OPERATION RATTLE SNAKE 3: NAF SUSTAINS ONSLAUGHT ON TERRORIST LOCATIONS AS IT NEUTRALIZES SOME KEY BOKO HARAM LEADERS, OBLITERATES THEIR HIDEOUT AT ALAFA YAGAYAGA IN BORNO STATE The sustained onslaught against terrorist locations in the Northeast by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) under the auspices of Operation RATTLE SNAKE 3 has recorded another major success with the neutralization of some key Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) leaders at Alafa Yagayaga on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State. This was achieved on 8 February 2020 when fighter jets dispatched by the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE obliterated a compound in the settlement where the leaders had assembled for a meeting. The air strike was executed on the heels of credible intelligence reports indicating that the BHT leaders had converged at the target compound for a meeting over the weekend. Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which confirmed the meeting venue, also observed several BHTs in and around other buildings in the vicinity of the compound. Bombs from the detailed attack aircraft scored accurate hits on the target leading to the obliteration of the compound and surrounding structures as well as the neutralization of their BHT occupants. The NAF, operating in concert with surface forces, will sustain its air campaign to shape the battlespace in the Northeast for the effective conduct of further ground and air operations. The Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD) Maj. Gen. Olusegun Adeniyi, says the Boko Haram insurgents will never get hold of any part of Nigeria again. Adeniyi stated this while reviewing progress of the ongoing counter insurgency operation of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the northeast on Friday in Maiduguri. He said the military had succeeded in reducing the sect from the terrorist army they used to be, to mere criminals because of the defeat they suffered since 2015. The commander dismissed the insurgents’ attempt to retake any territory “as dream that will never come to pass for them”. According to him, Boko Haram had in 2013 transmuted from a terrorist group to a terrorist army sustaining intense attacks on towns, villages, communities, markets and military bases. Maj. He reiterated that the military would continue to fight to ensure that ISIS did not have a foothold in the region like they succeeded in other countries. The commander noted the adoption of ‘Super Camp’ strategy had further compounded the problem of the insurgents, adding that the strategy had enabled the troops to have longer reach. If i were in charge of the military, i would have created another terrorist faction, except this one would comprise of soldiers. Stage fake terror attacks etc, and before you know it, they might get an offer to merge with BH or the other terror group in the region, and after a while, they will know everything there is to know about these terrorists and the whereabouts of their leaders. Won't necessarily yield that result the next day, but in the long run, they might get results Okay so this idea just came to me lol, haven't thought it thru yet. don't kill me. 1 Like |

Odunayaw: I posted info on somewhat similar ops done back home in the late 80s to 90s Men trained as terrorists going into enemy territories totally blind , stay there for months if needed and do what they have to do and come back if they can. Very successful . Still classified. Such ops need only leadership , no need of command chain / resources. Men for these ops are mavericks , they will need to realise that they will not come back alive , if they do come back alive that's always a bonus. Only unmarried men and without any dependents. They get special payments more than what a general earns in 3 months in one month in addition to normal salary . 3 Likes |

Sizzorkay: Let me tell u a true story Something what u described in your post was done by a single man - current NSA of India Mr doval There was a terrorist group in north east India which had become very powerful in a short span of time . So he learnt the language , did necessary facial changes to make himself look like a mongoloid and managed to join as a recruit . He rose the ranks quickly became a commander. He was on the highest priority hit list of Indian army .They failed to kill him twice . In the meantime he successfully created divisions between the group and it split into two groups who ended up killing each other . Lost more than half of cadres . Rest were so disillusioned that doval convinced them it was best to surrender and enjoy the rest of their life on government rehabilitation money. He then along with his remaining comrades surrendered to the army / government. My point being - it is doable as it already has been done 5 Likes |
