I still have my UBA and WAPCO, waiting for end of year financial report.
I wish I sold my UBA when it got to #9 grin

The most important thing is to know what you have bought and why you have bought, don't let the noise in the market place confuse you.

It is very possible that you have bought right and yet the share price can still depreciate, it is almost impossible to time the market. Trying to time the market, might make you miss opportunities in the market.

APR rights sold for N1.20k. N12 million will buy 10 million units, which earned a dividend of N3.6 million in 2018, N4.5 million in 2019 and N6.3 million in 2020. Generating a total dividend of N14.4 million after deduction of withholding tax in the last 3 years and capital appreciation of N38 million.

N1.20k was a good price for the right offer, as in it was appropriately priced. But not quite long after the right offer, the price still went down to close to 90k. Those who listened to the noise in the market place, sold and are no longer partakers of the wealth created by the company in the last 6 years.

Bigjay01, I thought you are now a JIJO Apostle grin

In my lingo, JIJO does not mean day trading!

In the past, whatever i bought I had the intention of holding for ever. Nowadays, only few stock qualify for this treatment.

Also, in the past I over-diversified. Lately, I have begun to concentrate my portfolio with the view to holding the stock of a max of 15 companies.

Hence, if the events of this week continue, it will present an opportunity to target equities that satisfies this new paradigm.

Amen to your prayers Pastor. People that do TBs at 17% interest per annum and can afford to leave their cash for over a year getting afraid in a market where they stand the chance of getting returns close to 100%. Buy stocks that have been consistent in dividend payments. In the long run, it will not be a case of my capital has gone audio.

For me its time to buy...I don't put a bid at low when buying.

I just buy once I am convinced. Even if you buy at high of today and the stock gains 10% next day it means a lot.

if they have not sold and it is not a borrowed fund. Then they will be alright. No need to panic. Staying with 50m or 100m in the market for 3 years will turn great at some point.

The fact is that some of the present government's policies are not favourable to the stock exchange. However, I think this is the best time to buy, cause the another regime is coming after this.

For sure, it takes the builders a lot of time to build, like wise we buyers needs time to recoup our investment

Well, Wapco sold down to day's low of 13.95 and still closed 15.50 for the 2nd day. Some people picked at 13.95 junction today.
We're awaiting result with expectation of lots of improvement all things being equal.

Nobody is talking about good or bad...or are stocks like uba, gtb and zenith not good stocks.

We are talking about depressing price. Nobody said Peter bought a good or bad stock.

what of if you have exhausted all your bullets, wetin u go take buy again? I invest with common sense, those that bought later will still make money more that someone who does average down stuff. I have practised it before at the end those that sold off and re enter later even made more money more than me. How will i grow my portfolio by not been dynamic in my approach to investment? Who knows how long is going to take before market stabilise wth our fx reserve tanking everyday FPIs must be sure they dont caught in cross fire where no fx to repartrate their money back home so best bet to me stay out of market and watch the dust settles. I almost bought uba at N7.6 thinking it may not fall futher now if i had bought at 6.7 i will be making more more money than if bought at 7.5 so i must invest wt common sense!

I took a screenshot of the above. I need to internalize the wisdom in it. Eventually I have to invest in stocks that yield good dividends, as I age. What better time than a bear market to get such @ good prices!!! The challenge is that price fluctuations can be alarming. I need to work more on my self-control because there will always be noise.

What I know for sure is that if there are no day traders, long-termers will not be able to buy in order to keep for a life-time grin! There is no right or wrong strategy in investment, just do what works for you depending on your situation/cash flow.

Pastor Vee, u dont know Oracle strategy and stop guessing please. I am privileged to know his strategy, he buys at a very low price with good margin of safety, even if market drops further after buying, he keeps buying and getting dividends. Then when the market euphoria comes and people start giving ridiculously high prices stocks will get to, then he start to sell and handover his kaya to the market optimist that are waiting for wapco to hit 3 euros.
He is not a trader and doesn't look for 10-20% capital gain. He enters stocks at a ridiculous low price that can give him atleast 100%. A case study was the fidelity he bought at 80 Kobo and sold for 224% gain. He is someone I am privileged to know and also learn from his strategy. He has saved me millions of naira in terms of capital loss. He asked me to sell my uba during the last bull and told me my entry price of 7 naira was too high. Thank God I sold then, if not my uba would have gone back to a loss position in my portfolio.
He is of the strategy of if it doesn't poo, it must vomit but his point has always been buy low with good margin of safety as preached by the intelligent investor by Prof Ben Graham.
