they go abroad, at that point Igbo is Igbo.

Igbo bu Igbo.

I am only against marriage eroding our cultures.

DIS IS Y DEY DENY IGBO FOR THE REWARD.

I AM NOT EVEN TALKING ABOUT IGBO.

HOW CAN GOV AND DEPUTY BE FROM THE SAME STATE AND CLAN IN NIGERIA, AS DIVERSE AS WE ARE AS A PEOPLE?

THAT IS SICK.

IT IS DONE LIKE DAT BECOS THE NORTH ARE TRYING TO START MONOPOLISING CERTAIN SECTOR SUCH AS NNPC BY APPOINTING DEMSELVES PRINCIPAL AND DEPUTY.

IF THIS CONTINUES UNOPPOSED, THE NORTH WILL ONE DAY TRY TO BE PRESIDENT AND VP TOGETHER OR MUSLIM MUSLIM TICKET.

NIGERIA SHOULD SET PRINCIPLES AND FOLLOW THEM REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IT BENEFITS YOUR TRIBE, BECOS ONE DAY IT WONT.

THIS IS THE MOST NONSENSE THAT I HAVE HEARD IN MY LIFE.

MY DAD IS FROM ANAMBRA AND MY MOTHER FROM IMO.

HER SISTER IS ALSO MARRIED IN ANAMBRA.

MY DAD OLDER BROTHER ALSO MARRIED FROM IMO STATE.

ALL THE WOMEN CAME FROM THE OWERRI CLAN AXIS.

ONE THING PECULIAR ABOUT IMO WOMEN IS THEIR LOVE OF FOOD.

THEY CAN COOK UP A STORM OF VARIETY OF DISHES. NEVER A DULL MOMENT IN DAT DEPARTMENT.

U SEE COCOCANDY? SHE IS A TYPICAL OWERRI GIRL.

Voicing your displeasure at the events of Igbo girls marrying Yoruba men sort of portray you as a weakling. Like you couldn't compete with them and now you are being a sore loser. We have more important and desperate needs that needs our attention. Meanwhile , the percentage of Igbo girls married to Yoruba men is not even up to a tenth of 1% of Igbo women. You shouldn't lose sleep over that.

Moreover, most of those Igbo girls married to Yoruba men are rotten eggs...mostly gold diggers who can bed anything. Didn't an Onicha woman who was vastly educated settled for an Atiku Abubakar and became his 3rd wife just because of money....these women have no shame.

I agree, Igbo within the SE have the green light to marry, depending on the person, you may feel different.

But, one thing we can all agree on is that our women are stunning, and make quality wives.

MY DAD MET MY MUM IN LAGOS.

HIS BROTHER MET HIS WIFE IN THE EAST.

IT IS EVEN MORE EASY TO MARRY FROM ACROSS STATE LINE IN THE CITES LIKE LAGOS OR ABUJA, EVEN KANO.
