Amadioha01:Created by whom? When ? Where? The so called SS does not have any legal or constitutional status. It is not gazetted anywhere and is a design of the Northern political elite It is an instrument of political parties NOT GOVERNMENT A lot of people assume it is in our laws but it is not What has Edo got to do with Akwa Ibom? |

Amadioha01: It is spate of idiocy only known to Nigerians. There is a commonality between the language of Epie-Attise and Edoid yet no claims. However the jackasses tend to lay claim on the people with no cultural or linguistic similarity with Edo. 1 Like |

Amadioha01: This is not true by imagination. How could anybody create SS to appease Ijo when in fact Ijo is not the majority ethnic group in the zone. Even the old Rivers State, Ijo cannot lay claim of majority. It was unfortunate that Nigeria government of the war era tended to push Ijo onto prominence in old Rivers State. However when the chips were drawn, Ijo found themselves in a state of political predicament. |

are you seeing any Edo group claiming urhobo? They want to be on their own so we let them be. Arrant nonsense. This is a silly figment of imagination from a person who is very deluded. |

CooperJay: I guess you have not forgotten how Ijo as ethnic nationality came to exist. The people are old fashion migrants and mostly British porters from Akwapim-Togo range. 1 Like |

fero007: This is the result of inferior mentality. When the youths are told a silly and untrue story of their origin, with English surname on the tow, they tend shy away from their native language. 2 Likes |

fero007: The fact that Ijo is not a traditional ethnic nationality does not negate the point that language or mother tongue is a major factor if not the final arbiter in cultural identification or origin of ethnicity. 2 Likes |

I think you have a problem in your head. The bolded is the invention of Europeans. It is a collection of words and what they supposedly denoted. The fact that certain people who did not arrange the words of their language and their meaning into a binder does not mean dialect is not a language. 1 Like |

Dedetwo: Please can you explain this? |
Re: Words From The Epie Language Of Yenagoa. by Sinistami(m): 11:32pm On Dec 20, 2019 |
Dedetwo: The Oru are a people the Ijaws are said to have originated from. They even beared the name a long time ago. It is not really clear where the Oru originated from but folks who study linguistic and cultural studies say they're related to ancient inhabitants of the lower Nile valley or something like that. These inhabitants called themselves the Anu or Onu the followers of Horus. |

Sinistami: Hello Sinistami I stumbled upon this thread of yours and I had to comment on it because of some outrightly dangerous or at best potentially dangerous information being peddled here by a supposed native of Epie and Bayelsa state. First, There is no language called Izon in bayelsa that is different from Nembe, Ogbia or your Epie. The word is Ijo and it describes the entire Ijo people and her dialects and divergent languages. Izon is only the pronunciation of the word Ijo by a group of Ijo dialects which compulsively interchange letters J and Z. they pronounce John as Zohn, and Zinc as Jink. Secondly, the evolution of the Epie Ijaw clan and it's language is a historical testament of the aboriginal and ancient status of the Ijo people as the oldest ethnicity in the Niger delta. This is so because Epie was once a purely Ijaw ancient city state before it absorbed Efa migrants who escaped the tyranny of their ruler, the Ogiso. This is clearly before the foundation of Benin and it's monarchy in the 1100s so Epie could not possibly be of Benin origin but one of the many Ijaw clans that harboured Efa (pre-edoid) people. It may interest you to know that more than 50 percent of what is known as Urhoboland are of Ijaw origin including the people of Ughelli whose origin is of Tarakiri Ijaw origin. Again, there is no indigenous urhobo people in bayelsa state. Ofoni people like Epie is a purely Ijaw territory whose language became altered due to their interactions with ancient Efa people. |

ijawcitizen: First of all am I the Epie indigene sharing dangerous information? Our governor was the one peddling core Ijaw and non core Ijaw about. I only knew there was a language called Izon-ibe spoken by his so called core Ijaw. Secondly. Your second point is interesting and maybe true. Forgive me for getting it wrong at first. I already knew about the Epie being a result of Ijaws taking in Efa runaways. But if there was no Benin city then why does old Epie language have a word for Benin city Akenmoba meaning Oba's house in the language. Your third point actually is based on what you think the word indigene means. Thank you. #Proudly_Ijaw |

Sinistami: I have told you what you need to know. It is either you get informed or you continue to amplify the ignorance of the ignorant ones. there is no dialect or language called Izon. I shall advice you to ignore the core ijaw nonsense I am not going there with you. |
Re: Words From The Epie Language Of Yenagoa. by ijawcitizen(m): 6:46pm On Jan 13, 2020 |
Sinistami: Epie didn't result from Ijaws taking in "Era runaways". Epie already existed before taking in those foreigners. Again, the words BENIN or Edo were not in existence in the Ogiso era, they are recent inventions. Having a word for Benin in Epie can't possibly prove your point. |

