Money Heist and Vis a Vis are mega success all over the world. Not one nobody from a faceless forum can defame the shows.
If you want to criticize, start with Nollywood movies, and always do it constructively

I dare not compare them to Prison Break or Breaking Bad shaa. Tho, some people did and I can't blame them. Perception is everything, just stop with these mumu criticism and spend more time correcting your own flaws.

My memory of season 1 is very vague. I watched it in 2017.

I discussed it with folks here and here...

There is a major plot hole I forgot to mention back then... the electricity plot hole: Cutting the power to the building should have ruined the whole heist, since the electricity would be cut off, thus criminals wouldn't be able to print more money.

It's fundamentally the first thing the police are required to do in hostage situations, but the police in Money Heist conveniently forgot to cut the power, whilst knowing to cut off the TV from receiving signal. Ultimately, the success of the whole heist depended on a massive plot hole.

I think you're entitled to your opinion and that should be respected. That said, Money Heist is a fantastic series the plot holes notwithstanding.

With respect to the power issue, you should remember that it took a while before the police knew they were minting new money, it was all part of their diversionary plan. They came out with loads of cash already stocked in the bank to give the impression it was a robbery gone wrong while they print the cash, and keep hostages.

Cutting off power also wouldn't have been plausible since the persons in question had hostages and could kill them at will. So the power issues in my opinion isn't a plot hole at all

Funny how many of these series seem to undermine male power and dominance.. Feminism is really knocking hard. But personally it would b best not to put any gender down to make the other seem stronger or superior

That has been the practice for a while now.

The dominant males when portrayed are often demonized.

You watched the whole season, let's agree with the plot holes it was still entertaining

In hostage situations, cutting the power comes first. The reason cops cut electricity early is to coerce hostage-takers to relinquish some hostages in exchange for restoration of electricity. Thus, even if the cops in Money Heist didn't know about their plans from the getgo, it didn't detract from the fact that they (the cops) didn't follow protocol. By not following protocol, they willingly became accessories after the fact to the heist.

- First, if the hostage taking is politically incentivized, perhaps they will go through with their threats, but in most scenerios, money is the principal motivator. An hostage-taker motivated by money will threaten to kill hostages, but will rarely follow through.

- Second, every criminal desires to live long enough to spend their ill-begotten wealth, and killing hostages directly contradicts this.

- Third, killing hostages is bad karma. Once a hostage is killed, the leverage the hostage-taker held is squandered. There is absolutely nothing to stop the SWAT from storming the building, and killing every criminal to the last man.

Bottom line, your killing the hostages theory is not ideal.

Again, that's with the assumption the rules of engagement is the same across all nations. Each country may have their own subject rules with respect to hostage situation. I'm in no position to comment on Spain's as I have no idea what that is, but I still hold on to the opinion that cutting power wouldn't have been the logical thing to do. Those guys were in that bank for days, they had media attention, more so they didn't initially know who exactly they were dealing with, so cutting power wouldn't have been the logical thing to do in my opinion.

Like I earlier mentioned, Money Heist does have plot holes, but cutting power wasn't one of them

Cutting power is modus operandi of every policing organization in the world.

I haven't gone online to see if there are others that echo my thoughts on the matter, but it's what I felt is a major plot hole, on the account of reading quite a few crime books on hostage negotiation.

Yours could as well me your personal opinion on the subject. I've tried to check online to validate what you said but couldn't come across any. The closest I saw was that cutting power could be an option for leverage during hostage negotiation. It could be used as a bargaining tool to free a couple of hostages while the conversation goes on.

I'll appreciate if you can point me to any standard article where your stance is posited.

The article referenced though strongly reaffirms my earlier submission. Emphasis was placed on taking action that wouldn't put the victims at harm's way. This ultimately means taking such actions becomes subjective. If cutting off power could potentially mean harm for the hostages, the negotiator was at will to do otherwise.

Also, the article also mentioned that cutting power was for leverage, more like a quid pro quo thing as indicated in the quoted

“The electricity turned on? I’ll work on that, but I’ll need you do something for me, okay? Can you keep the phone line open so we can keep communicating while they’re hooking up the cable?”

Finally, the author isn't any different from the author of the article I earlier posted. They aren't police administrators but policy contributors to the subject.

First of all those on the outside never knew it was a heist initially they thought it was kidnapping.

Remember they was the daughter of a very important Person among the hostages and there was already pressure on the government regarding the said girl. So the Spanish govt priority then was for the girl and possibly others to be free. So why cut power when the doors won't open if the hostages are to be freed.

In the real world an European government will prioritize the life's of the hostages(more so when an important personality is involved) over robbers minting money and that is what happened in money heist. Stopping the minting of the money will be an added bonus.

The government were more about getting the hostages out and Professor and co used that as an opportunity to be in there printing more money.

We should not create plot holes when there is none.

In regard to the bolded, let's not lose sight of the objective.

We're at the opposite ends of what I perceived to be a major plot hole in Money Heist.

Well, on the basis of movies and crime novels I've read that dealt with the subject matter, the Money Heist cops didn't follow standard hostage procedure/protocol, period. A standard hostage protocol requires isolating the area from the public, and starting a dialogue with the hostage-takers.

From the article I shared, It is made clear that there is only one way of isolating an area; by taking control of the situation... which involves, cutting off all outside communications and electricity - it goes without saying. If done right, the hostage-taker will have limited options to exploit.

The article expressed thus, and I quote:

"The standard operating procedure in hostage negotiations is to make the HT work for everything he gets by extracting a concession in return. Within these parameters, don’t give anything without getting something in return.

The cops in Money Heist mindbogglingly failed to exploit all the advantages they had. My point stands.

I detest all these perfectionists always interested in ruining one's fun moments. Plot holes or not, let the fans enjoy their show in peace. Subtly forcing what could make the fans gradually loose interest down their throats. King of boys, by Kemi Adetiba, was so full of plot holes but I refrained from using them as spoilers to people around me. The highest I did was prolly to mention one, and that was it. Going further to start explaining the plot holes with textbook and laboratory facts was a no no for me. As they wait for S4, they are enjoying it, let them be. Some are even watching S3 all over to keep them refreshed, and you are here again forming lord of critic. Mtshewwwwww.

I just tire for people..movies na for entertainment before oh..just watch and have fun plot hole or no plot hole..the major objective there is for viewers to be entertained.. And if u don't like what u see then don't watch it..its that simple.. What I find funny is people using textbooks and articles to explain a MOVIE..there's a big difference between fiction and reality...
