I honestly commend Sanwo for his doggedness.

A mega city like Lagos should not allow okada to deface the beauty of the city. Its painful at the beginning but everyone will be happy soon.

Abuja banned okada and keke heavens did not fall. Look Abuja is now cleaner.
Yola banned okada
Borno banned okada
Kano banned okada
the list of states banning okada continues. Its good for our safety and beauty of our major cities

There are other places they can operate in the surburbs but not in the city center.

I understand that a small percent pay income taxes directly to the gov't. However, 100% of the population do rent/own, eat, drink, move around, buy goods and services, and ultimately add value to the many enterprises that abound in Lagos. That economic activity is what makes Lagos great.

I'm not disputing that New York and Tokyo are not for the poor, but these cities also have services and spaces to cater for the working class. You've heard about soup kitchens, hostels for homeless, free showers in public places, etc? All the shoe-shiners, porters, taxi drivers, cooks, busboys, etc (people that socioeconomically match okada riders in Lagos) - they're not exactly rich, but a lot of them also live in New York.

Even if there are no Okada, all the people complaining about not being able to get to work... what good has the ban done for them?

Ultimately, what I was saying is that governments with vision make a city livable for all. Lagos however is systematically becoming a city for only the wealthy, where the working class has to live in another state.

Laws have been made to regulate the activities of these okadas on major roads, yet they grow like cancer. I know how they behave along BRT corridor from OJOTA towards ikorodu.

I agree this move is too harsh but I don't see any other alternative. All previous partial banning have a way of diffusing into lawlessness. Lagos is slowly turning into a ghetto if you are a keen observer.

Yes, we must survive but not like maggots in septic tank. I use Okada a lot but I will not overlook their excesses.
I hope there is a way out soon, and if there is none within Lagos, there will definitely be one out of Lagos.

I think you are right..... maybe am just overreacting....... both of my parents are about to quit their respective jobs because of the increased transportation costs....for them, their jobs are no longer profitable. The ban simply made matters worse.....i am currently not in the best financial state to carry their financial burden, so when somebody makes stupid remarks it hurts even more.....the truth is that this policy was not well thought out....nobody can convince me otherwise.... scatterbrained policies everywhere