Dis is not a battle for supremacy and to gain knowledge about history.. Personally i blv d ijaw nations came out due to franchise... I mean dat diff ethnic group of diff migration theory combining as one... Someone clearly stated dat u cant tell d history of ijaw correctly if u dont mention BENIN... D simple truth BENIN was an empire dat experience several wave of migration at diff times due to d actions of d diff emperors.. Dis explain d urohobo, isoko, itsekiri partly, esan, akoko, afemai, ikwerre and eppie attissa is not an exception... D yorubas today bcame a big ethnic group due to merger of ethnic nationality dat claim same ancestry, 150yrs back dere was nttin like yoruba,it was oyo, illesha, ijebu, owo, ekiti on their own... Now imagine if all dis ethnic group who claim to migrate from benin decides to come together won't it b wonderful... Pls no insult... 1 Like 1 Share |

chukkz:here we go again, some more land grabbing may I ask ? The only Igbo cities are in the south east. Stop overestimating your numbers. |
Re: Words From The Epie Language Of Yenagoa. by chukkz: 7:39pm On Feb 17, 2020 |
ghostwon: Lol. Who are you? Igbo includes Ikwerre, Anioma, Etche etc. Plz. Port Harcourt will always be an Igbo city with some Ijo districts. |
Re: Words From The Epie Language Of Yenagoa. by Nobody: 7:52pm On Feb 17, 2020 |
chukkz:Nope, Ikwere and Anioma are not Igbo, they have said it loud and clear. They originated from Benin I don't know Etche, but I am pretty sure they too are not Igbo. You guys are just like the Yoruba, you go around adding people into your tribe. People whose history you don't even know. The civil war should have taught you guys in the southeast your lesson already. Stop the land grabbing ! |

Re: Words From The Epie Language Of Yenagoa. by Nobody: 8:54pm On Feb 17, 2020 |
babyfaceafrica:The loosely defined Igbo tribe keeps adding unwilling people into it with complete disregard for history or the will of the people. The same thing is true for the yoruba. |

ghostwon: Who did Yoruba add? |
Re: Words From The Epie Language Of Yenagoa. by Nobody: 9:09pm On Feb 17, 2020 |
babyfaceafrica:You tried to add Itsikiri, but they have maintained their roots are in Benin. You even tried to add Edo-state, recently you tried to add the igbo. You tried to add Lagos... |
Re: Words From The Epie Language Of Yenagoa. by babyfaceafrica: 9:22pm On Feb 17, 2020 |
ghostwon:.. Lolz.. Itsekiri is on their own, so is Edo.. Anyone who is trying to add them is on his own.. Everyone should dey their lane!! |
Re: Words From The Epie Language Of Yenagoa. by chukkz: 10:02pm On Feb 17, 2020 |
ghostwon: Nope. It's only around 20% of the Ikwerre and Anioma that believe that they are not part of the igbo nation. Don't be deluded. They are definately not part of the Edo/Benin in any shape or form. White explorers/missionaries such as Sarah Tucker and William B. Baikie classed all these peoples as members of the Igbo nation in speech, behavioural/facial characteristics, language, cultural practices ie. "Aboh (Agbor) was the first Iboe (Igbo) town we reached. It is on the western border of Iboe country. The Obi and his son Tshuku-ma (Chukwuma) welcomed the first white people they had ever seen in a friendly manner and with open arms etc .............. There is great linguistic and cultural diversity amongst the peoples of Iboe country................... The Iboe people nearer to the coastal swamps ie regions speak a markedly different dialect from those in the hinterland. This includes Ndoki, Etche, Diobu (the PH dialect) ect ect. Please don't be confused. These people are a coherent part of the Igbo nation. Make you kno now o. Any attempt to attack, annex or colonise them would be seen as an attack on the Igbo nation and will come with a severe penalty/devastating consequences for your people. Make una no say we no tell una. Make una caution (/comport) unaselves oh. Na warning be dis. I rest my case. 2 Likes |

chukkz:who is arguing? |
Re: Words From The Epie Language Of Yenagoa. by Nobody: 10:11pm On Feb 17, 2020 |
chukkz: So your response is a bunch of nonesense. You post some white people's names, call them white linguists and then say they said this ... Wtf is wrong with you and your low self esteemed person. You even talk about facial characteristics ? What is this nazi Germany ? Jesus. Cultural practices !!! Hai, there is something wrong in your head, to the whites all our cultural practices are the same. Be it Igbo, Edo, ijaw...the same to the white. Let me inform you that the origin of a people is not determined by linguists who specialize on the study of languages. It is determined by historians who study the passed. You are here making threats, the Ikwere and all Anioma have already told you they are not Igbo, you just want to force your own identity upon others. I used to pity you guys, but I hope Nigeria breaks up and you guys get an other lesson which will soon come. After 3 million of you guys were killed and I felt pity for you, you are the ones trying to force others and to make threats... You have started it again, the next lesson will soon come. You will watch how Anioma and Ikwere will join the fight against you the southeastern predators. The way Igbo just feel it is their right to force other people.. This is nauseating and I really am getting to understand why the civil war happened. Right now I can't wait for the war to start, you will hopefully be the first person I meet on the battlefield. Congrats you have made yourselves an other sworn enemy, keep it going untill your next disaster starts again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rb6oLOEYOI |
